Birdie Ball Putting Green?

I built a platform for my 4x14 birdie ball green. Much more stable and doesn't move around anymore.

 

Nice! MDF or plywood deck? How heavy is it?

3/4 play wood. It's crazy heavy but super sturdy. Don't need the space for a car so its staying for now. I'll have to destroy it to move it probably.

Are Big Moss greens the same way? I know they are more expensive.

 

I have no experience with Big Moss. Perhaps someone else can chime in on them.

I bought the Michael Breed Birdie Path and the other one of his, it's got a tiny hole and it's about 5-6 ft long.

 

I used both of them a lot over the winter, great for practicing 6-7 footers and 3-4 footers on the one with the smaller target. The roll seems pretty good but I don't have any other product to compare it to.

 

But honestly I'm not sure my putting has improved much really... It's just so different once you're on a real green with uneven lies etc. Maybe it's just me.

No I'm the same. I practice all winter on my indoor mat, but once outside in the open, the whole stroke and everything just feels very differently. I still roll balls at home, but mostly because it's fun, not for practise.

The thing that i hate about my bridie ball is all ay both end they are not flat. And its been 4 or 5 month now.

Try contacting them maybe they will help you out, I got mine for Christmas and its perfect! 4 wide x 16 long, It comes very close to real green speeds i play, but mostly i use to practice setup, address and follow through.

Might go down as the best Christmas present ever

Bumping up an old thread. I just ordered one of these.

 

For those of you that stand on the mat while putting, has it caused any indentions in the mat over time?

 

Also, has anyone tried to mark a line on their mat? If so, how did you go about it?

Its funny, i loved my Birdieball but after a year if was worn out and was too slick. I was playing at ChampionsGate in Orlando and a fellow suggested to me he bought a roll of Camry Trunk carpet and covered the Birdieball with it.  I went with the idea and googled it, turns out many PGA Tour players use it as well. It was the best thing I could have done to the Birdieball as it added traction to the roll, was super pure, and I could even throw down a chalkline. It was Cheap too! 

 

I plan on creating an indoor putting green with 2x4s and particle board to top off with the Camry Carpet. This was my friends project (I have attached some photos to spark some Handy DIY minds!)

My Birdie Ball didn't survive two runs over it by my daughter's dog’s slightly over length toenails, so that was that.  I went to a PuttOut trainer and its easily rolled up and relatively short putting mat - 7 or so feet and in is all I really need to be working on indoors.  Works great.  

 

Love the carpet idea above - where do you obtain the carpet?
