TP Mills - Post your Putter

This just arrived today. Anvil series Ming. Bought off the BST. Cut it down to 33” and installed a GP Pro only Red Star grip.  

Dot on the top line in the last picture is just an experiment. Sweet spot feels so good I’m trying to get down my alignment ASAP.

Ming is his best model, it is amazing at set up and looks beautiful.  I have dont several customs with David and now whittled down to 3 Mings.  my first ever ebay purchase, a tour and recently full custom.  A lot of builders may do something small...Piretti puts an R on it which means Rolled...People love hand welded necks, the T stamp just makes it a bit more unique.  If your doing a custom welded neck at request, just dont ask for T stamp.

Very nice and brings back memories of the two Ming’s I regret selling.  One was copper plated, the other was a stamped by David ‘hand made’ since he put into considerable work softening of he bumpers.   Enjoy....

Hi KUPUR - What do you mean by don't ask for the T stamp? How long did it take to get the custom putter rolling? Ive been in contact with David and his responses are strong for a few days then radio silent. did you have a similar experience?

 

Anyone else have info or advice during a TPM custom build?

Absolutley gorgeous! I have an order in for a tri-sole dalehead with a long pipe neck. The wait is going to kill me. How long did you have to wait?

About 3 weeks after we discussed details and I paid him, but that was in february so his turnaround time could definitely be longer at this point.
 

It’s well worth the wait. I expect mine to be in the bag for a long time.

I was curious how much my Heritage weighed.  I don't recall ever specifying the head weight when I discussed the order with David.  So today my curiosity was quenched.

Also what size shaft do his putters take? Are they those weird flair tip?

That might explain the several strips of lead tape I had on the sole.  I think I had 3 layers of lead tape (1" x 4").  I am not sure how much that equates to in grams but probably closer to the 350g-355g I generally like.  I am considering sending my Heritage to Nocal Putters for Rusty treatment.

 

It looks like a standard flare tip shaft.  I'll measure the shaft and hosel later.

I should weight mine one day, it does have 365 stamped in the cavity so I'm assuming that's the weight.

 

But the shaft part is if I ever decide to swap it or upgrade it later on, may want to try a stability shaft but don't want to sacrifice my current shaft to use it.

I would reshaft with the same shaft with one-off prototype BestGrips leather pistol grip.  It is like a tacky suede.  Harry Sewill gave it to be back in 2008 or 2009 to try.
