Wasn't custom ordered but mine is 1/2 shaft

That is nice!! How do you get on with the 1/2. I currently game a full offset but struggle with a hook side aim bias so thinking 1/2 will see me align better

Hello! Long long long time lurker with very limited posts along the way.

Not sure on the rules for something like this, so feel free to point me in the right direction if I’m breaking or bending any.
I received a new TP Mills last week and now see what all the fuss is about. Work is amazing and one of a kind, it just isn’t suiting my eye. This is entirely my fault because I didn’t really know what I wanted and was all over the place with questions and ideas, most of which weren’t even good ones. 
Would love for someone that will appreciate it from here to get it without having to deal with eBay or anywhere else. Happy to provide pictures whenever/however I’m allowed. Please help me help you!

1/2" offset is my preferred offset so works perfectly for me. Works for my eye and gives a cleaner look at address mixed with the flow neck.

David told me my new putter should be ready by the end of next week, so I’m pretty excited! Even though I’ve had a handful of his putters over the years, it’s my first custom since 2017.

I totally understand your predicament.  The first time I ordered a custom from David, I thought I knew what I wanted and gave him this big long list of details, and on and on.  In the end he sent me two beautiful putters... and I couldn't make a putt with either of them.  Over the last six years, I've realized what kind of putters work best for my game vs what I think will look cool, and now I have a much better idea of what to ask for when talking with him.

I ordered a skinny nellie first, but David took quite a few liberties with that and made something I really wasn't interested in.  To make up for it, he made me this softtail with a pencil shaft.  It was the most beautiful putter I've ever missed a startling amount of putts with.  So I sold it.

 

I still get sad about selling this work of art.

It was regular length toe to heel, something we're addressing with this current build.

Throughout this thread you will read that ordering a putter through David can be an adventure. 

 

You basically need to order knowing you may not received exactly what you ordered lol.

 

Personally...I was happy with what I received although not exactly what I ordered. Just grateful to own a custom from t a legen like a Daviid.

Every Mills I’ve ordered has come with a couple of David’s tweaks.  All of them were much appreciated. All to the specs ordered LLL. Let’s remember that you are able to talk to the guy making your putter unlike the other company that will sell you a spec putter with a “T” and ⭕️ for several thousand dollars.  Artist take liberties and if you want a print rather than an original go elsewhere.  If you bought something from David you don’t like shoot me a PM.

I just want to be really clear about my previous post - I am a big David Mills fan, to the point where he is working on a new putter for me as we speak.  When I spoke with him yesterday, I told him to use whatever milling pattern he thought suited the build, as long as it was a light/fine milling, and to "do what you do best" in terms of the stamping.  He definitely went above and beyond and made things right with me and I am still a customer for as long as he's making putters.  When a putter maker calls you out of the blue (during 2nd period PE, no less 😅) to clarify what you want your piece of art to look like, that's a custom experience!

I try to keep a few things in mind when emailing him:

1. He’s on Alabama time zone. So on the west coast, I try to send it first thing in the am. And I don’t bother in the evening.

2. I never email Friday night or Saturday or Sunday. And I don’t expect any communication over the weekend.

3. Yes there will be times he doesn’t respond right away. If I don’t get a response within 2 or 3 days I don’t take it personal.

(things happen, he’s busy, or maybe it went to junk folder). The guy also deserves to take a vacation now and then. Be persistent but respectful.

4. I always contact him for refinishing  work in the off-season.

5. You might consider asking him what he has available at this time rather than a vague question about a custom order. If you state you want a specific model and he doesn’t have any ready to go, he may not respond because he knows it’s gonna be a while (this is my opinion only).

It will definitely by a 1 of 1.  He's starting with a Sycamore head, but then cutting much of the back flange off to make it more of a wide blade, then welding on a long flow neck into a pencil shaft.  Although, honestly (and sticking with the them of this entire thread), he hasn't sent me any pictures, so I really don't know what it looks like. 🤷‍♂️

After selling a few to members on here, I started to miss them.  Thank you to a couple of you that got me back into the collecting. Racks are full again.
