Ping I 25 vs 20

I'm sorry, although I know that these irons have been out a while, just wanted your opinion.

My story..new Dad and bought my i20's of eBay with a projext x flighted shaft 2 years ago , fast forward ,, found a new set on Golfsmith blemished website with cfs stiff shafts ( which actually feel nice without warming up) but I still can return them next 30 days ...,so the question is do you notice a difference in the way they play? I personally love the look compared to the 20's but if it's all it is then I will order the 1e with my 30 day return guarantee. It's cold in Chicago so can't test them but would love to hear what players from both sets have to say. Thank you.

I have played all three sets. I didn't think there was much difference at all between the i20 and i25. I recently put the iE in the bag and they are slightly different to me, look slightly different from address, feel slightly different, sound different, and go through the turf different. All better, although just slightly. I personally plike the CFS shaft. I play the S flex and hard step in once. It gives me a light feel but isn't too weak by any means. I have played nearly every shaft you can name in irons over the years and I like the CFS S hard stepped quite a bit.

I went to stock CFS this year and prefer them over Project X. I have found the CFS easier to flight than the Project X. I am
using the CFS Regular hard stepped once, the Proj. X were stiff.

I'll be honest , I bought them 4-Pw with project x 6.0 flighted , and then added u and sw in cfs stiff the x flighted I felt that I needed to hit them with a purpose but the cfs was solid feeling. That's partly why I went with the cfs shaft. I'm a strong 43 year old male but sometimes I want to swing easy because I need a break from the 2 year old consantly running around if that makes any sense. I always thought the i25 looked better visually and I'm hoping the cfs and the head combo play that way. Keep the responses coming good and bad I appreciate it.

I bought a set of i20's with px 6.0 Shafts a couple of weeks ago, haven't played the 25's but i can't imagine they are that much different. I think the 20' are really great sticks, i have gamed them for five rounds now and haven't broken 70 yet.

Played both i20s and i25s. Both are great so if money is the deciding factor, save what you can. I prefer the i25's. I believe they have a litle more bounce and that suits me a little better.

Can't speak for the whole set, but the i20 UW is about as good as it gets for meshing forgiveness and versatility in a wedge. It works well with my G20 irons and 58* tour-W.

Interesting comments on the CFS shafts. I feel the exact same way. It's a great shaft, no need to spend extra for upgrades. I was very happy with hard stepped stiffs in my S56s. I switched to Recoil Protos in my S55s, but only to combat tendinitis.

As for topic, Ping typically makes small incremental engineering improvements with each new line, just depends on what you like. Really can't go wrong...

Here's my preliminary update. Today in Chicago it was sunny , windy and cold. I took several i20's and my full set of i25's to the range for a test. I wasn't expecting much because if the heavy wind and wet grass but here are my initial observations .
The 25's did great on my less than ideal initial swings. I noticed that even when I hit behind the ball I still was rewarded with good distance and a straight line. Speaking of straight , they are very very straight. The shafts loads and unloads beautifully. My i20's shafted in project x feel ok but I have to work to get the performance out of them. The 25's gave me a very nice ball flight that flew my normal yardage but looked amazing despite the winds. My hits off the bottom grooves also didn't punish me like the other clubs. Perhaps it's all in my head ,Sunday is supposed to be a much nicer day. Im gonna try this test again and confirm. Thanks for all the responses.

I would say 25's look nicer but not any difference in performance in my opinion.

Unlike you though I hated the CFS shaft.

Oddly, I favor the odd numbered i-series over the even numbered.

I do thing the 25's look better to me , the cavity and badging is much cleaner. Also the clubs seem lighter , that's the shaft difference. And that cfs shaft feels better to me. I'm really going to test them more Sunday in better weather to determine what ultimately I will do. However what I will do next time is getting myself properly fitted for the shaft.
