Tennis and Golf 3D "multi" sensor technology is the way to go(Tennis for now, golf next)

Hi ya all!

Yes, Its me Joe Kwok. The ONLY Joe Kwok :)

Hope this post finds you well! I've been quite busy lately joining a start up company involving a sport wearable technology that focus to the consumer market. I'm always intrigued by any high technology products that will improve our performance, especially golf! This is why i agreed to joint this company (don't worry, I'm still serving the same golf community with my joekwokgolf.com expertise and service).

Here we are, Today we launch an Indiegogo campaign for our Tennis product version (golf is next on the table). We called this product PIVOT. Its a 3D multi sensor motion sensors with cloud base through your smart device. We are have a product endorsement by the famous coach NICK BOLLETTIERI. As of now we will launch tennis first with golf next on the workbench asap. Bare in mind that the HARDWARE WILL BE THE SAME EXACT ONE, we might just add a insole pressure sensor to measure your weight transfer reading. Here are some of the tech points we put in this products:

. 9 axis by using gyroscope, accelerometer and magnetometer sensor.

. Cloud data base recording and computation (small storage and very fast), now you can get coach from anywhere in the world.

. Game interface animation to recreate your motion to analyze in your smart device.

. Wifi connection for better range compare to bluetooth.

. Biomechanics feedback.

. Injury prevention feature.

. Split screens, over lap (shadowing), Swing path lines, zoom in/out, tilt 360* top/side/back, Box, circle, slow mo, frame by frame, etc.

. Swing Library to compare before and after from your recorded swing/stroke or your favorite pro.

. Easy and fast to put them on/set up. Wireless! Practice anywhere you like.

. Very lightweight and comfortable to wear them.

. The list goes on and on!!!

Cloud data base will change the coaching industry. Coach can give any feedback to their student where ever they are that has cellular signal. You can wear this sensors through your rounds and analyze your performance later. Save it and compare after the round to improve your game or ask your coach to analyze it.

Hey Coaches....Don't worry, we will make sure to create a version that is not way too technical for your students. :)

All these goody come down to how much, right?

Up to this points, we know that in golf is way too expensive (in a 10 to 30 thousands range) and not as portable. 1 sensors technology are not accurate since they only measure from 1 sensor to get an ESTIMATE of the whole body motion.

We are working hard for sure to make this affordable. You can start checking our tennis indiegogo campaign to get the idea how far are we gonna do this for golf later.

I wanna personally thank you all for future and past support to make this possible for our beloved sport, GOLF!!! :)

Check this youtube video out for more info :

Cheers!

Joe

Sounds cool. I've been playing tennis longer than I have golf. Still play once a week with my old boss. Typical WRX fashion I live by my hard serve and finesse drop shots.

Thanks guys!

We are very excited indeed, especially me when the golf app is working flawlessly.

This is gonna be a game changer. It's gonna be easier to build your memory muscle at the correct swing path from beginners all the way to pro level. We will have some fun flare to it also later if possible.

Cheers!

It seems to me like there would be tremendous value not only in coaching, but in fitting?

For example, couldn't the same data be used to provide fitting metrics to customers where ever they are? Perhaps not (yet) to the trackman levels of launch and spin and ball speed, but at least based on technique and club head speed?

I would be interested in studying broadly my round statistics - especially if they could be compiled and presented graphically on a ipad?

In other words, sabermetrics for the player?

Good luck Joe - especially looking forward to the golf side updates!

Sounds like the next step for coaching to me. I wish you all the best and if I can afford the golf one when it comes out I will have one.
Thanks!, We will work hard to make it so good and affordable.
Good thinking there, definitely a game changer if we combine this system and launch monitor for fitting, Imagine how much info to validate....also eventually this technology can generate enough data, then we can develop a software for fitting too. Thats gonna be a while before we can say that our algorithm is accurate enough from those data.

Practically, everything is possible...but we have to calculate what is valuable features for the customer without going too far and hard to understand. Golf industry is much more knowledgable when it comes to biomechanics and tech compare to tennis in general. Our expert team will educate those coaches and people who like to learn the technology on how to use those features/data properly. We will have a few academies around the country eventually to teach them and certified them if we have to. We'll create our own forum to just educate and interact with us.

Cheers!

How many sensors will you have and at what frame rate? Integration with launch monitors?
In tennis, we decided to use 5 and full 15 sensors package and no final words yet on golf.

For Unity 3D visualization, we send at 100 frames/sec.

Integration with launch monitor is one possibility, but we have to see the whole thing first before we can say "yes", it's business at the end of the day.

Like u said on the last post, we can definitely put the features in our system if we collected enough data to use for the computation for more accurate reading.

Have you heard of MySwing? What is the sampling rate of your sensors?

Tennis is WAY easier than golf as far as capture goes because of the speeds at which things are moving and how they move.

Tennis market is harder in term of spending habits and awareness!
Sorry I missed 1 of your question.

Our sampling rate is 1000 Hz in the sensors and 100 Hz in animation frame rate.

Price of myswing?

Is the price of this stuff down to the software algorithms/development time/marketing or hardware?

Youtube golf instruction video
only shows a ball distance or direction
of about 3 inches

All of the above. The hardware is the easiest. The algorithms and error correction is the most important thing IMO, and the most difficult . Myswing's price is listed on their website. It's available to lease and I believe to purchase if you live outside the US. You'd have to email them to get more info but most of it should be on the website.
