I've reached out to Lamont once before, but backed off at the thought of spending that much on a putter. As a result, I'm still gaming the first club I ever bought with my hard earned money (yard work at Grandma's!) better than 16 years ago. I'll just have to live vicariously through you. Nice setup!

lol... I highly recommend him... really a great experience building a putter with him.. and don't dream it up if you aren't serious..That guy can build anything !

That's what I've seen and heard. I really just want an 8802 with some stank on it. What that means, even I don't know, but I love the classic look.

yep...bar none best fairway shaft ive ever hit... and in that 915 head I had to back up to the 18 degree playing at 4 wood length to get to 3 wood distances... in other words the 15 degree 915 head was just too long ... I got into trouble with it often ...

 

 

I also added a couple close up iron pics ( you can tell im not a photographer..lol) im a full blown addict when it comes to those irons.. anyone whos never hit Vega is missing out... ultra forgiving head for an MB and sooo soft !

thanks....that headcover has covered my fairway wood since in school in 1998...same one... I have another with "13.5" on top and red rings instead of white that I use if I carry a strong 3 wood and drop a wedge...

thanks guys! wish I could take a picture to do them justice.... this is the happiest ive been with my setup in forever.... Mitchell knows how much ive swapped irons... Ill try to post pics of this set outdoors if I play this week and also of my "back in the day bag" which is my titleist custom grinds 2-pw vokey 200 52 300 59 and 350G oilcan Newport.... 983E Fuji F1 and v steel 13 TS x100....I would play that setup all day except im stocking to this one as its all conforming and I plan to play in some events this year ( good lord willing ) that require conforming grooves..... that plus those vegas are just sooooo easy to hit!

 

 

edit....just wanted to say the vegas aren't new to me...so no honeymoon talk here..ive been testing shafts in them for almost 10 months....I happy enough that I got rid of my fall back iron the razr MB recently... no more crutch to lean on there.... im not 1000% sure on the KBS now , but not because of performance but longevity... still worry about bending tips.... Once I figured out how a lot of harder swingers were playing them I quickly found the ball flight and heft they lacked... some tipping and Hardstepped once makes them play like a super smooth Project X..which is what I like the flight and dispersion of..plus ive picked up a full club..which is why I can comfortably drop the 2 iron and pickup a wedge...which has proven to be a benefit inside 100 yards.. its a win win .. If these bend ill have a set of TT X7 when they hit retail next month.... but I hope that doesn't happen...

Thanks a bunch ! Wish you guys who like the look could hit them. They cut through the turf better than they look. They really make me want to hit a raw vega wedge. If the wedges are as good as these irons I could never touch a vokey again!

Thanks Stu! Yea after the season we had it tries to hide anywhere it can! But as a gamecock fan you have to be tough. Cause lord knows we are either winning Games we shouldn't or loosing games we should win. No consistency has even been known in Columbia!

Update********* So long story short I have just sent off my Vegas to the USGA testing lab to have the grooves certified for "condition of competition " use....Im trying to lock down all equipment testing etc so that my tournament season can begin .... THis cant happen of course with a set of one off irons and no paper work.. All it would take is one person complaining about them and I could end up with a DQ , which would be bad all around. So I decided to send them in and fingers crossed that they are the models we believe they will pass and ill have USGA papers to state that. Im told by their lab I will have the answer by the end of next week..

 

So in the meantime I have just built a back up set that I came across recently... They are a tour issue set of titleist 680 believed to have been Matt Jones set before he swapped to the 710 series. When I got them they were exactly to his specs including s400 shafts, tour velvet grips, and 38 inch 5 iron..... I play a 38.75 5 iron so no way to keep that setup... I stumbled into a set of Nippon Modus 130X shafts at my local fitter cheap , so it only made sense to try those shafts out while my vegas were gone testing.. That plus the 680 are conforming and would be my iron IF the vegas prove to have the illegal grooves.

 

This set has the tour ID stamps on the hossel like all van built titleist wedges and irons do.. sometimes with numbers but also often initials for better known players..These have the MJ initials on the hossel. Also neat and a telling sign for actual TV tour use is that they are not stamped "680" ....My thoughts are that this was to camouflage players using the older sets on TV... This set also has slightly less that retail offset in the short irons... which is very nice to my eye. I have only hit the combo a few times yesterday in 35 degree weather , but I have to say I love the feel and flight. If I decide that these shafts are better suited and the vegas come back conforming I MAY swap the modus into the vega heads... But that's a lot of IFS , so we il see.

 

Next is the old trusty Newport Cameron 350G oilcan ...... This has been my go to since 1998..... In fact its the only putter I owned until 2014... When I get down to business she is likely the girl ill carry into battle... dents rust and all..
