According to Miura USA they have an even smaller offset than the Cb-201 and a bit more pointy toe, like the japanese version. The are forged using spin welded hosels from 1020 carbon steel and made in Japan - not Taiwan or Malaysia or Thailand (if that matters to anyone)

They have moved the CG a bit, for a slightly higher launch in the long irons and lower launch in the shorter irons........SMASHING SET OF FORGED STICKS :smilie_nike::smilie_nike: :russian_roulette: :(

EDIT:

Forgot to add that the Cb-202 also should have a bounce that is similar to the bounce on the Cb-301 irons set, that is a bit more bounce, so they won't dig as easily as the old Cb-201 had a tendency to do.

The Cb-201 already looked perfect - now they have made the perfect set even more perfect.....Miura.....Discover perfection :cheesy:

i just sold a mint set of 201's,they are super sweet sticks but if the 202's are less off-set w/ a higher toe; i think mr miura got it right,,,,,will wait patiently :(

From what I heard the small differences between the old Cb-201 and the new upcoming Cb-202 is:

1. Slightly more bounce on the new Cb-202, so they won't have a tendency to dig quite as easily as the old Cb-201 would do. Bounce almost similar to the Cb-301.

2. Even lesser offset on the new Cb-202 compared to the old Cb-201

3. A slightly more pointed toe - only marginally higher toe.

4. New Golden Miura US logo - I like this logo, but also liked the old one.

5. They guarantee that they are forged in Japan and NOT Taiwan, Thailand or Malaysia - if this is of importance to anyone. Don't know if the finish and final assembling is made in other countries than Japan, though.....

Great looking irons, I have one small problem with them though, and it really is small. Why not write "Straight neck" straight?!?

Michae, this ironset is from Japan - you know.....YIN YAN country :russian_roulette:

The YIN is curved, while the YAN is straight - this is the reason. People from Japan and Asia have another way of seeing things from a design perspective. The old Cb-201 also had the phrase "Straight neck" written in curved shape.

If this is your only problem with this iron - I certainly would say you have found your next set of forged sticks :(

Those are some very nice irons! I used to own a set of the CB-201's. I loved the feel of them, but I must also say that I never liked the look of the 8 iron to PW! They just never looked right to me.

Do you know if they may have changed the shape/size of these with the 202's ???

Either way... these are very nice irons!

Sorry, don't know the shape of the cb-202 8-PW - but my guess is they will resemble the CB-201.

What didn't you like about the Cb-201 8-PW ?

IMO the cb201's looked like 2 different sets, the 3-7 looked great & then the topline changed on the 8-pw :( I'm glad to see that they are changing the bounce, I got tired of cleaning the drit off my ferrules.

I would have to agree with Boba in that the 3-7 irons were really beautifully shaped and seemed to be very well balanced to one another. The 8 - PW looked like they ware bigger and slightly different in shape and just did not seem to be symetrical to the other irons.

That had been my biggest complaint about them.

I actually had been thinking about getting a set of the CB-301's , but these 202's really do look nice. I always liked the split cavity design over the 301's.

If you have never owned a set of the 201's... I will be interested to see how you like the look of the 8 - PW in the set. Especially since you have the 301's.. I would love to hear a comparison.

Either way... good luck with them. I still believe they make one of the absolute best forged irons in the industry.

Thanks,

Mike

I actually like the way the transition goes - the 3-7 looks very edged, while the 8,9 & PW starts to have a more round tear dropshape just like my wedges. The 8 is a bit more wedge like in shape, the 9 a bit more than that and the PW almost looks like my Vokey 200 Tear drop shaped wedge.

The topline is still thin, only thre shape og the head starts to be more wedge like in the shorter irons.

Mizuno does the same, and I know a lot in here doesn't like that. I like my irons to progress in form and shape throughout the set so they resemble my wedges more and more the shorter the iron is.

I actually hope the Cb-202 will look like my Cb-301 when it comes to this point :russian_roulette:

I agree with the comments regarding the configuration of the 201s -- something went astray at the 8i. The 3-7i are lovely, the transition to the 8i was very unlike Miura -- it was clumsy -- still, I enjoyed the clubs.

The 301s do a better job.

I am itching for another set of Miura's, but I am stuck between the 301's, the new 202's or just settling for a set of the Mizuno MP-60's. Sorry... I guess to say "settling" would be wrong. Mizuno are fine irons.

Anyone else out there that has any experience with the 302's and the 201's... I would really love to see and hear the comparison.

The 201's have a more direct and precise feel than the 301's -- imho. The 201s are like a surgeon's instruments -- very precise -- not much offset, dense and very solid with a soft feel when nutted. The feel is unlike any iron I've encountered -- they are not buttery as one would expect -- I'd say dense, precise, solid as a rock, and wonderful when nutted.

The 301s are softer in feel (more mizuno-ish), easier to get up in the air and straight because of a tad more offset, slightly more forgiving, thinner topline, slightly longer heel to toe, better transition through the set, easier grind. Feel smooth as butter when nutted.

These look nice and all, but my course has too many damn rocks in the rough to justify that good looking (or expensive) iron. I'm afraid I would be too afraid to hit them. They have a perfect top line though.

Actually I didn't think the difference bwtween cb201 and cb-301 was that huge - perhaps the cb201 was a bit more "bulky" in the shorter irons.....my cb-201 set got solten last year, but it it wasn't lkike I was puking standing over the ball with the 8 or 9 cb201 iron :partytime2:

But maybe you're right - the cb301 shorter irons looks a bit more defined sharp in the shape - but not by much compared to the cb201 though, but just a little bit better looking in the shorter irons - but still a clear progression from the longer to the shorter irons towards looking like a real tear drop shaped wedge.
