I wouldn't consider two tour putters stripped of their finish to be whole, but I understand that you're way better off than you thought you were going to be. Glad to hear it! Pretty amazing story, that an officer of the law, who happens to be a Cameron collector and happened to know the scammer from a local golf course, was able to intervene and get these two putters back. Great story with a fairly happy ending over on The Cameron Collector as mentioned.

but, yes... if it wasn't for CHP knowing of this guy I don't think it would have ended as happily.... or at least for just return shipping.

 

Didn't realize that it was only the paint fill that was stripped. Much less of an issue. Anyways, having the putters back is huge. Congrats!

I'm no expert but I'm guessing there are liability issues if people are allowed to post personal information on a public forum. It seems the guy who got the sticks back for Joey did so peacefully. However if someone gets personal info from this site and decides to do something not so peaceful there might be some issues.

OK. I'll clarify a bit. He was supposedly visiting his in laws in Modesto for Christmas. I sent the package on 12/22. He claimed to live in Pebble and have a home in La Quinta.

 

We supposedly sent the putters at the same time.

I just don't understand how scum like this don't end up being arrested for their deeds. CHP knows about him? This tells me the LEOs in the area know about what he's up to. And yet he remains free to continue doing it.

The LEO's can only do anything if charges are filed. I got my putters back. This guy's story to me the whole time was the FedEx lost my package because it was incorrectly labeled. So there was no apparent tracking and he had to wait for them to return his putter. Technically there was no evidence of theft, only the possibility of one for me to file any charges.

The other guys that were stolen from need to file charges and that hasn't been done yet. And if they don't do it soon I'm sure there's a statute of limitations coupled with the expense of flying to California and retaining an attorney. My bet is that if this guy starts under 2k worth of items to fleece most people won't file charges or act. And when someone like me does then he makes up stories and sends the items back so the authorities can't get involved.

 

Guys like this win more often because the law doesn't work on speculation.
