Anyone have any experience with the TecTecTec Rangefinders? Slope or non

Yeah. I think I just had a defective unit. That kinda stuff happens. My real problem with it was how hard it was for me to get a lock on the pin. That I think is an issue with the user more than the unit

In pinseeker mode I haven't had any issue. Just make sure you are using the magnification properly.

To eliminate the shakes, I lean my hands against the cart, or anchor my arms on my chest.

And I always use 'scan' to make sure I'm getting the pin.

I just received a TTT rangefinder Thursday and have used it 2 rounds so far. I am having trouble with the pin seeker mode locking on pins. Are there any tricks to using it in that mode to get pin distances? Do you have to keep the power button pressed when using PS mode? I would push the button once and scan side to side on the pin and it would give me yardages to trees or banks in the background. None of my local courses have the pins with the prizms on them. I found myself having to use the scan mode and laser the green if I could or people on the green when possible. I was playing with a buddy using a Bushnell with jolt and his would lock on the pin quickly. I am hoping it is user error and someone can give me some tips on using PS mode. I have to say comparing yardages to the Bushnell they were both within a yard of each other.

I have a lot of problems getting mine to lock the flag at courses without prisms too. I'm thinking that I'll probably pick up a better range finder in the near future. It's fine for my home club since we have prisms but the thing is most useful traveling so for it not to work there is a problem. Had I tested it at non-prism courses during my return period I would have returned it.

 

In Pin Seeker mode I don't hold the button. I know the directions say to move it back and forth but I haven't gotten that to work at all. I just aim it at the flag and hit the button about 20 times. Usually you get lucky and it gets you the flag distance once.

After using it for a few minutes I got the hang of the PS mode and have to admit it is pretty darn accurate. If your used to using a Bushnell with "jolt" it isn't the same point and click technique. I found pointing at the flag and pressing the power button and keeping it depressed while pointing at the flag it locks on after a couple of seconds. Sometimes it will first read the background(trees, banks, etc...) but moving it slowing on the pin with the button pressed it locks onto it rather quickly. Holding it on the flag it reads almost instantly. I have to admit I found myself skeptical that I could get it to work and planned on sending it back in order to spend the extra on a Bushnell. After today I now will be keeping it because for the price it can't be beat as long as it keeps working.

This has been my experience as well. It works really well for me, I am not sure what other people are on about.

I know i have shaky hands. But my only negative was I shot a pin that I know has a huge elevation and it rated the slope as two yards. I play with people that have the tour x and the slope Leopold. They both add 8 yards, almost every time. Sometimes 7 sometimes 9. Bust mostly 8. So I just don't think I was able to get it locked on right.

Maybe they have a model I don't know about... but the normal ones don't have a slope adjustment built in at all. So it was just giving you the straight line distance to the flag.
