?? Glue Machinery Champ 3 Hotmelt Gun ??

Regarding the Glue Machinery Champ 3 Hotmelt gun....

Other than price, are there any downsides to having this kit? Which hotmelt did you find worked best?

I called and spoke with several adhesives companies. Found the one that manufactures an adhesive that several major golf companies use (they couldn't use their names) and bought 20 lbs in bulk (much cheaper to buy in bulk). The gun works phenomenally well and I bought mine used (found one on eBay and got it for a song) and then ordered the nozzle direct from Glue Machinery (I got the 4" vs the 3" that the kit on hotmelt.com comes with).

I worked on tour for one of the OEMs and we used a unit that held about 10 pounds of melt. It wasn't a gun with a hopper it was a melt unit about the size of a 3 gallon bucket with a pneumatic dispensing gun.

I like the credit card glue or the 3M removable gummy glue.

I've got it written down somewhere at home. I actually just started calling companies hotmelt.com had product for and called their offices until i found one that worked with OEM's. It's in pillow packs, I do know that

The Champ gun is what's in several vans now. I know TMag, Callaway and Cleveland all use the gun as I've been in their trailers. Or they did at the time. I was patient and waited till I found a deal on one.

Glue Machinery has got a decent price, and they are selling the PSA glue in 1.1pound packages for not a lot of money, but I just don't think I want to drop retail on something I will use so infrequently. $500+ for a putter I use 20+ times a round, yeah. $500+ for something I use five times in 5 years.....ugh.

I've got the Hotmelt Surebonder 100 with the cartridges, but I do not like the way it heats, I do not like their new cartridges that leak when the heat up (check "valve" issue), and the mechanism is very lightweight for grown male usage.

I've got $107 in 20 lbs including shipping. I figure if I can do 5 hotmelt jobs at $20 each the glue is paid for. If I can do 15 at $20 each, I've paid for everything... I bought it because I got a deal and I use it in my personal clubs. I've done a few for a few people that have asked

Rookie I recently bought the Steinel Hot melt gun (Mitchell Silencer), and I'm having no luck whatsoever in getting correspondence back from the SilencerSytem website.

Is this the same dispenser that you have?

I use the Champ 3 model pretty much daily and the only issue I have with the model is that you need to heat the tip up to get a good flow, I know Ping developed a gadget to keep the tip hot for extended use. The PSA that hotmelt.com sells the is best that I have found. It does not harden even in the cold Minnesota winters.

The big guns with the 3 gallon hoppers are real nice but very spendy and you would need to use it a ton to justify

Looks like they have a few PSAs (GIA 1045, GIA 1085, and GIA 1094). Is there a particular one you like?

Their CEO indicated that GIA1071 was the adhesive he recommended for use with the Champ3. I did not find that on their site, but presume he knows what he has in the warehouse.

I ordered my adhesive from Wilson Adhesives. They developed an application with a few golf oem's. Call them and they can give you the product #. I want to say it's 2701
