my beginning of season swing

Havent hit a golf ball in a few months because of winter so went out yesterday and today trying to get my swing together for the season. Over the winter had all these ideas of changes I wanted to do and then when I went out to work on them I just decided to work on whats natural to me. Im pleased with it to start the season, not perfect but I think it fits me well.

hey thanks, I try to keep it simple. Will clean it up a little more but basic motion will stay the same, will look the same over the years.

Looks very simple and repeatable. Looks real close to Dana dahlquist pattern

yea, I guess I did learn some of stuff from him. He likes the shaft pointing inside ball slightly on backswing and outside the ball on downswing, hands not too low/flat at top of backswing. I don't purposely do them though, kinda just happens. I get clubhead a little too much outside hands on takeaway in that video but its literally like my first swings of the year, plus its not going to hurt anything really. Last year I focused on Tigers early 2000's swing, minus the really outside takeaway and Dana taught me stuff so kinda formed out of that. I hit the ball really good this way, alot higher and straighter. I was very accurate last year

Do you have a FO view?

One thing that I notice is your right elbow does not move on an plane perpendicular to your spine on the backswing; that is, it rises up away from your body on a steeper plane. This forces you to drop it down in transition and that risks getting steep. The FO view is important to see just what your backswing does to your sequence.

not really thinking of doing that. Would just have to bend over more if you wanted that but would still be same attack angle. Tiger did ok though

Arms a little late starting. Doesn't allow body to fire as hard as it could as it must wait for the arms to catch up.

IMO there needs to be a bigger discussion of kinematic sequence in golf instruction.

Just to throw out round numbers.

Assuming the downswing takes about .2 seconds...and let's assume the lead arm fires .05 later than the hips in a perfect sequence. Even if the setup, backswing, planes, angles, rotation, etc. are perfect...

.07 is a problem.

The analogy I use with clients is everyone knows you press the clutch first (lead with lower body), but if you shift the stick too late you grind the gears.

Too much attention is paid purely to the sequence order, ground up, lower body leads, etc., but there is no discussion of intervals.

Sorry if I hijacked, but this is a good swing with an interval that is too long.

Tiger is pretty darn close to perpendicular to his spine if at all above it

Your backswing isn't too bad. Biggest issue IMO is hips never raga in flexion causing you to stand up and turn too level. Shoulders are turning way too level coming down. Right shoulder should work significantly more down than out. Yours works significantly more out than down. It's why your follow through always looks funny

Worked on hips a bit this morning to prevent EE. Had a lesson with Dan on hips like end of december but didn't get a chance to work on it because of weather. Worked on it for like 45 mins this morning and like where its heading. I have alot more room into the shot it feels, which is nice. Kinda had this in mind where I wanted my swing to go this season. What do you think so far Dan?

It's better for sure. Now need to let it go and let arms extend and rotate up over left shoulder. Arms pulling too left without rotating is why right shoulder is getting so far forward if you look at it from FO. As you trust it you can get a lot more dynamic
