Although i have only gamed it a couple of times, the Daddy Long Legs + i got a few months ago really seems to have changed my putting. Ive actually used putters filled with sand or salt for decades but never did it with a high MOI putter. Confidence right now is through the roof with it.

Belly putter. Something about the weight and the fulcrum, and I started making a couple of putts outside of 20' every round. Some rounds were even better.

Sure, I missed a 5' putt every once in awhile, but life was fun with the prospect of making a long putt or two during a round.

I miss my belly putter. I really don't like Peter Dawson.

AP1 irons - made life a whole lot easier (I still play an AP2 PW, and sometimes 9-iron and 8-iron).

And then when I went to regular shafts in the AP1's - even easier still. Best thing I ever did.

Over time there's been a few for me.

First being getting my first titanium driver. I had always been a short hitter as I flipped my wrists. In one year I quit doing that and finally got a Great Big Bertha and gained over 30 yards on my drives. Courses played so different after that.

Next would be after I quit playing a lot I had to rent some clubs on a business trip and they were Burner 2.0's. I had been playing Cleveland TA-1's for many years before then, but realized then I could actually mis-hit the ball and it still end up on the green. For not playing much, they were a huge advantage for me.

The most recent would be finally dropping my 4 iron for a hybrid. I had wanted to do it for awhile as I hit hybrids incredibly well, but I used my 4 iron to punch out of trees. But I made the switch and then practiced punch shots with my 19 degree hybrid. It turns out I'm better at the punch with the 19 degree hybrid (easy to hit straight as an arrow, but can also manipulate flight well too) and 21 degree that replaced my 4 iron is a deadly weapon compared to the 4 iron.

Other than that, it's mostly small differences. The only other one that comes to mind is actually going back to blades after I started playing enough again. I was hitting it way too high with cavity backs so going back to blades my ballflight was better and I actually went up in greens in regulation as I felt more comfortable hitting punch shots that give accuracy over full shots.

A buddy of mine was having trouble elevating his tee shots, he thought it was the shaft. At the time I knew nothing about equipment, we both had R11's so we switched shafts. My driving improved both instantly and dramatically.

The 1st Gen. Diamana Whiteboard 73X changed my driving game, same exact shaft in the bag for 6 years.

My old cobra ss370 driver. This was the first driver I bought with a high cor and made a huge difference to my game.

My v steel 3 wood was the first fairway wood I could ever hit off the deck.

Finally, the original odyssey 2 ball putter. I was deadly with that thing for the 5 years it was in the bag. Took me until I got my Scotty to get comfortable on the greens again.

What's up WRX fam,

I absolutely have done this. My putting was horrible before I bought my first counter balanced putter. I used to have a somewhat yippy stroke. Would miss 2 and 3 ft putts regularly with conventional type putters. From the first second I picked up my ping anser counterbalanced putter I knew I was on to something. Now putting has become one of the strongest parts of my game.

The next one was my first ES soled glide wedge. Its made my sand game much better. Although I was never really bad at it, but it gave me the ability to be more accurate out of the sand with distance control. I did have to try the 56, 58, and 60 before finding which one fit what I needed though.

Lastly was my G25 3 iron. This was probably the most unexpected club to fall in love with for me. It has great feel, awesome off the tee, stupid forgiving, and very consistent.

So who else has made a discovery and what was it?

HiBore XL 2-wood. I shouldn't even carry a driver...but I still do.

A good carry bag and a comfy pair of golf shoes... by far had the biggest impact on my game and my health.

Along with the laser I mentioned, I really do feel walking helped me be a better player. I bought a clicgear a while back when I played at a club that was walking friendly. Walking really helps with a feel for distance, on getting a good idea of the lay of the land, and giving you time to think about whatever you need to between shots.

These days I'm back to flying around in a cart....

Been playing left handed a year after using my mates stuff right handed .

Bought ap1's and played to about 30.

Went and tried XR irons and within a month, was down to about 20 and now 15.3 in a year.

Picked up golf at 41.

My G30 has made that better and my PM grind wedges even more so(from steep greenside bunkers, 12-15ft high and like the side of a mountain in some holes. )

Titleist 983e 8.5 degree driver with speeder 757 for titleist. It was my introduction to low spin drivers and I immediately gained a good 15 yards with my best shots going probably a good 30 yards further than any of my previous drivers. Ive been playing higher cg deep face drivers ever since.

I play a 816 DBD now which is my favorite driver since the 983e. 9015D had a pretty good run too.

Another is the Odyssey 2-ball putter. I could never putt lining up the line on my ball. Standing over 3 footers it looked like i was aiming a foot right with anything else.

Having a scotty cameron putter was considered cool to a high school golfer but the anser style putters with the plumbers neck was terrible for me.

Ive since moved on to the Odyssey Versa 1W BWB. Its even easier for me to line up. Wont ever get rid of this putter. Im disappointed that the newer versions of the 1W have a sight line. May need to back some backups just in case.

So the driver and putter are set. I got bored and just ordered all new clubs for everything in between.

X2hot 3/5 deep with tour ad mt

Apex utility 21 with modus 120

J15 cb with modus 120

J15 50/54/58 black oxide with modus 120

Oh and a tour ad gp driver shaft to try out. all in the past 4 days...

Great Topic

For me:

1. Super Stroke grip added to my Odyssey putter - what a great feel

2. Finally got a GPS watch last year, and that's helping a ton

I'm finally getting fitted for a new set of irons, and I'm anxious to see they feel. Always had off the shelf, and being 6'5", this could be an interesting change.

I never had a driver fitting, and I'm considering it now.......
