Birthday shopping, M1 or M2?

Been playing an Aeroburner TP for about the past year, love it about 60% of the time, like it about 20% of the time and we don't get along at all about 20% of the time. I'm thinking seriously M1 or M2, and yes, I promise to hit them both before making any decision but I would value the thoughts, experience and results of those that have hit both and have made a choice of one over the other as far as what drove your decision. I have watched all of the youtube videos and read all the of the reviews I can find, seems that the M2 works best for most, but then I read the driver reviews in Golf mag and it seemed to indicate almost the opposite. Anxious to hear from many of you.

M2 is going to get my vote. I actually was fitted for the M1 around a week before the M2 came out - and if I could go back I would've waited and gotten the M2. It's more forgiving, sounds better, has more shaft options, and is simpler.

Don't get me wrong, I love my M1. But if you took away all of the adjustability I don't think I'd miss it. If you were transitioning from R15 and loved the movable weights - that'd be a different story. But M2 is the next gen Aeroburner, and would definitely be my suggestion.

Rumors used to be an M2 TP would be coming out sometime in March, not sure if that's true or not.

Can't go wrong either way really. Let us know the results of your fitting as far as clubhead and shaft. Make sure they let you hit the HZRDUS 65g shaft, as well as the Fujikura Speeder.

m2. Here's why

1. I have an r15 and i've NEVER ONCE changed the weights

2. m2 looks exactly the same

3. It's $100 cheaper

4. Unless you want the 430 head - it performs within 1% (either way) of m1

5. It's lighter - which makes it easier to swing and swing fast for most players.

6. In my testing i got better launch (higher) with m2

7. It may spin slightly more - which for the average player is a good thing.

Spin for me was a problem, as my swing had a steep aoa. When moving a weight forward, a perspective purchaser must remember it's a trade off.

Weight forward = less forgiving on off center hits

I'm not sure how Callaway has accomplished a less spinning driver with 'great' forgiveness on off center hits, but that's what happened for me. The XR16 does not have moveable weights. Most golfers, I would imagine, set their weights and never adjust them again. I will say that the 'M' drivers by TM are really nice looking and feel great. I just wouldn't spend 1/2 large to get one.

I started a thread on these yesterday. I currently have an M1 with the KuroKage XTS and considering trying out the M2 after hearing the good reviews coming. A lot of tour guys are migrating to the M2 now so something is up. I've been on a LM twice with the M1 and had decent numbers. 108-110 SS / mid 2000 spin / 12-13 degree, but was only seeing around 255-260 carry. I'd say I need to get my launch up a touch.

Yes the xr 16 is probably my other favorite

I just meant that too much spin is better than too little spin for the "average" player.

You need to hit them both, it's that simple.

Your coming from the AeroBurner, maybe the adjustability of the M1 and a more forward CG might help with your type of swing.

I got to play with the M1 before the release and I was not seeing a tight enough dispersion from it. Soon after my M1 testing I saw a leaked photo of the M2 and decided to wait for it instead of buying an M1 as I don't really need a more forward CG nor a side to side bias.

The M2 has been great for the most part

Pro's......Feel, Sound, Forgiveness

Cons...light head that will need more weight if you play 45" or less, slightly to high of a launch, no 8.5 head

I had a few 9.5 TP Aeroburners last year....to high of a launch at 9.5 for me and no adjustable sleeve did me in. About a straight as my M2 and maybe longer carry wise. I am much happier with the M2 over the AB TP but I have my own personal reasons.

I had an M1. Traded it in and now back with my 910. Reasons: the crown chipped the 1st week I got it. Club just didn't feel right and that was after a fitting.

Another small detail. The bottom movable weights. They collect ALOT of debris. Just for that alone .... I would consider the M2.

Still kind of disappointed how fast the M2 came to market. Oh well.

From what I have seen with numerous people on a launch monitor is that if you are "average" then the M2 certainly works. If you need the adjustability to make the club fit your swing, then the M1 gets the vote. This is with the stock shaft in both - dont have access to other shafts to see what might happen. Good Luck!

Why were you disappointed? Every OEM has two lines of drivers. Everyone knew the Aeroburner was going to be replaced

I love my m1. I tried the M2 and it's nice but the M1 is such a perfect fit for me. I originally had the weight slider set on low, hit it okay. I have it all the way back now and it's a true perfect driver for me. Makes a big difference and my favorite and best club in the bag right now.

I bought an M1 from TMBob before the M2 was released. Just last week, before taking the plastic off my M1, I went and hit them both on a launch monitor. I got similar numbers from both clubs but really preferred the feel of the M1. Compared to my Jetspeed they are both better. I'm a bit of a tinkerer, so I can see myself playing with the weights a bit here in the beginning.

Go M2 and get fitted for the right shaft. With all the shaft options they have at no upcharge you are bound to find the right combo to maximize your performance. Plus you get to keep a Benjamin in your pocket.

I owned a (self fitted) M1 and tried my hardest to hit it well. I even cut it down and hotmelted it to no avail. Quick stint with the King Ltd Pro and after hitting that pretty good I decided to go get fit. I went to Club Champion here in ATL and 1.5 hours later I ended up with an M2.

My fitter did not even have me hit the M1 and when he finally broke out the M2, he called it a very "hot" head. I am now a true believer in dropping the cash to get fit. I was extremely happy with my results.

By the way, fitter said they put lots of guys in the M2.

Are they $400-500 better than the Jetspeed? New driver would be nice but I'm not sure it's worth it.
