P/B version of the cast SS irons from the early to mid 80's. To compete against Wilson 1200, Spalding Executive, Ram Laser, MacGregor CG1800, Hogan Magnum, etc. May be acceptable players in your hands. However, generic in its design from and offers little in the way of acquisition or playability interest. As always, YMMV.

I saw some strange (and incredibly rubbish) looking Mizuno irons today. They were these:

$_57.JPG?set_id=8800005007

I left them there. Didn't see all the irons either way, but my Mizuno Altrons (which look similar) are already hard enough to get rid of.

What he said.

I'll add that I believe them to be decent irons and very playable.

They just are what they are and don't measure up against better forged irons.

All Forged, all the time.

Just got back from the local Goodwill. There was an LH Ben Hogan Speed Slot 4W in the club bin for $4. Just thought I'd mention it as I seem to recall discussions on here about the difficulty in finding LH Hogans (older clubs in general). The club is of no use to me because as Inigo Montoya famously said, "I am not left-handed!".

There were also a few Rawlings Mashers with Lee Trevino's name on them. A driver and another wood plus an iron. Just caught my eye as Masher seems like a pretty good name for a driver.

"I keep hearing that about the woods. No one has really commented about the irons though."

Really? Lets try this again..

The Kaplan compilation of the H&B PowerBilt catalogs said the PowerBilt Citation Laminated woods and Stainless Steel irons were first offered in 1979-1980.

For the 1979 catalog, the Citation laminated woods are listed on page 2 ,and the cast stainless steel irons are listed on page 4.

The title of page 4 of the 1979 catalog for the cast S/S irons is "A New Standard of Superiority"

Cast Stainless steel irons from this period were not the easiest to change loft and lie.

Picked up this Titleist Staff bag for $10. It will be a great holder for clubs I pick up. Also picked up an Orange Dot Ping Zing L Wedge for $2. It’s a gross club but it should provide some PayPal money for my addiction to clubs.

Love that bag.

Thanks. It’s in amazing shape. Zippers are all great. There’s some wear on some of the black cushion parts but I really can’t notice it all that much. The leather is almost perfect.

That bag looks perfect except for the "LS" sharpied on the side.

LOL. Thats the PC 8 iron to my set that has their very own Hogan bag to call home. It’s directly behind the Titleist bag. You got some eagle eyes.

Lots of practice my friend How do you think I spot classic clubs in the pile at work or at Goodwill? I got so excited over the PC I completely missed the Vine's Concordance even I do not have one of those I know what they are

Also found these putters. One is a MacGregor Jack Nicklaus JN100 and the other is a John Letters Kan-It Putter from Scotland. Both cleaned up great and have original grips which feel great and have such character. Don’t know much about them but hopefully they will help me get a Wilson 8802. If not, they are nice to have in the office.

Very nice! You are having quite a bit of success lately. Do you always have this kind of providence? What is your srategery? Do you have the inside track at a few thrift stores? Inquiring minds want to know...

It's something my wife and I love to do together. She got me into it. Honestly, I hated thrifting in the beginning but I wanted to spend time with her. I used to be so bored. I decided to try to redeem it and find something I was interested in. I ended up finding a set of Hogan Power Thrusts and realized I could have fun with it as well. We are fortunate to have a lot thrift stores and antique stores in our area. Antique stores are not very helpful but thrift stores are. We have 3 within about 3 miles of our house that we stop at a lot. 2 of which I can look at almost everyday. We also stop at different stores we know of on our way to and back from places we are going. There's really no strategy other than going all the time. LOL In the beginning I could not keep a whole lot because we had limited space so I sold everything I found. I sold some great stuff that I really regret selling. We moved into a house last year and so It has allowed me to sell what I want and keep what I want which is awesome.

Scroungers gonna scrounge. Keep telling myself, I'm done. Get tired of looking at bins full of junk. Do not want nor need any more golf clubs. Then, one finds item(s) of interest. And the thrill of a "find" returns. And the enthusiasm returns briefly. Poke around, but not like I once did. These days, more interested in finding something for the parts. Grips and shafts that can be repurposed. Found a couple of Yonex irons recently that were quite beat-up. Surprisingly, they had very good condition Neumann wrapped leather grips installed. Always on the look out for salvageable leathers. Removed the grips, trashed the clubs. One of these days, may acquire enough to regrip a set of clubs.

I got that exact same Nicklaus Macgregor putter probably 6 weeks ago. Couldn't pass up on it but it doesn't feel of great quality. Still, an "Ironmaster" Mac Nicklaus putter of any sort is something I'm usually going to pick up for a few bucks like mine was.

Pretty much. It's a hobby for me. It's interesting to see what people donate.

You guys should see some of the jerseys I've got over the years. I sell those on eBay too. I got several brand new 1980 USA jerseys just a couple weeks ago. Was shocked to find them but I've found some really great jerseys over the years. New jeans are big sellers on eBay as well (as long as you are selling them in the Fall).

I picked up a partial set of Ben Hogan Redline ( double underscore for square grooves ) 8,7,6,5,4 for the reason of the Apex 4 shafts in them. I have another set that has a few bent tip and it's almost impossible to find the exact replacement. And I went through the bin 3 times to make sure I did not miss any other from the set.

After cleaning them up, I might just play these after changing the grip with 9,E.SW from the other set first. These have more bag chatter than my set but it's still beautiful and with serial number in the ferrule, so I might not pull the shafts after all.

GW offered up a nearly new condition 3-PW set of 1977 Walter Hagen Ultra irons. Chrome ferrules remind me of Crager Mags on 67 GTO. Also picked a set of 1963 Hogan IPT 2-9 missing the 6 iron. And a Mac Nicklaus Muirfield Lite 1 iron hopped into the shopping cart too. If anyone needs this 1 iron to complete a set PM me, like to pass it on. Heading back there this week to see if the set the 6 iron and PW in the bin.

Goodwill in Beaver Dam?

Doug and I saw some IPTs there with a missing 6 iron. I was tempted, but didn't want to spend time looking for a 6 iron. The Haigs are a great find.
