5 Travis Mathew putter covers, online exclusive from 2012/3, and 2018 Titleist US Open head cover pair, and USA Flag fairway cover. Not sure on the faded one.

Sorrrryyy. Most of it is up on eBay now with low min bids. I wanted to put them up as buy it now but didn't want to wait for the right buyer. I've only played one round so no need for me to be that guy with Titleist covers. I'd rather sell it and keep finding my way into better clubs as I progress.

 

Funny how that works, isn't it? I know exactly what you mean by not wanting to be that guy toting clubs around that are above my pay grade even if they are a few generations old. Desperately trying to blend in as a weekend hack rather than looking like some sort of hapless poser... :stop:

MacGregor MT "Tour Forged". 3-10 complete set. They were at the GW that always tends to overprice their stuff. $6.99 a club. I was Googling only to find I had a "set" of these four years back and was asking about them http://www.golfwrx.c...r-forged-irons/

 

 

I was still a decent player four years back but I did part with them on eBay. Can't think of what I fetched for them but I loved their look.

 

 

I went back for these today as their color code take was 75% off their $6.99 per club price today.

 

 

Well guess what...the 6 iron and PW were missing today when I went back. Dangit.

That's the risk you'll take from these parting out thrift stores.

A lot of new golfers will get a couple of clubs to hack around and break up a complete set of classic club.

 

I don't know if your local store will put the set in will-call for you to go back on the discount day for the week.

3-9 of these Ultras. $4 each was a bit too steep. Nice shafts though. TT Dynamic R flex. Pretty good shape.

100% agree with you on the groove thing Stu. The only good thing about it is how it's made old gear prices go down. In true hoarding style I don't sell anything so it works for me. Haha

 

At least the USGA has something to harass old ladies about, so I guess they've got that going for them.

Brought it home ripped off the crusty dry Winn grip it had and slid this SS on it. Going in the bag for my next round. Cheers

BTW I think I have a 56 to match it but I think it is chrome

STU, of course I found it by Lowes. Sorry, I couldn’t resist at 2.99. I hit it during lunch today, it’s a keeper. Like I said. I got a weakness for the Cleveland Gunmetal finish.

We could do that but the only ones playing vintage would be you Bear and myself. Bear is like me will try to hit anything. I gotta try those 1974 Wilson Staffs I found in the bins last week. Full set 2 thru PW. According to the Wilson gurus on here mine have regular shafts. Yep I am home this afternoon. They kinda clipped my wings at work seems I have exceeded hours of service regulations. Got 70 hours and 2500 miles in the last 7 days. But I am out WFO at 4:00 AM in the morning. Will run tomorrow and Friday then off the weekend. Can not wait for the week of Labor Day I am on vacation

So I went across town today. I never have a reason to go that way, but I had to go meet with my supervisor about more hours and a pay raise.

 

So I had a reason to get over to my favorite dumpster. Decent haul. Some highlights: Callaway, TM, Snake Eyes, Nike wedges; full set of Cobra 3100 (4-SW), Cobra SS 5, SMT driver, Arnold Palmer, Rollface putters.

 

I also stopped by a GW (of course) and grabbed a funny looking old school 8802 "Petersen Spoiler 3507" putter with a bent hosel for $0.99. It has a cool insert - threw it in the vice and I think I bent it about back to normal.

If memory serves me, some places have a limited shelf/barrel time for sports equipment, and when these items are past it, then adios...

 

Goodness, you guys have likely seen more RH equipment in the last 5 years than in the previous 20.

 

To some of these places, the boxes have more value.

 

Might as well start hosting some classic events, expecially if you play golf for more than 9 months/year..

 

Would any of these clubs qualify?

I've tried to figure that out for some time. I have no real good theory other than their store isn't a big box, so it's limited space? Or maybe they have a dozen of the same set? I honestly have no earthly idea. They've thrown (and continue to throw) away pretty decent stuff. That store I got those from, that's a nice area, and I wish I could get out there more often but it's really a stretch out from me. I can't even imagine all the stuff I've missed over the last several years but whenever I hit it, I usually get something.

 

I asked one of this store's employees if they donate to First Tee or anything, and the guy told me they do donate to First Tee. But I honestly can't figure out why they chuck out perfectly good clubs. Some of the sets I get have obvious problems (weights missing, or really scratched up, or bent whatever), but there are sets that from all intents and purposes are perfectly functional.

I also stopped at my favorite GW this evening and got a set of TMs (5-PW) and an Adams A4 3 wood (Matrix Ozik stiff shaft is only reason I grabbed the Adams).

 

The irons actually will replace those old Cleeks I have in that TM bag perfectly (if the Regular rifle steels aren't too whippy for me).

Yeah I really can't quite figure it out, other than what you said is the only thing I could think of in the past - they just don't have the space for stuff and the manager just randomly grabs clubs/sets whatever and just tosses them randomly. I do not have a clue. I've gotten tons of good stuff over the years.

If anyone is interested in these please PM me - I will let them go for next to nothing. Looks like a small dent (and small bend in, towards the grip section) on shaft of 9 iron shaft. Small dent on leading edge of the 4 iron. Will have to examine them a bit more.
