When a player has the best results with a Steelfiber shaft but he wants to play a steel shaft with a little more weight (105g-120g), what should he try?

are you wanting steel because of cost? Nippon makes great steel shafts.

What steelfiber shafts? SF have different shafts that vary from the 70g range all the way up to 125g.

 

In terms of bend profile, the SF shafts are much closer to DG in the profile than anything else. On the heavy side of your range, a DG staft soft-stepped to bring the weight down would be an option. DG shafts are not 132g cut to length anyway, so once you start getting into SSx2 you begin to get below the 120g weight range.

That makes sense, since I am a DG guy... ;-) But I wanted to loose some shaft weight. The Dynamic Gold SL is not the feel that I like - it feels somehow hollow/harsh to me. So I thought Dynamic Gold AMT makes sense?

The Nippon Modus 120 is a great feeling shaft - but I hit short balloons with it.

Honestly I'd just go with the Steelfiber i110 instead. It sounds like you really liked the i95 and they performed well but were just to light. As far as I know the i95 and i110 play just about identical except for the added weight (if I remember correctly).

I have always heard that the Steelfiber 110's were dificult to swingweight? I have a set of 95's in a back-up set but wish there was more static weight. Any one have any insight in the 110 Steelfibers?

So what is your concern with why you want the SF/DG profile, lighter, but only steel? Price?

 

I have tried DG SL as well, did not find them comfortable either....so I'm with you on that.

 

Don't have experience with AMT. From what I understand, the purpose is more solely focused on the longer irons and maintaining MOI through the set. If you like the shorter iron DG weight, but struggle with the irons as they get longer, then they might be an option. If you are not really happy with the shorter irons either with the DG weight, then I can't see you really being happy with them either since the AMT weight in the short irons is designed to be the same.

I reshafted my J40's last season with Steelfiber 110's. I was between the 95's and the 110's for a while, decided on the 110's coming from PX, DG s300's and C-Tapers. I felt I needed that extra weight, so went with the 110's. My SW is D2 in all my irons/wedges & they are standard length.

Golfrnut, Dynamic Gold is the best feeling shaft in my opinion and I like the trajectory. In the short irons I am fine with them - but I think I could have a bit more comfort and help in the longer irons...

Steelfiber 95 is a great shaft, but I miss the DG feel in the short irons and they are big upcharge. So I think I might give the AMT a try.

dynamic gold sl is not the answer, i tried those and failed miserably. they have the stiffest tip of all the dynamic gold shafts, check the chart, they are the lowest launching and spinning. you would think because they are super light (SL), that they would perform better ,but they didnt for me. You must swing really hard to get the most out of the SL

You can soft step and add some shaft inserts. Makes a big difference in helping sweeten the feel of the SL's a little bit.

I've always heard that the steelfibers play stiffer... is there any truth to that? What would a Stellfiber 95 stiff be closest to in a Dynamic Gold or Project X?

 

Steelfiber is on the lower spinning side too correct?

I'm thinking of going the other direction. I have Nippon 1150gh that weigh 107-110 grams. I'm not 100% sure of the weight but I'm considering the i110. You may want to consider the Nippon. My 6 iron SS is 88-90.
