Indeed, the yellow Giannini headcover is the current one shipped with each new putter purchased from the website. You are correct, it goes very well with the great feeling WINN yellow and black grip we selected as the grip for a Giannini. I will have a silver satin finish on models in two weeks. Look for them on the website around Oakmont Time.

If only a Giannini could find it's way into a PGA pro's bag at Oakmont..HUMMMM????????? Wouldn't that headcover stick right out on your plasma jumbo flat screen?

I think that this is a great opportunity to win a extremely nice putter, however it is going to get out of hand with people doing this. i guess at the same time though it will bring a lot more people to the forum. So I guess it is a win win situation for the forum.

I think the bickering is coming from the obvious that one person has posted it somewhere for people to come vote for him. Nothing wrong with a little self advertising, but if you want a true slogan chosen by what the public thinks is the best it might not come to that. It will most likely be a popularity contest to some people. I know you probably don't see a problem with it as you are getting your name broadcast out further, but some people do based on principle.

 

Although, there isn't much that can be done to control. Good luck to all the finalists and to KG putters. May the BEST slogan win.

Here is the reason for the difference in votes -vs- views in my opinions I posted in the other thread

 

Although I am new here I think the reason for so many views is the one finalist in your contest posted a link on about every other golf forum out there. Yes that is how I found this site, but his spamming boards to win votes has resulted in the # of views being out of balance to the number of votes....

 

I feel your line if putters is very nice, and i am sure the winner will be proud to own one, but begging for votes.... jeez it's like a kid asking to be voted class president, makes the entire process more like a popularity contest than a true vote system..,.

The trouble with doing this in a vaguely democratic way means you run the risk of voter apathy, particularly when they aren't up for a prize or a cut in their income tax - Let's face it we aren't used to a choice either side of the pond - John Jackson or Jack Johnson as per Futurama. Obviously imperial style benevolent dictatorship is the way forward, I'd just impose my slogan on them and take the putter myself before ordering a month of games in the arena and some dancing midgets - Oh yeah!

This is a business, and a new one at that. I would only recommend that you choose the winning slogan... the one that fits what your vision for the company the best. Internet voting is going to be skewed no matter what, (spamming, younger people with more time on their hand, etc.)

 

I wish you the best success in your new venture, and feel that the last 2 on your list are the most professional and reflect best on the image you may be trying to project to the market place. (I don't know who submitted them, nor care. They are the 2 I feel reflect the most professional image)

While none of my slogans made it to the finals, this ballot stuffing bothers me on behalf of the other contestants and in the name of fairness. I would just remind that this was not a contest to see who could get the most number of votes by any means possible, which is what happened. The terms of the contest were that the people were supposed to vote for the best slogan. It turned out, due to unscrupulous actions, to be a "who can get the most number of people to follow a link and vote for me contest." By posting on other websites saying vote only for me so I cen get a free putter, the rules were violated. Had the post on other sites been "here is a contest, vote for the best" then it would still be a valid and fair election. Accordingly, I would believe that the rules of the contest were violated by ballot stuffing.

 

I would say that the prize should go to the slogan that kgputters.com likes the best, not by an unfair vote due to the unfair practices which violated the spirit and the rules of the contest. While you would have every right to award this to whomever you want, if it is awarded based upon unfair actions which the other 4 people did not choose to do, I personally would lose respect for the contest, the slogan, and the company. I may be just one opinion, but I believe from other posted comments that other people believe this contest is now invalid and not a true vote anymore. How you choose to handle this can determine how your company is perceived publicly.

 

I know that if I was in the running still, and I finished second, that I would want nothing to do with this company because without the ballot stuffing, I would have finished first. I just do not think it is just or fair that the second place winner gets nothing while a cheat who violates the spirit of the contest gets a custom putter.

 

Just my 2 cents, whatever that is worth. And no, I do not know any of the contestants. I am just an honorable person who does not like to see dishonarable actions rewarded.

Ok, let's get to the issues. I've set back and let everyone else say how wronged they feel for a few days now. First, Mr. Percival and Mr. Giannini selected the 5 finalists based upon what they liked. That means if they were leaving it up to the public, then they were fine with ANY of the five finalists, even including 10 feet, 10 inches.

 

Second, there were NO RULES stating that you couldn't ask people to vote for your slogan. No rules mentioned on the post, or email, or standard mail, or anything. It may not be what YOU would have done, but that doesn't make it against the rules to do so. Any of the contestants were free to do whatever promotion of the contest that they wanted. I, personally think my slogan is the best of the five, and believed others would agree, and didn't mind stating so. I was not promising anyone anything in return if they voted for me. I simply made them aware of the contest, that I was a finalist, and I'd appreciate their vote. If I were running for office, I wouldn't mind telling people to vote for me. I sincerely disagree that posting "I'd appreciate your vote" is "by any means necessary" and "ballot stuffing."

 

Third, you also assume that every person that saw a link to the contest was a., a golfwrx member and able to vote, b., voted against their conscience, and c., mindlessly voted for me because I said I'd appreciate it. That's a lot to believe. The reality is this: If a person were offended that I linked to the contest and thought it was unfair that I did so, then they would have voted for someone else, EVEN IF they thought I had the best slogan. I truly believe that the negativity from the other posts negates any perceived advantage that some many feel I had. I believe still that is why I'm still in the running, because people aren't going to bother to read 20+ posts of someone's rants. They are going to look at the poll and vote for the best slogan. Mr. Percival SAID IT BEST in his post,

I couldn't say it better any other way!!

 

Fourth, I don't have any way to prove the numbers, but I'd be willing to guess that 80% of the people who may have seen a link to the contest had never heard of GIANNINI PUTTERS. That's a lot of folks brought to the site and a lot of pub. And I venture to say that 40% or so, had never heard of golfwrx. I believe everybody should have promoted their slogans and the contest because publicity benefits the owners.

Wook, I don't think trying to sway the owner with loss of respect is the way to go, besides you've already bought a putter from them.

 

I think that the best slogan will win, despite all the gripes, because most won't read the gripes, they'll just spend 30 seconds and vote what they like best, no matter who directed them there.

Alot to be learned here about self-promotion and effective corporate identity management.

Bravo ATEUPWITHGOLF. Way to stand up for yourself. These members that think this was the end all slogan contest for my company is so far from the truth. I asked all five finalists for their release of their slogan for our use. I happen to have a favorite one that will be used as will the other 4 as well. I see one guy who did a little more to garner attention his way. He could be looked at as smarter than the competition, just as easily as he can be called a ballot stuffer. The winning slogan will get the custom for sure. The others are great too. I just can not believe that this has turned a little sour, when it was just a fun contest to award a member. Darn if I wanted all the big shots for Pro marketing help with slogans, than I am smart enough to hire a specialist in that field. I just wanted a fun shoot out - and that is what I got. I feel some of you really wrecked it with negativity. I am not worried about the company's reputation, as Giannini has been a proven designer for decades. The product is a cut above a lot of putters on the market. You will be hearing Giannini putters a great deal more in the future. Self promotion, and effective corporate management. Wow IBM stuff....This is just flatstick land my friend!

That said,

I'm endorsing "One Name One Putter One Putt."

How we roll is a familiar slang that is cute but not really a golf slang that reaches the core golfers.

 

 

Come On Now How we roll is used for everything from Sports games, movie clips, and bling bling ads.

If how we roll wins there might even be lawsuits pending from ESPN.
