Each year our high school golf team does a fundraising "game" on the one par threes in the annual boosters scramble.

Typically it is one of those "circle" games where players bet on themselves to hit it inside the circle to win a sleeve of balls or whatever.

 

I want to do something different this year to make it more fun for everyone because typically we have a bunch of people who only play a couple of times a year and they have no chance with the above "game".

 

Here is what I am currently thinking. Tell me if it is too complicated or if there are any holes in my plan. Or if you have a better idea as well.

 

1. $5 automatically enters the player into a 50/50 drawing

2. If they hit it over the water they get their name in twice.

3. If they hit the green they get their name in three times.

 

Once all players are through we draw a name and let the tournament director know who won. He can hand out the $$ with the hole prizes.

 

I feel like this might generate more interest from the people who normally do not enter because they have little or no chance of hitting it inside the circle. We also don't have to go marking up the green with a circle.

How many players? If a full 144, then your fundraiser tops out at $360. Is that enough?

What's a 50/50 drawing game? Does that mean half the pool goes to the winners?

 

Why not just have some sleeves of balls planted around the green with a dozen for NTP. You can put a sleeve short, some in the bunkers etc. Gives all the choppers are chance at something if nearest to the sleeve say in a bunker. Be a lot cheaper as well for you so more coin for your team.

 

I have never heard of this before but my dog thought it was a good idea!

For a non golfer that sounds like something I would be open to trying worst case scenario is I am still in the drawing. I think I would charge $10 though just because it is a fund raiser and people expect to spend money. Good luck.
