Played Berkshire yesterday. My mens association traveled, payed a decent rate for a semishotgun and food and beer after. Only to find the greens had been verticut very recently. Pretty crappy to do to 50 guys paying over the standard rate.

That is a crappy thing to do. How long ago was this planned out? Usually in this area, mid-August is when the greens get punched, so I'm not surprised they were done.

A long time ago. Wasn’t all bad though, as I started on one, heeled my driver down the path line, bounced like David sims hitting tin cups 7 iron down the road, went past pin high in rough and chipped in for eagle.

What do you guys think are necessities for playing golf into winter months? Flask and good base layers?

those hot hands chest pads work great for me, 2 hand warmers and i am good to go for the day. i can’t play with to many layers on so usually just a long sleeve thermal with a long sleeve or short sleeve polo and insulated pants. grabbed a few of amazon they work great. > @easye732 said:

under armour; titleist mittens with hot pads/packets; warm vests (jackets get cumbersome); winter hat/band; cart heater...trust me on this one.

Has anyone driven thru East Hanover on rt 10 lately? Apparently there is a PGA Super Store going into the old Babie's R Us that was sitting across the street from Novartis. I haven't been out that way in a while, but I saw something on the website about it while looking at drivers.

 

Anyone seen any sign that this is the case? It said "coming winter of 2020".

there is definitely one going in. i asked the golf galaxy boys in east hanover about it "what are you guys gonna do?"...they shrugged, smirked and said, "we aren't that busy in the first place..."

I will say, during the winter, I will be def be going to the PGA Store to use the bays and unlike the one all the way out in Paramus, it will be open on Sundays. I will be curious to see if they attract more traffic than Golf Galaxy. The one in Paramus is super busy, especially during the winter.

 

Did you happen to notice if it's looking like it's going to be opening soon? or is it still just a deserted building?

i dont' venture through east hanover all that often -- i have no idea. i know all the fellas/women at paramus so, will be interesting to see who's going to work at EH.

If the new store has the same # of bays as Paramus PGATSS , the same amount of demo gear and that big putting green, I have 0% reason to ever set foot in GG ever again.

Well, in the picture below, they are moving into the building on the left. That looks like a pretty big space for them to operate in.

Compare that to the building that is in Paramus, the Paramus one might be a little bigger, but it's a different shape, so they could be identical, or close, in square footage.

I just took a ruler out and did a X by Y measurement of each building on my screen:

 

Hanover - about 2.25'' x 2.25'' = 5.0625 in^2

Paramus - 2.25'' x 3.75'' = 8.4375 in^2

 

Roughly based on this, the East Hanover store would be about 60% the size of the Paramus one.

Wow this is big news. Very excited. I've been stuck with GG recently since East Hanover is about 15 min vs. 45 to Paramus. Could see GG going away/being absorbed into the DSG - maybe with a separate entrance and whatnot.

Who knows. I did the Tour Van fitting when I first started golfing 3-4 years ago and I still struggled with a slice and flipping. Guy sees this and goes hmmmm, think this might help - Hands me a low spin head (forget if it was like a M1 or what) coupled with a X stiff HZRDUS Black. He lofted it down to like 8*, too. Keep in mind I was probably only swinging the club about 95mph lol. Needless to say this did not work but he still recommended I play the absolute lowest lofted club, lofted down as much as possible with the stiffest, lowest launching shaft available. Quite literally the opposite of what I really needed at that time (other than lessons).

Yep PGATSS. I also got a putter fitting from the same guy and he didn't use SAM or anything. He put me on a velvet roll board and I hit like 10 putts and he just said ok you need XYZ. lol. Knowing what I know now, I wish I could go back in time and stop myself from wasting my money there on that stuff. He was bragging to me too how he worked at a private club down the road but guys there would prefer to go to PGATSS to see him exclusive to get fit.

 

No offense to him, seemed like a really nice guy but after having gone to TXG and just being immersed in this place with all the really knowledgeable people, I feel like I was duped.
