I live in North Jersey this morning and saw someone from my window leave our building with their bag and push cart this morning around 8:30. My girlfriend said she saw them come back in around 4:45 looking like they played a full day of golf. I wonder where they even found a place to go.

As far as I can tell there is no such restriction when trying to make a tee time online through their website.

??? I don’t understand what your point is? I believe he lives in Sussex county which is pretty close to Port Jervis. Heck, people commute daily to the city from there. I knew someone who lives in Clifton and was taking the Main Line home from Hoboken, fell asleep and woke up in Port Jervis.

If we wore masks on the course like they do everywhere else, I seriously don't get why we can't play. If I can go and walk down a 4ft wide aisle every week in Shop Rite for an hour, surely I can go walk around 200 acre piece of land and be able to stay away from people. If these people are working 8 hours a day in these potentialyl virus ridden stores... how can it be any less safe to be outdoors? Any club that is open won't let you touch the flag stick, no riding together... etc.

If courses are closed for half the season, that could wreck them financially... and many courses were already struggling.

Now that New York courses are able to re-open with the stipulations, I am holding out hope that Staten Island courses open for this weekend. I'm only 30 minutes from La Tourette and Silver Lake here in Monmouth County and would definitely make the drive this weekend.. La Tourette was actually the last round I played in Mid-March before all of this happened. Don't see any tee times up yet.

Couldn't agree more... especially if they spread out tee times even more. I am sure these courses would appreciate the business even if it is not a full slate of times as usual.

Idon't even think you need to spread out tee times... Just limit any tee time to two or maybe three players, walking only. Yes, they wood have reduced revenue but surely that would be better than zero revenue.

Before this even happened, a few courses were already implemening safe practices like no cash, no riding, holes upside down and so on.

I get that the states want to limit people being exposed as much as possible... It just irks me how relatively speaking, golf isn't a particularly risky activity if the players and the courses take common sense precautions.

I think I'm just especially triggered bc I can't even hit into my own net seeing as I'm in a condo... Literally 0% golf for me right now.

The Staten Island courses allow out of towners to make tee times and now you will have to pay in advance online so I am not sure if they are technically set up to enforce that. I hope they don't!

Yea I'd hate to be able to make and pay for a reservation online only to be pulled over by a NY cop to tell me that NY isnt allowing out of towners in.

Why would NY not allow anyone in? I go to Staten Island every weekend to see my parents. This is still America, right?

I havent heard or seen anything about that but honestly it would not surprise me if they did that. Everything is backwards these days

Good to know that someone has gone to NY without issue. only reason I said that is because if they still look at NJ as a hotspot and dont want people coming in and "infecting" NY'ers.

 

Yes its still America but the way some governors have been enforcing lockdowns, makes you think twice. ie people getting arrested for being parks etc
