Anyone heard anything?

Aldila have given us the envy, the envious and the by you.

I'm reliably informed that the new shaft will be called the Devious (presumably DVS?). The question's go out to those in the know or anyone that may have heard something.

Does anyone know the characteristics of this shaft?
Where will it fit in the market place?
When is the release date?

And more importantly, what colour will it be?!

I've held one but not hit it. Red in colour. High launch, low spin from one source, high launch, high spin from another. Colour looks good, but whenever I see a red shaft, even the X Con in my driver I think of a prolite.

Is the red very similar to the original prolite? I suppose there's only so many colours to choose from so manufacturers will have to cross now and then.

No it's a sparkly scarlet. There is a pic floating around on one of the other websites. I know Chucky Howell used it for a tournament a couple of tournaments back.

I saw it at the Stanford St. Jude this past week. As earlier described, it is a red color and it is a DVS. The Aldila rep said that it was getting a lot of attention, but that was about all he said.

It is probably being launched at the Open, although thats not definite. They are aiming to launch that or the MOI proto then. The shaft they've got real high hopes for is the XVS/XPP tour protos that will launch next year at Orlando. Sound like they are going to be a much dearer design.

 

On a seperate note, just had a 4dx hybrid shafted with the VS 95S Hybrid, and it's performing brilliantly.

Yeah, I also read that one of the big shaft manufacturers would be launching a new shaft at the Open so I presume it must be this one.

 

Heard a lot of good things about the VS as a hybrid shaft mate. Good choice.

We have a new shaft coming out called the DVS and I was working with Charles Howell last week and he switched to it. It’s a brand new product that we just took out on TOUR. Boo Weekley just switched to it as well. Getting to work with guys that haven’t previously been in one of our shafts is kind of fun. This new shaft is going to come in three or four different gram weights. It’s a butt stiff, low torque profile shaft designed for guys that want to launch it high but also need a little bit of extra spin. You know, you hear a lot about guys trying to take spin off their driver shots out here, but some guys actually need a little bit more spin because the right amount of spin is what keeps the golf ball up in the air longer. So you can’t just make the blanket statement that driver spin equates to distance loss. It’s the correct amount of spin that leads to optimum driver performance. And in the case of this new DVS shaft, the ball is going to spin a little more off the driver than it would say with a NV or a Proto. The other thing with this DVS shaft is it probably has the smoothest bend profile from start to finish in the golf swing of any of the shafts we’ve offered out here. Guys are telling me how smooth it feels. That’s the word they use to describe it; smooth. So, I’m excited to have this shaft out here. Guys are digging the feel.

I've heard of that one above and I know that one in the link above is not the new DVS which as mentioned is red not black. Someone from Aldila was on the boards a few weeks ago and said this but I can't seem to find the thread.

 

The MOI proto is up on the site now - http://www.aldila.com/product17.html . First time I've seen that one.

That's going to be tough because the NV has made a huge resurgence on tour this year helped by Zach Johnson's win at Augusta. Considering how old the NV is (Ben Curtis' win at The Open started it) it's amazing that a shaft under $100 is still so widely used on tour with the much more costly Fujis, Diamanas, and Oziks that keep churning out new shafts year after year after year. Not to mention Aldila's own VS Proto that labled the NV on steroids that really hasn't gained all that wide accepatance on tour.
