2016.. my "Major Season"

So I have been fortunate to have played at many courses around the US and some internationally.

 

2 recent invites will allow me to complete a 'major season'. 'Major Season' meaning playing 4 courses that have held a major recently.

 

In April, I played Pinehurst #2. Site of multiple US Open's, a PGA championship, Ryder Cup, US Am and a US Women's Open

 

I was fortunate enough to get an invite to play Oak Hill's East Course later this year and that will probably take place in August or September. Since it is in Rochester, NY I was able to go watch Dufner win in 2013. But also host to the US Am, PGA Champ, US Open, Ryder Cup and US Sr. Open

 

Last week I got a phone call and was invited to play Baltusrol, Lower Course, on May 13 and I said yes right away... site of many majors but will host the 2016 PGA Championship... along with past US Open's for the men and women, US Am

 

That left 1 more PGA Tour stop to fulfill my major run and I decided it will be Bethpage Black. Hopefully with Travis, 518TitleistX, in July. Which has hosted the US Open, PGA Champ, a tour stop this year for the Barclay's and will host the Ryder Cup in 2024.

 

Baltusrol is the lone course that I will play this year that will host a major in the same year, yet from what I hear they try and keep No. 2 up to major standards year round. It will still be surreal for me to walk Baltusrol knowing that in 2 months the greats of today will be walking the same fairways and putting the same greens as me.

 

this thread is nothing more than me sitting here eating my lunch thinking it is a pretty cool task to complete in 1 season.

 

I know, I know... someone will point out that I did not play Augusta, but I did go to the Masters this year.... so maybe this will be the J2A Slam.. since that's what people do when someone does something pretty cool yet it is not the real thing.

 

I am pretty excited about this and it has been a while since I started a thread. I usually just poke my nose in, give my 2 cents which I feel is worth a dime, maybe stir the pot a little and sit back to see what tangents we can go on.

 

If anyone has any advice for Baltusrol Lower Course, let me know..... Should I ask them when they're going to sue Edel for stealing their logo? ;)

Awesome OP!! A little off topic, but I hope to go to Hazeltine this year and watch the Ryder Cup. Wish I was good enough to score an invite to a prestigious course. Very jealous!

It's not about the HCP... more about the experience. A friend of mine joined there late last year so it was more of a nudge from me than anything

Hazeltine would be a nice place to visit. Baltusrol fell in my lap last week. I said yes, then asked for permission.... haha

Very fun summer ahead of you! I had the chance to play Hazeltine a couple months before the 2009 PGA and I remember having the same mindset thinking that it's awesome that pros would be playing there too. They played much better than I did though haha

well, will see what happens.... Friday weather looks pretty bad and we are on a holding pattern. It was 90% chance last night of severe thunderstorms and today it is 80% .. hoping that trend continues.

Very Cool. Always glad to hear stories like this. I got an invite through work to play Firestone South later this summer. Best course I will have ever stepped foot on. Your year looks fantastic. Enjoy J2a.
