Is this a Golfsmith-only bag? It looks like a Three 5 without the nicer EZ-FIT strap.

 

Anyone know the scoop?

Yes, made for Golfsmith. Hence the "GS" in the name.

So what am I missing? At $149.99, it undercuts the Three 5 tremendously, and is basically the same bag, using the old Titleist/SM straps from 2010 or so.

 

Got to be something to it that I am missing?

I looked at the bag today and one difference I noticed was there was no beverage holder on the GS1.

The zippered pocket on the side of the ball pouch is lined and has an image of a water bottle on it.

Golfsmith now has this bag on sale for $99. Tough to beat. I bought one on impulse (was looking at the 2.5, but it was $219), hoping to find more info on it. It's frustrating to me that SMS doesn't put the weight of the bag on the tag. I know the 3.5 weighs over 4 pounds (4.3 i think). I can't find anything on this bag on SMS site, so it was helpful here to see that it's a variation of the 3.5

I saw the GS bag today, was noticeably lower quality than a Three 5- meaning the feel of the materials used. Just had that 'cheap' feel to me. Not a bad deal, but I'd still go with the Three 5 vs the GS.

The bag uses the same strap system they used on the 2010 or so Titleist bags, and honestly it seems like they just used left over parts. I would't say lower quality, just not the same as the current model Three 5.

Had to go to Golfsmith today.. checked out the GS1.. very much not the quality of a sun Mountain bag. Everything about the bag feels cheaper. IMO there is nothing that would make me buy that one unless price was the end all be all
