Hit the 716 T-MB today...... Shouldn't have Update 6/24

Man, I've been curious about these clubs for quite some time now, but never had the opportunity to see the short irons (the MOTO stuff). I got a chance to see the PW and W and hit the 7iron. I thought that they would have that hollow feel to them, but they felt really solid. They felt better than my S55's. Now I'm sitting here trying to convince myself not to buy them.

Love mine! Started with 4-6 at the end of last year. Now I have 3-gw. Lol

They short irons are money and the long irons are stupid easy to launch. I alternate 3 iron and 7 wood depending on course.

I have the 6,7,8 and 9 in the T-MB. I love them. They are perfect if you want the look of a blade, but need some more forgiveness.

 

I found I liked the SM-6 46 degree better than the T-MB PW, and so I play Vokeys on down from there.

 

Up top, for some reason I hit my 712-U 4 iron better than the T-MB, but this does not seem to be the case with most people.

i think the shaft plays a factor, my first set had the AMT S300s, they were awesome, second set had the XP90s, which just not right... my current set has the KBS Tour 90s, which are money

As much as I want to tell you to get them....what you have is pretty sweet. Are they going to shave 3 or 4 strokes off your round?

 

I've got a bag completely comprised of Titleist clubs so it's clear I love the clubs (I have 714 AP2's for irons) but no need to change just because...

 

It's a very slippery slope that will lead to chasing gear and not game. I'll get off my soapbox now. There is no question you'd love those clubs but if those Pings are keeping you straight don't chase the dragon....he cannot be caught.

I also have the Tour 90's. Love the clubs!

Picked up a TMB 3-iron with a Modus3 125 X. So far off the tee, the thing's been a beauty.

 

Things it doesn't do:

 

It doesn't feel as good as my Tourstage Irons. It's basically a stand alone (at the moment). And compared to them, if does feel a little harsh. But, when you are hitting it upwards of 250 yards every time off the tee, with a medium ball flight it's hard to complain.

 

It doesn't look the prettiest, but they remind me of old Taylor Made irons one of my friends used to play way back in junior golf. The design is more or less the same, slap in a little tungsten and you got yourself a world beater...

 

I don't want to see the short irons. I have a feeling they will be one that eat at me. Not quite the best feeling, but dead straight performers, is what I imagine. Had some pretty good day dreams over them, to be honest.

Well, in a fit of a drunken stupor I bought them yesterday. I guess we'll see how they fair against my current set up. Also bought the 56 and 60 pm grind callys.

I absolutely love these irons by appearance only. Unless I purchase a set I doubt I will get to hit them. The thing that keeps me from doing anything is the simple fact that I have a Satin tour issue set of Adams CB3's. I hit them plenty far and very straight with the tour shafts. There is NO reason whatsoever for me to look at anything. However when I see these clubs the itch returns big time to try them. other than the Apex black irons these are probably the best set of irons in appearance that I have ever seen. Oh man if they were a little cheaper I don't think I could hold out.

FWIW- I hate, HATE hybrids but that's me. Never found one I liked I suppose. Hit a friend's 2 iron (T-MB). Wow, just WOW!. Love my Titleist irons but this is just what I wanted. If the rest hit the ball like the 2 then you're in for a real treat.

I have to respect this post. Opposite sides of the spectrum. How high were your scores with the T-MB that you went all the way to the other end of the equipment zone?

I can tell you that they will really have to be great to beat out the S55 short irons. Thats the only thing I'm worried about.

Just as a reference I ordered mine with the KBS tour V X SS1X. Right now I play the KBS Tour X SS1X. Wedges will have the KBS Tour V wedge flex.

I had them and liked them but went back to pure blades in both sets. I just didn't get THAT much better performance from them. I may not be a great example though because even though I "ho", I keep coming back to forged MB.

 

I just feel the pure blade makes better contact from the rough where I am too often. I also use different irons for chipping around the greens and to me the MBs do a better job at chipping.

The chipping was the deal breaker for me on these. I just couldn't dial in distance with my bump and runs.. I play really fast greens though and I was going way past the hole way too much. They have a very springy feeing for these type of shots..
