Leupold GX3i not working great

Hey I got a gx3i a few months ago and was working fine. Now I can't seem to get it to read anything for the past few weeks. Flags with or without reflectors, trees, sometimes I can get bunkers and the maintenance guys but that's it, and like I said only sometimes it will read those. I'm not sure if I'm in the wrong "mode" or what. Has anyone had this problem. I'll be at work, but if I need to describe anything else please let me know.

I was getting only double digit readings when I was well outside 100 yards. I contacted Leupold, they asked me to ship it back, which I did, and they sent me a new unit.

Oh ok cool. Well I will try it again on Monday, if it doesn't work I will contact Leupold

Make sure it did not get switched over to fog mode

Check the bottom lens to see if anything is on it that would block the laser.

So I had a chance to test it out the last couple days. I didn't change anything but I noticed when I looked through the lens it looked a bit hazy. I either let it focus or took it away from my eye to let it settle. Didn't always get the distance the first time, but its working much better.

have you tried replacing the battery? when you mean "hazy" is it out of focus, have you dialed the eye piece back in?

Yeah I mean't out of focus. I adjusted the eye piece when I first got it and didn't even think of that. Pretty sure that was the problem. Thanks!

Mine unit has not been picking up prisms lately, I emailed to ask about looking into it and they said there is a 6 week turn time on repairs right now. Since I can still scan with it I think I am going to wait till golf season is over in Michigan to send it in.

Mine hardly ever picks up a prism. Surprises me when it beeps! Picks up flagsticks amazingly well though.

Same here, it picked up prisms the first year I had it if I really tried. Then I stopped even trying. Flagsticks are no problem but Prisms are only 2-3 times a round at best. Well now it is never, before it was 2-3 times a round.

Mine is awesome in yards. Metres, it hates. Mine is going back at the request of their CS. Using my backup old Bushnell for now.

Mine has only picked up a few prisms at one course and hasn't since then. Really liked it

By comparison, my buddy's Bushnell V3 with Jolt system works almost flawlessly. After calling customer support, I recently sent my rangefinder back to Leupold for evaluation. In about 10 days, they sent me a brand new upgraded model- the Leupold GX-3i²- free of charge in original shrink-wrapped box and not refurbished. This newer model GX-3i² has improved internal pin-seeking electronics and seems to work overall much better. Kudos to Leupold. Thank you. Great customer service- they back their products for a lifetime! :D

Just shipped my GX3 to them, the LOS and YARDSTICK were not showing up and half of the battery life sign was showing... Hope they take care of it

I'm having issues with my GX3i. The cross hairs are vivid but the numbers are washed out wth parts of the digits missing. Changed batteries, checked modes but to no avail.

I have enjoyed mine, however recently I have only been getting 2 digit distances (the third digit (100s) shows up only intermitently).

 

I thought this was a battery issue, however replacing the battery has not helped.

 

Is this a warranty issue?

Im sure my old GX3 was well over/out of warranty and they still sent me a new item!

Ever since I posted this my Leupold has been working great. Picks up everything I need it to

Here's a little trick with the GX Leupold rangefinders.

 

After hitting the button to power the system, aim the rangefinder reticle a couple of yards to the side of the flag/reflectors, press and hold down the button, and slide the reticle over to the flag/reflectors, and it will usually 'lock' on to the flag/pin with a number.

 

The reason this works is because the first measurement taken to the side of the pin is farther away than the pin. The rangefinder's program algorithms are designed to ignore the farther measurements and take the closest measurement the reticle hits- which is the flag- and lock on to it. So this gives the program a farther distance reference before locking on to the flag/pin.

 

Basically aim just right of the flag/pin, hold down the button, and move the reticle over the flag/pin, and it should lock on a pin distance. In my experience, it might not always beep though- no biggie to me. The program algorithms have been improved in the newer GX-3i².

I believe the issue with locking on prisms might also be related to the type of prism on the stick. I have more success locking on the top of flagstick mounted reflectors than the ones in the stick itself. I think if the reflectors aren't aligned you might not pick it up.

 

i also seem to pick up reflectors better at distance than close. Anyone else experience that?
