There were never any rules set up to my knowledge regarding winning a page. It was something I started about a month after I began to hang out in the Grille on a regular basis. It is all in fun and I guess you can personalize your page in some fashion like DMM did with his surcharge for posting on his page in an effort to help him offset the cost of having the exterior of his 11,000 square foot home in Washington painted. 😅

We have some out of state club pro's staying in the guest rooms upstairs this weekend. They are in town for business and golf. The weather was not suitable to play today in the mountains. At 2:30 I received the call from the GM asking me to give two of them a tour of the course. I told the pros to go layer up and get your phones for photos and meet me out front. I grabbed two golf carts from the cart barn and brought them around. I ducked into the Men's Grille and quickly whipped up three instant hot chocolates. We jumped in the carts. "Follow me boys "was my instruction. Into the blustery air we went. Half way through the tour of the course the big flakes started to fall. It was cool to see. To think that only three days ago I was soaking in the warm 58* sun on the same course while playing. After 20 minutes of seeing the course while listening to me babble on the tour ended. They were impressed with the 101 year old Donald Ross classic course, and they remarked that the contrast in colors out there was neat to see. 

 

My Finnish blood becomes more handy this time of year.

Couple of friends are holidaying right now.  One couple were in Key West.  The other in Bimini in the Bahamas.  Makes a person a bit jealous with all the photos of sunny skies and pristine beaches.  The heat would be welcome about now...

 

On the subject of lie angles, my Ping G's are white dot.  A bit too upright for my taste.  They're supposedly 3° upright.  I'd like to flatten them a couple of degrees, but I'm a bit uncertain as the 6 and 7 iron seem fine as they are.  Maybe they're all over the map too?  I want to send them out to be adjusted in April as I'm going to be away then.

They may also be off for your swing. Everyone sets up differently with different clubs and can swing differently. That is why I stress fitting all clubs to your swing. Exact numbers or progressive lies on paper be dammed.

The instructor couldn’t explain them well at all and became frustrated.

 

Instructor: “Do you know why I’m the one standing here?”

Yup, it's a cell tower. That hill is a half a mile away. Definitely take me a lot of 5 irons to get there. 🤣

... Hahahaha. I was always amazed at the instructors that expected a student to fit their teaching philosophy, not fit their philosophy to the student. Before I started teaching, an old NC pro gave me this bit of wisdom "when yur teecchun, give out infurmayshun by tha teespoon not tha shovul" I enjoyed questions but never liked getting bogged down in the minutia and had a few that did exactly that. Their money and if they wanted to waste it I was ok obliging them. One of the things they don't tell you when you want to start a teaching career. You are going to take peoples money that really don't wanna be helped. "I am fighting a hook with every swing and need you to fix me. But not gonna change my grip with my trail hand completely under the shaft because I tried that with other instructors and it made things worse, so start someplace else". Thank you for the $50 and Here's Your Sign.

... Maybe at Hackers Paradise but this is WRX. And especially if it is a Endo Forged MB. You simply make contact down 1.5 grooves catching the ball 1.5875 millimeters above the asphalt. Granted a players distance iron with a wide sole will be road rashed because you have no control and you will experience a 25yd flier but your Endo MB will be safe.

As many have posted, current clubs being all over the map on specs exposes so much of todays club marketing as hype with no substance. Paying the ridiculous prices for a set of irons and them not being on spec is just wrong.

And in other news they are evidently making Macgregor clubs again. It is all over FB. All I have seen on their website is some horrid looking CBs and Hybrid sets. But they did show some winged MTs and a set of new ones in Ian Woosnams bag. The backs from the limited pics I have seen look like the 51 thru 55 Winged MTs but the soles look more rounded like modern clubs. I am searching for more info

IMHO there is no sound as good as the sound from a vintage Delco wonderbar AM/FM radio. When I was in the wrecker business we bought a C-60 wheel lift wrecker out of Indiana. It had the stock Delco radio in good working order. Since we had a bunch of radios laying around the shop one of the kids wanted to change it out. I told him if he touched that Delco radio I would cut his nads off. For me a Delco radio is like a good set of vintage Macgregors

LOL for me it would be another battle scar on a lead taped battered and rusty Cleveland Wilson or Macgregor wedge. No pretty expensive Endo wedges for me those are my workhorses and I beat them up too bad

Houston we have a problem!  So I was at the range this morning and noticed my grip was shifting on my PW, never had that happen before, then bam head and ball go flying, not sure what went further.  I was hitting the ball really good until this point.  After this my session went downhill, I think this got in my head.  So I went through the entire bag hitting 10 shots, my 7 iron did the same shifting grip thing, but the head stayed on.  So definitely going to see the guy on Monday.

 

I will say this, Heron Creek Golf Club in North Port, FL is an outstanding practice facility. They have a great range, short iron range, 3 chipping greens with bunkers and practice greens.  If I was relocating, for $700 for a practice membership I would be all over this. For a day it was $30, but I feel I got my money’s worth.

If you had a tee time for January 14th in Asheville it is unlikely you will be playing today. As I open up the clubhouse it is 25* with 25 mph wind with snow. Accumulations have been upped to 3 inches. If any of you in the Grille are playing today please hit a few nice one's for LP here in the winter land.

Sixty I looked at the website and did take the flyover tour of the holes. Yes that does look like an excellent course.

My favorite holes were 13,15,16, and 18.

Is that the clubhouse off in the distance behind the 17th green or is that some mega mansion?

 

Looks to be well groomed and well run.  You play there a number of times every season?

I would have expected to see more residue from the epoxy, so you may be correct.
