Back in our days Trucking with Schneider National we would sometimes pick up loads of

empty cans in California and deliver them to the Maxwell House plant in Houston, TX. 

You literally could smell that wonderful smell of coffee when you got within a few miles 

of that plant.

 

I think that plant was later sold to another company.

Actually, that might be a good place for a Grille meet up! For those a little further away, fly 

into Nashville, rent a car and just a short hop up I-65 to the Kentucky border and KP's place. Nice redneck course with nice people.

I must confess. (Isn’t this how all this started?)   We are safely home for a quiet Christmas  after a quick road trip to see Mrs. Scotee’s  94 year old dad in Az. I was hoping to check in with @Soloman1 for another meet up for a range and putting session if not a round. Sadly time and family constraints made that impossible. Hoping for another chance as my daughter and golfer SIL may be moving back to Scottsdale. 

 

I drove 760 miles to Ely Nv (11 hrs.) the first day. Second day was to be a shorter 7 hr. drive but a few miles after rejoining the 93 to Wickenburg we ran into a fatal accident that had closed the road. Along with road construction we sat for over 4 hours moving at 3 or 4 miles per hour a few hundred yards and then stopping completely for 30 to 40 minutes again and again. I don’t know why they did not post a road closed sign when we got off of the 40. We could have easily gone through Flagstaff or Prescott. An inconvenience but nothing compared to those who suffered loss in the accident.

 

 The roads were clear and the desert landscape was beautiful in its own way.  On the way home we did 12 hrs. from Sun City to Twin Falls Id. 770 miles.   Fog next day from Twin Falls back through Council  and then blue sky and sunshine to home. Try that in an EV.

 

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all you fine people.  May the birdies be many and the bogies few and the food and beverages be plenty too.

Nick Saban's tenure as MSU's HC (1995 - 1999) was a complicated one.  But he did have an understanding of the deep seated hatred towards UM before he arrived.  Having been an assistant coach at tOSU ('80 - '81) and MSU ('83 - '87) before he became HC.  He 'got it' from day one, a disdain for the arrogance that is the University of Michigan.  Which has history beyond athletics, back to MSU's creation as an academic institution in 1855.  It's a long story, of little interest to the unaffiliated.  Suffice it to say, becomes part of a Spartan's DNA.  

 

Beyond alumni and bandwagon fans, very few that follow CFB "root" for UM.  Even less now with all their 'alleged' cheating schemes.  That have yet to be fully manifested.  (Don't want to get into all that BS).  Saban don't like Harbaugh, no one in the coaching fraternity likes JH.  

 

UM shouldn't be anywhere close to a Natty game.  They need a thorough and complete whoop'n.  Roll Tide!

We are having a surge here in our quite small town and the same issues arise, traffic is not planned for and the infrastructure is not up to more people with water and sewer being older and for less people. 

As always the Developers somehow BS the clueless town concil in rezoning without proper planning. As always money rules the day..

 

Well back to fun,  the granddaughter is sporting around on her new bike. Such joy is what it is all about

 

No planning whatsoever by the powers that be that is SOP here in Horry County SC. But people are starting to stand up lately and they have cancelled several housing projects

Christmas dinner went off as planned without a hitch other than we ate too much. Got Prime Rib left over. If I can time it right between rain showers I have some Hickory left and may fire up the grille and do Cowboy cut Rib Eyes for lunch or supper. We filled up so much I did not even cut the Pumpkin Pie yet. I had forgotten my wife also did Pecans in the oven drenched with local Honey and Brown Sugar and also made yeast rolls. Yeah for 2 people and one dog we had a feast

Here's another dirty little secret anyone who tends to flight-out low bullets with driver will enjoy.  Many of us tend to literally yank the lead side shoulder straight up toward the sky going into impact.  It tends to be worse with driver.  No bueno. 

 

Often, the golfer tees it up higher which sadly gets him yanking that lead shoulder even more upward way too early. Consistently low impact on the driver face = consistently low trajectory.   

 

Moral of the story.  If you can't seem to flight driver high enough, go watch this video five times then whip out that driver and watch what suddenly happens.  

 

This is some mighty fine sharing right here.  Who among us wouldn't hop onboard with the simplest path to success whilst bypassing all the conceptual jargon?   

 

Many things - such as hit the ball first then take the divot are similarly made more complicated than need be.  

 

Also never have been quite sure how and why so many swing issues seem to get the spotlight ahead of a nice grip and setup.  (And there are fairly easy ways to nail that one down, too).  

 

Braincramp, you've given the Grille dogs a Christmas present.  Well done!

 

 

That’s a really interesting observation and one that describes some of my driver issues perfectly. Finishing position hasn’t been a huge problem and I’m usually decent off the box, but my drives have a lower trajectory than I’d like, so I tend to tee up higher than others. Every now and then, I’ll hit the dreaded pop fly off the box - about 100’ apex with a 150 yard carry and no roll. I’d like to lower my tee height so that I don’t have to worry about the pop ups. And you’re right about setup. Whenever my swing starts going south, it’s often because I’ve gotten lazy with grip and/or setup.

 

Thanks for that info - I’ll start paying particular attention to the lead shoulder with D. And thanks to @braincramp52 for the original post. I’ve subscribed to that YT channel because I like the style of those guys.

I was in Columbus for the OSU - MSU game this November. 105K rabid fans. Huge flag raising in the end zone with a guy attached to the rope dropping down. Military appreciation day. Dotting the “I” in the Ohio band script. Maybe the best college game food I’ve ever had. All of this appreciation coming from a lifelong OU Sooner fan. (I did point out to my hosts the spot in center of the field where Baker Mayfield planted the flag after our 31-16 victory in ‘17). Tacky act, admittedly. Bad Baker!    🤓😀
 

It was huge fun. Oh yeah, Buckeyes won the game.
