This is right on point. I can’t even think about riding a bike anymore 😂 but the sentiment is the same. I’ll choose to do something versus watching someone else do something every time, unless it’s one of my sons competing (which was 4h on Fri eve and 10h yesterday….oof)
 

I do feel safe recommending the NBA though. The game is different, but the level of play is better than it’s ever been, just IMO.

I read they had 6 million.  This is astounding considering 2/3 of the country is either in a deep freeze or very wet, with absolutely nothing else to do. (Well, almost nothing.  Honey?)

They are trying to juice peacock subs. It’s looks like peacock has around 25MM subscribers and growth has not hit targets. 
 

If 6MM watched the game then it’s a significant percentage of peacock subscribers. 
 

I’m sure they knew that not a ton of people would sign up as new subscribers just for this game. 
 

The worst thing is that they don’t care if the most people can watch, they rather have less people watch and pay the subscription fee. I do hope it backfires on them bastids

Here in the Great White North, the Miami-KC game was on the regular TV which I get with an antenna. I have not gone back to satellite TV since returning to my renovated apartment. I stream the two Canadian Sports networks (TSN and Sportsnet) which give me all the major sports leagues and golf for less than $40 per month. I don’t get Golf Channel but who cares. 
 

Other than the majors in golf, I could care less as the product is barely watchable and I find the game slow and boring.

Virtually identical in the TL household. I rarely venture into Netflix any longer. Makes me feel like I’m in an 80s era Blockbuster late on a Friday night and all that’s left are movies I’ve never heard of. But my wife likes it and I think TMobile pays for it. Amazon Prime is also on my isht list. They push too much content that costs extra or requires a subscription to some other service. I joined when free 2-day delivery was a real benefit. Our house had been hit by lightning and I was buying a lot of replacement electronics, so the subscription paid for itself back then. Questioning the value today.

 

We still have an antenna in the attic and I’m thinking of going back to that and trying to eliminate YTTV. Wiring/cable connections might be an issue, though, as it hasn’t been used in almost 30 years. Roku has a decent lineup of Live channels for free, some of which aren’t even included in the YTTV subscription.

Similar story. I tried to cancel the cable part of Comcast but keep the internet.  They transferred me to the subscription department. Then a dial tone. Called back and asked for a supervisor who told me they would give me a rebate. When I told them I could save that much after three months with YouTube TV she transferred me to a higher level “supervisor”.  Another dial tone. 
 

Finally I went down to the local office and after a bit of somewhat heated discussion was able to get rid of cable. Next month I noticed my internet portion had gone up 50%. Back down to the office where I told them I was going to DSL. They said it was a mistake and dropped it back to original. Sheesh!  I’m tempted to bill them my hourly rate.

Saw the final score. A whupping like that should never happen in the playoffs.  I didn’t watch the game but my guess is you saw why Joe Flacco wasn’t in the league any more to start the year. He was a nice story there for a few weeks, but ultimately Parcells is right, you are who you are.

Since I'm not on the road anymore I decided to cancel my Sirius radio. It took me 40 minutes of arguing with them to get it done.  I finally had to get blunt with the dude and tell  him he was wasting my time.

Funny, when I retired I called them to cancel also and the same..............tried offering me a new 

deal, etc., etc. I'm like "what part of you simply can't understand I will no longer be living in a

vehicle?"

 

Then the guy tells me many people listen to Sirius XM radio at home. I'm thinking ya, maybe

a tiny % of their subscribers might but not me.

 

When I retired I was ready to put the whole "life on the road" thing behind me and that

I went to cancel my gym membership and was put in the GM’s office for customer retention attempts.  I told them I was leaving the country and thankfully he didn’t put a hard sell on me. I’ll have to remember that as an easy out for dropping subscriptions.

I think I’ll make an $11.99/mo. subscription streaming service where you can select the POV with sights and sounds of a rider, surfer, golfer, exerciser, skier, hiker, etc. from the comfort of your sofa with an adult beverage and snacks in hand.

Ha! When Covid hit, nyc was all locked down, my gym was by my office, and we were remote. After a few months, I call to cancel and they like

 

you must come in to the gym to cancel, bastids!

 

I was curious to go into the city anyway and they said people were working out with masks! So, I go in and I’m thinkin

 

Who the heck is gonna be lifting with a mask on?!

 

Low and behold, this one “gym friend” of mine,  the most hardcore jacked lifter in the place, is there like doing shrugs with a mask on 🤣

Gyms (along w/plenty of other businesses) got absolutely hammered. Bcs even when it was “safe” to go back, ppl were still so paranoid. Like bscin said, who wants to workout wearing a mask?! I went from working out regularly since HS, to not touching a weight for ~2 years. And I coulda continued as my buddy has a gym he kept open on the DL. It was just a good opportunity to take a long break. Gotta say it was humbling getting back into it though. Weights I use to warm up with were challenging to get 12 reps with! Always eye opening how fast you lose strength, stamina n muscle when you aren’t using it.

Someone said it earlier. The Fins were overrated this year. They looked like world beaters

against weaker opponents but sputtered against the better teams. Maybe next season....

Add in that a lot of people also bought their own equipment. Remember the stock run up for Peloton? We converted my old home office to a gym, adding a treadmill and elliptical. Already had a bench, dumbbells and resistance bands. Probably one of the better investments we’ve made, as we still use everything regularly.

 

And while I’ve probably never approached the tonnage that you’re lifting, I can relate to the loss of strength. I went a couple of years without lifting anything after shoulder surgery. I finally got going again early last year and realized just how much I had lost without knowing it. I’ve been working on some swing changes to get distance back, but can tell that the lifting has also helped.

Oh yeah. You couldn’t find equipment to buy to save ur life! (Guaranteed 98% is currently collecting dust) Ppl actually broke into my buddies gym and stole a bunch of stuff. Cops down in San Jose found it along with a bunch of other stuff in a big storage unit. 
I’ve tried, and just can’t workout at home. I’m the primary financial backer on the place I workout at. So I did technically buy all my equipment as well. I just use it somewhere else  😆
