Gyms (along w/plenty of other businesses) got absolutely hammered. Bcs even when it was “safe” to go back, ppl were still so paranoid. Like bscin said, who wants to workout wearing a mask?! I went from working out regularly since HS, to not touching a weight for ~2 years. And I coulda continued as my buddy has a gym he kept open on the DL. It was just a good opportunity to take a long break. Gotta say it was humbling getting back into it though. Weights I use to warm up with were challenging to get 12 reps with! Always eye opening how fast you lose strength, stamina n muscle when you aren’t using it.

 

And that’s the “rub”, once you stop…you just keep losing and losing, it’s turrible!

 

Everyone needs to come up with programs that are sustainable for them long term. 

 

Covid really got me to create strength workouts heavy enough to keep me in the 8-15 rep range without the gym/weights. Just do 6 sets per workout average. 2 days push (basically weighted vest, one arm assisted, decline, pushups) and 2 days pull (one arm assisted pull-ups)

 

It’s 20 minutes tops, and I actually do it lol, and that’s the key. The strength/mass gains are slow but the progress just keeps coming. 
 

You know…hit the top of the rep range with a certain load..time to add more load…rinse repeat!

 

I perennially miss “leg day” 🤣 as far as lifting, but I do 3 days/week hiit. Each workout got like 200 deep bodyweight squats, tons of mountain climbers and burpees, boxing, so it’s dynamic and my leg/core strength relative to my bodyweight is excellent.

 

But my hat 🎩 off to you, my good man, for being having the discipline and commitment to rock those heavy duty compound lift sessions year after year. Very few people can actually do that long term

going back to his days with Alabama.

Our arctic blast motivated me to pull my ski boots out and get my feet accustomed to them. I’ve only skied on them 1 season. I’d like to have all of the little micro adjustments set before we leave in a couple of weeks. Gotta get comfortable again!

 

 

Park City’s base has more than doubled in the past couple of weeks. I was getting a little worried about it, but looks like another good ski season!

But! If you were in shape, you get back where you were, far faster than someone would get there (if at all) if they were never there. There is definitely a component of ‘muscle memory’ there. Far easier to start early and stay in shape, than get in shape. I truly believe it’s as close to the fountain of youth as we have. 
And yes, pretty much every leg day as I’m loading 45s on I ask myself, why… 😂 But 💯 of the time after I’m done, I’m glad I did! Plenty of times I tell myself, I’ll just go lighter, do more reps… And I always end up at the end of the DB rack. So it’s definitely possible to keep doing it at 50 and beyond, it’s just comes down to a willingness factor. I have been far more aware of incorporating more exercises that incorporate balance/stability. Like the bird dog rows and anti rotational stuff I mentioned a while back.

Those look very high tech! I am so out of it now when it comes to all things skiing. I am

married to a non skier and non golfer. I can get out for golf rounds no problem but ain't

no skiing to be done in this neck of the woods so I will ski vicariously through all you

guys, lol.

Absolutely, what has me “off him” is his decision making under pressure. In the last few games I’ve seen him throw balls right to the defense in huge situations. As I eluded to previously, there aren’t many Mahomes out there so ur forced to stick with ‘above average’.

Interesting about the picks thrown. Tua said in high school and college you look for an open

guy and then throw the ball to him. 

 

He said in the NFL you don't often have time to do that and have to accept throwing the ball

to a place where someone is supposed to be by the time the ball arrives. Some of the picks

happen because receivers aren't where they were supposed to be.

 

He said when he threw a pick at Alabama or took a sack, he knew he was going to get an

a** chewing from Saban.

 

When he throws picks with Miami he gets a much different reaction from McDaniels because

he may have thrown the ball right where he was supposed to and the guy that was supposed

to catch it just wasn't there for some reason.

 

He said it was weird going to the sidelines and apologizing to McDaniels for a pick and

McDaniels saying "no, that was perfect. You did exactly what I wanted you to do".

No doubt. When you watch replays of NFL throws, quite often the ball is released before the receiver even comes out his break (throwing to a spot) But it’s fairly easy to see when a QB panics and makes a poor decision. I’ve seen too many instances of the latter from Tua lately.

Well, I didn't watch last night because Peacock.....but 26-7 tells me things didn't go well

for the Fins offense other than the 53 yd TD pass from Tua to Tyreek that I heard about.

Someone asked me one day if I jogged any more. I said nope, no one has chases me any more.

That was the Fin’s singular highlight and the ball was badly under thrown. Hill made a terrific adjustment while being held to come back for it.
