Well, the bad news is the WM Dumpster Open is coming to town next week. My favorite time of the year. Yeah, right. If it wasn’t just down the street, it would be OK.

 

The good news is that rain showers are forecast every day and temps in the 50’s, instead of the usual 70-ish. It’ll wash some of the beer off the fans.

I know you guys got a lot of rain. One of my old racing buds owns and runs the Go Kart Racetrack at Sugar Tap and they have had to cancel the big race for last weekend and a possibility of a cancellation this weekend.

Edit Had to re do the name of the community because they would not let me post. But you know where I am talking about.

A college age kid next to me was teaching maybe his uncle. He hooded his irons about 30° and hit screaming, 10’ high shots that started left and went left. His stock shot. He used the width of the driving range.

 

The uncle was oohing and ahhing like this was a good thing. The kid then taught him how to hit that shot.

 

I headed to the practice green and they followed a little later. The kid sets up next to the “No Chipping” sign to show him how to chip.

 

Sets up with his feet about 80° open and skulls one across the green. People are dancing out of the way.

 

Sets up and does it again. Unfazed, he shows the uncle how to hit that shot.

 

The kid is striding across the green to pick up his skulled shots. As he passed by me, I couldn’t resist.

 

”Boy, that’s an embarrassing walk, isn’t it?” 🙂

 

Golf in Scottsdale.

Do not fret it is not only in Scottsdale but here as well. It is really crazy up at the Tourist Trap Par3/Driving Range/ Putt Putt course up the road. They have a practice trap right beside the main putting game. I have seen idiots hit from that trap with 20 people on the green. Saw a guy skull one and hit a lady in the head and knocked her cold as a cucumber. An ambulance was called and of course the Surfside Police came too. A bud of mine was the cop who responded. He asked me about it since I was on the patio drinking a beer. I told him it was stupidity on both sides. The guy who was hitting the ball and the lady with her ear planted firmly in a cell phone walking like she was at a garden party right across the putting green. My bud responded well that is that I can not charge people with stupidity do there would be more people in Jail than on the beach. Of course he was a golfer himself and fully understood the stupidity on both sides.

When I worked at a Pontiac dealer in Florida the Charles Chips guy came around every week like clockwork. I would always buy a can of chips and they had a knockout Wine and Cheese dip too. I have not seen one of those trucks in ages or the product. i do not know if they are still in business

Wow, I spent a lot of time at Seal Beach growing up in the 60s. Don't recall any sign of it

ever looking like that pic you posted......but a lot can change in the 30 years from the 30s

to the 60s, I guess.

 

Just below Seal Beach was Anaheim Bay and Bolsa Chica. I wonder if that pic was of

those areas. Just above Seal Beach is Belmont Shore/Long Beach, which were rich oil

drilling areas. 

 

There was oil drilling all over SoCal way BITD so I guess it's possible there were oil

derricks practically on the beach in Seal Beach....but Seal Beach is flat. Those small

bluffs in the pic don't look like Seal Beach to me.

 

Digging deep into the memory banks is a fuzzy endeavor, lol, so......oh well. It was

long ago..............................................doesn't matter a lick now.

Hell Aen, the Mesa was piece of cake! I used to have a Ampeg V4B Tuber amp with a Cerwin Vega reversed 18" speaker. Heavy as hell! Then I played in one band where I had 8 x 10's and 2x 15's along with a 300 Watt Fender tube amp on top. That was dumb!🤣
