Yeah, different layers of different materials in different thicknesses are pre-impregnated with epoxy, then wrapped on the mandril. The skill of the person doing it is important.

Then it’s cured in a vacuum chamber to eliminate voids and set the epoxy.

Graphite Design opened a factory in CA years ago for the US market, but had to shut it down after a year. The attention to detail and quality was so bad that they had to throw away too many in final QC checks. And they spent a lot on training people.

We see it every day. People who do everything half-assed. It probably extends to their love life.

”Ehh, that’s good enough.” 🙂

Thanks I knew you could explain it---- Yes I hate people half arsing things. I can remember when my bud got some those crappy Graphite Design shafts. He had ordered like 10 of one "batch" and the numbers on the frequency machine were all over the place. In fact he thought his machine had went whacky. We took them over to our other friend's shop and the numbers checked the same. We did glue one up in a Wishon driver and the dispersion was all over the place no matter who hit that club. He called his Rep with a WTF??? The Rep said send them back. He never would use a Graphite Design shaft after that in fact that also turned me against them. Now thanks to you I know the whole story

Lots of Titleist driver fans here at WRX. Maybe go into the equipment section and look for

a thread(s) on this driver? Can see what others' experiences have been with the driver

and shaft combo you have. Just a thought.

TS4 is a very low-spin driver head. As we lose speed we need spin to keep the ball in the air. JAT🤔

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

It is indeed a washout, but I took 4 shag balls to the range and hit the new Driver. Feels good as expected not life changing, but at this point it is about the fun anyway.

Ball flight was a bit low on the 1st two so lofted up and seemed to hit the mid high window and straight as can be, the funny part was they were 4 entirely different balls one old pv1, a callaway CS x LS, one noodle, one super soft and all went to my eye the same distance more or less.

Normally I pick a ball for the short game benefits (more spin, softer feel off the SLED) not distance as the distance is what it is with my slow SS.

Enjoyed over time the dishes shared in this and the other forum but not from the perspective that I will partake or again partake in most of them, rather as a reminder of the enjoyment I once had in consuming them (while they were silently consuming me). Been there and would prefer to stay there but I have a greater taste for staying here a bit longer. There are courses I have yet to defile.

Went on the Ornish diet some time ago but had to come off of it for I was about to weigh in negative numbers. Cannot wear a wide-brimmed hat given I am unsure of my ability to control my flight once lifted into the air. I am now basically on a mashup of Ornish and the Mediterranean diet. Maybe three times a year, max, I will have red meat, otherwise fish, chicken, turkey, and egg whites along with whole grains, fresh fruits, nuts, and vegetables. Splurge for a serving of dessert three times a month, except for January when there is no dessert. Dairy is very rare apart from dessert; no butter on toast and the such. Key is controlling salt, sugar, and saturated fat. Getting all three can be challenging, doing so reacquaints one with a smaller portion of a grocery store and usually a higher grocery bill.

Cholesterol and triglycerides are excellent but it is work. Can't undo the damage of the bully but I am more credible now in staring back at it. Diet prior to current diet was not bad but, say, genes and too much importance placed on work. Got some good genes and some bad genes but being good cannot overpower the baduns but hopefully give 'em a good run for a closer second. Loved to work but now as I look back, work seldom loved me as much.

Breakfast: egg-white frittata with onion, red bell pepper, mushroom, tomato, and spinach; mixed fresh fruit; oatmeal with cinnamon and raisins.

Lunch: nuts, fruit, Ensure.

Supper: 3 days chicken, 2 days fish, 1 day whole-grain pasta, 1 day all vegs. With meats: fruit, vegs, and whole grain.

Water.

Not exciting, down right boring most of the time, but keeps me tickin' - breathin' well is not overrated. But when the doc says, "well, you know, there is this now" I'm gonna add pizza and donuts every now and then but pin my home number to my shirt when I walk the course alone.

Best advice I ever received concerning health was from Ashley Montagu when he said to stay as young as you can for as long as you can (die young as late as possible). Knowing of it and learning from it can unfortunately be a goodly time apart. I learned a bit late but later is sometimes better than never.

I don't give a s%$!, a pink g*% d&%$ about how well you golf, but I care that you have good health for there are too many golf courses needing attention that I can't provide alone.

Great stuff OC

That’s a fantastic diet/menu there. For all the binge meals I post, mine is very similar to yours 25+ days a month.

I'll do the joke tomorrow.

Until then, let's have some cool sciencey stuff.

Where did the gold in your wedding ring or watch come from? Sure, you learned from the ground, but that's not where it came from. And It's been calculated that there isn't near enough pressure in the earth to make gold or platinum. It was delivered here as the planet formed.

One is from the collision of two neutron stars that scattered it across space. Neutrons stars come from collapsed massive stars, not puny ones like our sun. They are massive beasts because all of their protons and electrons have been squished under enormous pressure into neutrons.

One teaspoon of a neutron star has a mass of about 2 billion tons. That's equivalent to about 2 million, fully-loaded supertankers.

The other source is from black holes. Binary neutron stars can merge to a black hole. A black hole ejects gold and platinum and many other things at near light speed perpendicular like this:

image.png.ab85d9c791a342907754cbb606c712d3.png

All these heavy and light elements and other stuff eventually form other stars, galaxies, planets, moons and asteroids.

So the next time you look at your wedding ring, you're looking at something delivered here from supernovas, neutron star collisions and black holes and some from asteroids. Perhaps most of it from the black hole in the center of our galaxy.

The universe is in your hand.

Bullsh!t.

The ship has sailed here on long bomb drives.  But not to the extent clubhead speed has totally tanked.  A little over 6'2", and fairly lean.  Not a gym rat but for reasons I don't care to share online suffice it to say I maintain a very active lifestyle. The swing is shorter than twenty years ago.  Muscle mass isn't what it once was.  I totally accept all that without lamenting the past.   Here's why.

I put in the work.  What to crave and what to avoid.  Studied swings - as in the hours invested to get a freak'n degree.  What constitutes a one-bucket wonder and what is lasting.  Feel system, mechanics, if-thens, on-the-course - on the range.  Managing tension.  Alone and in front of instructors.

Many can out-play me.  Few will outwork me.

I'd match wits with swing gurus all day and all night as to HOW we can make a motion that's efficient, doesn't tax the body, is in fact tension-free, and provides plenty of snap through that ball at any age.  Best part is, it tends to go where you're looking - at least "reasonably so".

Yes, my physical make-up clearly supports what I do.  But I've shared it enough with friends, family. and others who wanted that brand of golf.  If a person wants it, I can work with someone who is built totally backwards from me, and it isn't long before they can whip me like a drum out there.  Suffered a monster lower back problem 30 years ago thanks to that stupid X-factor crapola and I'm still here.

None of that sharing is a commercial to get you guys to talk swings with me more.  That's another ship that's sailed and there's no lamenting that one either.

This was a very long way of saying thank you for ideas as to flighting my driver.  What I sacrificed with the constant focus on the Indian, was enough knowledge about the arrow.

I appreciate you guys.

Heart attack egg sandwich goes like this.  Buttered toast.  Then dukes mayo on one side.  Then sharp cheddar cheese on the other. Cover the cheese in scrambled eggs hot out of the pan. Place bacon on the mayo.  Smash together.    Cut diagonally. Eat.  Use fork to catch the egg that falls out. 🤣. Really really good. Probably horrible for you.

For serious hangover back in the day, I’d order French toast with bacon and eggs from the diner and make sangwich and pour syrup over it! Wash it down with a big Gatorade

I don’t think you got enough applause for this one ! 🤣.   Double entendres is often overlooked.  All i can think about is every bad ww2 movie ever made. And all the modern dubbing over comedy that has been done from the scenes of the “Fuhrer “ in movies. Some of those skits dubbed over his outbursts are amazingly funny.  But can’t be posted here.

Last one.

Where Joni Mitchell meets Chet Atkins.  Also, the convergence of seeing things not just from my selfish perspective but being a listener and a learner.  Hoping as I continue getting older and crustier, I never stop learning life's lessons.  I can stand to lose some swing speed and not rant about swings.  Don't think I could stand to stop learning.

Basic,

I'm trampling all over you and I'm sorry.  Got to head out in a min and wanted to fly a couple of old Reason's selfish nonsense out before signing off for the day.

I confess.  I got carried away last evening and wasn't exactly proud of myself this morning when I saw my blatant dive-bomb at overweight people.  Stu is right.  I was wrong.  This is a very public place.  Who among us knows, has close friends, or family that may have made bad choices about their own health, or maybe are predisposed to weight issues and literally can't do much about it short of drastic medical/psychological interventions?

I can be wrong.  I fall on my own sword at times.

I've never done that.🙄
