This was all on top of the trouble I had several months ago with the home office in Columbia SC regarding my court ordered medical account. I guess they are like everyone else have trouble finding help worth 2 hoots these days. The manager knowing all the crap I went through was apologetic and told me If I had problems I knew where she or the assistant branch manager was at and to call if I ever had any problems

Quoted wrong post right person. Here’s that truck. 64f100 body on a 2003 svt lightning chassis.  I took two running rust free trucks and killed them. Put the old body on the new chassis. ( wasn’t as easy as I’m saying ). 

 

very long story.  Short version is.  Owner and I contracted to build at a rate that was somewhat discounted in exchange for me being able to use it for that next summers show circuit.  And surprise. As it was nearly finished. He grew impatient and broke the deal. I finished it anyway out of love for my work.  We had words.  And he took it. I was paid. At least.  Haven’t seen it in person since.  But. I have since forgiven the customer.  He called me.  His dad had just died.  And he was feeling guilty.  And he apologized. And I did too. Because  I was behind schedule by a week.  But there were reasons for that. All which he knew. 
 

anyway. After it left me. It was to go to the trim shop for a suede seat headliner and carpeting.  I had done the dash and door panels.  While it was there in Greenville area.  He took it to Tommy pikes  shop for a dyno  session.  I believe. And while there is when I had people calling me saying that he was really showing it off and letting people believe it was their work.  One phone call , and I had that squashed.  I happened to be in a place in life where I had a $275 an hour lawyer running the meter almost daily and  a few more hours wouldn’t have made me blink. So all is good.  
 

that truck won the f100 nationals twice.    And I must say. It’s brought me more work than anything else. And the only thing I’ve built that I wish I owned long term.    When we had it dynoed it made 677 to the rear wheels. But wouldn’t hook up on the dyno. We had to pile  sand bags on the bed to keep it connected. Even then we had tire spin. Running nitto  555R rear tires.    It is a 5.4l with a Steigmeyer supercharger , and pulleys to make 18lb boost.  Bassani stainless exhaust in 3 inch. It’s just nasty from idle to 5k rpm.  
 

truck body itself has loads of mods you won’t notice at a glance.  Front and rear bumpers cut , sectioned , welded up and rechromed.  Front grille is chromed inside and out.  Side trim is too. Drip rails removed from cab. (huge  amount of work ).  Bed floor is custom wood. ( no fleetside cabs had wood ).  And is raised to accommodate the modern frame that steps up in the back. This means each cross member is progressively thinner to follow the frame and mount the bed level. Notice the wood floor disappears into the bed. No edges exposed. And on and on.  Not good pics. But I don’t have any on this phone.  I built this when I was 29-30 years old. Sorry for the poor screen shots. I really need to dig up and publish better ones.  I have hours of photos from this build.

That's awesome blade. My oldest brother who is 89,  has my other brother's 62 F100 and did a full body off restoration on it about 10 years ago. He just did the same to this 61 Starliner. He finished that when he was 87.

That’s a 68 gt350 Shelby.  It’s apart In the shop now. That was 3 owners ago.  🤣. Those cars trade hands like stocks. It’s wired with suspension, brakes etc in. No engine yet.

I would expect a investment company to want to make money and I like the fact they're investing in fossil fuels. It's their investments in ESG's and sleeping with the WEF that I don't like. But, I'll get off my soapbox before I get banned or lose friends.

Love a 61 starliner. Fun fact. My wife dad’s to inherit one of the best survivors possible. 61 starliner. Black. White roof. 390 4 speed 3x2 Holley carbs.  And it stil  has the ford bubble wrap on the seats. Her dad’s father bought it new.  And drove it 19k miles before he died. Been in her dad’s garage since 1974.  I can’t talk him into getting it out

Yep. I don’t know the numbers. But I’m sure.  It’s gold valve covers and breather.  Right now it has 30 years worth of newspapers on the hood and a roll of carpet on one side and a boat blocking the other.  But she’s a time capsule.  I wish he’d let me clean it up and get it roadworthy.  If you bring it up , he will change the subject.

Man. That was a stupid.  🤣. I don’t see any oil deflectors on the rocker arms.  So it should have been spraying oil out onto the headers. So I’d take a stab  and say , they didn’t put oil in it. Or… the pickup wasn’t touching oil in a deep pan , or  the oil pump drive shaft wasn’t in the pump.   Other way. About that long is what I’d expect on assembly lube 🥲

Even with no pressure I figured it would run a while longer than that under no load. But yeah….unwise to the point of hard to believe there!

Pretty sure everyone who's messed with cars has done something stupid at least once. Mine was when I was in the service stationed in Abilene Tx. I had a 57 Chevy with a 283 punched to a 292. I had a dual quad Weiand tunnel ram with two 600 Holley's on it. I used to take it out to a crappy little drag strip every weekend and do some handicap bracket racing. When I'd get there I'd open the headers and I bumped up the primary jet size in both carbs. Then I'd time it using a vacuum gauge. One Monday after a weekend of racing I was leaving base and when I got to the security shack a buddy who was a security cop told me to let it eat! I did and at about 6500 rpms in 2nd gear it sounded like about 5 shotguns went off under the hood. Come to find out that when I got done racing Sunday I put the street jets back in the carbs, closed the headers and moved the timing back but I didn't tighten the distributor clamp tight. I only snugged it up. When I gave it hell leaving base the distributor popped up at over 6 grand and tore all the teeth off the cam and distributor. My buddy at the guard shack never let me live it down.😂

@braincramp52 isn’t that the truth. I have many, but two come to mind right away. 
 

In HS, a really nice older lady lived around the corner from me. She had an Eldorado with the 500. Didn’t drive much, and she was complaining about the car “running all warm.” My buddy and I wanted to help her out. We took the car around the block in the neighborhood and it got hot all right. Back to the house, we figured “how hot can it get in a couple blocks?” so we popped the radiator cap right off to investigate. OUCH! Lemme tell you with a completely plugged radiator a 500 gets real damn hot real damn quick!
 

I had a succession of Mercedes 240D and 300D cars where you had to adjust the valves about once a year. I had a little switch that I’d tap to bump the motor over a little bit as I went from valve to valve…found it easier than using a ratchet on the crank boss or the PS pump. Well, one 240D was a manual trans and I forgot. Car was pulled into the garage, I bumped the motor over and she jumped forward and pinned me against the garage wall. Not hard enough to get hurt but tight enough where I couldn’t get out and had to yell for help.

They sure do! My buddy ripped the cap right off and the coolant exploded in a boiling shower. Lots of cussing, almost a fight, then we realized we both got scalded but not seriously hurt, and it was time to go get a new radiator for Ms. Dayo. That was one sweet looking and running Cadillac. 
 

Another one — those 300D Mercedes take almost 12 quarts of 15-40 Rotella. I had one of those drain pans that you can close up and take the used oil to recycle. Opened the drain plug and 12 quarts of HOT black oil starts racing out…..I come out from under the car, go get the new filter….turn back to the car and it’s like the Exxon Valdez oil spill up here.  Something blocked the hole into that oil container and man was that an epic mess!
