I think it has, at least in our little pocket of the world.  Parts of MT are the poorest areas of the country (even worse than San Francisco) in regards to housing rates v income rates, and Kevin Costner and remote work only made it worse.  The average income for the area is $63,000 and the average home price is $585,000, if you do the math a buyer has to have an income of $150,000+ to qualify.  Of course, as home prices go up, rents go up so we see a couple of things.

 

Homelessness has spiked because many can't afford housing anymore (even though they are working), and those who do have housing are much more likely to visit our food bank.  In 2024, the number of users of our local food bank nearly doubled.  Our homeless shelter?  Amazingly, over 60% of their clients who eat there have employment.

 

With our industry being almost entirely service based I don't see anything improving without something dramatically changing.

 

On the other hand, those with the means are seeing their disposable income increase considerably.  In 2007, when my folks moved out here my dad drove a Benz.  When he replaced it he bought a Subaru because, "It's a little gross when its one of 5 on the road."  In 2025, you can't swing a dead cat and not hit an AMG or BMW, etc.  Interesting times for sure.

There was a while there when my wife would take the kids to the east coast for an extended period to see the grandparents.  Usually 2-3 weeks which meant I was left to my own devices, and I hate supermarkets.  Too crowded, to many folks leave their carts in the middle of aisles and then walk away, etc.  I hate it.  Anyhoo, I also worked late and I would head to Walmart after my shift around 2AM on a weeknight.

 

It was invariably myself, the stockers, and six families with toddlers running around the store.  Weirdest thing I have ever seen.  Shouldn't they be in bed, or did their parents wake them up and say, "Hey, lets go to Walmart!"

 

Also, they did a test at Walmart and 97% (maybe 100 I can't remember) of their carts tested positive for traces of meth, so bring your sanitizer.

I don't think so.  It's different everywhere, and that is what a forum is, people in different places seeing different things.  No one is right or wrong, just different and each area of the country has different things happening.

 

I blame Costner for our problems.  I was in Philly after the pandemic and everyone, and I mean everyone, asked me, "How far are you from the Dutton Ranch?  I want to live there."  In fact, I know the name of the ranch and I have never seen an episode.

Sure it’s just a coincidence then that it started right after my post… I’m taking responsibility. Great convo, wrong place. As history here substantiates where it will eventually lead.

Where's @aenemated when you need him to drop some picture of some meat from the dry cleaners, or wherever he went?  I will say, on his recommendation I took the wife to a place called Oscars in Vegas and it was pretty danged good.  Since my wife and I both view food as a rental product we don't tend to go high end on that type of thing.

I'll just put this here. My other hobby is 1930-1945 European history research.  

My dad entered Buchenwald with a medical team on the day after it was liberated. The towns people were being given a "tour" of the facility and he and heard them say "We never knew". I believe they were telling the truth.  History is being echoed. IMO. 

 

OTOH, I had 5 pars and no doubles for my best 9 of the season. And I left a few  out there. 😃

He’s like a cat in dogs clothing. Follows me around, loves attention. He has a litter box but seldom uses it (only if it’s raining). And never scratches any of the furniture. 
He’s a rescue and a dream cat. I was very fortunate to find him.

Probably why the owner didn't take it to the dealer.😃  Itmamuses me that I bought my very fist vehicle from the RR dealer. 1965 Honda 50 Sport. It as a real chick magnet.
