I'm always amazed at golfers ability to "forget" what they know and works for them on their golf swing.

During yesterdays round I got paired with a friend I havn't golfed with in several months. While we are both part of the same group with 30+ guys in the group the chances of playing with the same guys regurgly is slim.

Now he's not a golf swsing junkie, very much a "this is my swing and it works aka Stu" kind of player. But about me half way round, he turns to me and asks "Why are you aiming so far to the right, is it because your gripoing it differently?". I was caught of guard, A - by the fact I was aiming right and B - he thought I was gripping it differently and C - beacuse he had even noticed it.

I dismissed it as problemy a subconcious move to counteract my recent pull miss but then got thinking. While my grip looks the same to me when loking down I eventually realised that somewhere along the past few months the club had slipped from more in my palm to much more within my fingers.

Stunned at how my grip had changed so dramatically without me noticing I preceed to try and figure out where it was, when I got it back in a position in my hand more inline with what I was taught it felt so different.

Golf can be such a frustrating sport.

Following on from my previous post it's amazing the things you miss happening.

When I played my best I had a noticable callous on my left hand at the base of my ring ringer where my wedding ring would press against the flesh of my palm that was trapped between ring and club. This was a result of having the club more in the palm of my left hand.

Now a days I don't have that callous at all. While I don't hit anywhere near as many balls as back then, that part of my hand is pretty smooth.

I've been spending the day sitting at my desk working and holding reguarly picking the club and gripping it the "new/used to" way to refamilirise myself with it before going to the range tonight. Already I can feel a little tingle in the old callous spot from squeezing that part of the grip.

I went two places and couldn't help myself. I had to tell the guy who revived a 17 year old dead thread to get a life. Then I went to the Ping I230 thread and had my post removed by the mods after just asking a simple question.😇

LOL the hyprocracy of Wrx Mods  Some people can get by with posting anything and some can not. Would like to know the question though

I acutally enjoy going back and rereading some of the old threads that I enjoyede back in the day.

Some were stupid but some had some intersting discussions. Whether you agreed with them or not they were intersting to read and follow. Sadly like many threads on WRX the trolls, keyboards warriors and swing cultists get involved and destroy the discussion.

And you know there were some hilarious members back in the day Thrillhouse comes to mind here. Mtl Jeff is a good one too and still around. He wrote my favorite article How to build an Intimidating bag of clubs. LOL in the comments then I could not really post what I wanted to play at the time because I was under contract with Championship Golf and playing Infiniti brand clubs. Anywhere on social media these days the keyboard warriors get involved. One of the reasons even on FB I stick to my golf trucking and racing groups. In fact earlier this morning I deleted one trucking group because you could not have a meaningful discussion without some keyboard warrior messing stuff up. That on FB in general has helped kill a lot of good groups and it has killed a couple of good golf sites too

I have also noticed the seemingly small creeping that can take place that, for me, can

result in my swing going awry.

Somewhere along the way I read that the better players, like yourself, will go back to

basics to find the problem, i.e., check grip, stance, ball position and so on. It's not easy

though to spot the small changes that can creep into those things.

I remember reading Bobby Jones and he mentioned how one day he was having a

difficult time and was on the range trying to figure it out and was not having success.

Then someone watching him who knew his game mentioned to him how his ball

position looked different and made a suggestion that ended up fixing his problem.

Even the all time greats can struggle with this and sometimes another set of eyes

helps makes a big difference.

Unfortunately, for many of us, we are left to try and figure things out on our own

and it may take some time to figure it out. A good thing though, for me anyway, is

that when I do figure something out, I conduct a mini celebration in order to firmly

imprint the cause and the cure into my memory, hoping to, at least, not have to go

down that particular road again.

One thing I was always told was to take video of my swing when playing well. That way when things go wrong I can compare video of the bad to the good and maybe spot the problem. If I can, I can take the video to my pro and he can spot the difference and give me the fix.

Agreed and sadly the annominimity of the internet means anyone can ay anything with no repercusions.

I remember before the internet if someone was telling me how to swing and what should and shouldn't happen I simply asked, "show me". Since it was all face to face there was no way around it and if you couldn't back up your claim you didn't make it.

Look at that handsome happy guy with that  "life is good" smile!

EDIT ADD: I'm so glad that many are having this nice unseasonably warm weather and enjoying it.

I am enjoying it too. Fixing to go about noon or so and do my practice or what ever thing. Now we still have that mess brewing in the Atlantic and no one is sure yet what is going on there. We are supposed to have wind and rain the latter part of the week but then again we may get a tropical storm. They do have a 9 & dine scheduled for Wednesday and I am waiting to see how many will be in it. They basically threw it together at the last minute because the one  week before last was cancelled due to rain. I know my regular running partner and his wife will not be there. He and several members play in the American Legion golf league and have an event that day and he can not make the 2:30 tee time. Some of our Mens League members have some kind of thing at MB National and can not make the tee time either. I guess he is hoping some of the Snowbirds will sign up. As with anything he has to have a certain amount of players to make a profit. This is the latest I can recall them ever scheduling a 9 & Dine. I will see ho hum as SOP for us just roll with the flow

Wouldn't we now. The back of our golf cart would exhude handsomeness.

Tell that snow to be brief and move on along quickly as you have some golf to play.

Maybe a photo of the white stuff for the Grille?

It was coming down all morning long.  But only sticking to rooftops, lawns and car tops, not the street.  Sun just broke through and poof (!)... all gone.

I discovered these last month. Just delicious and nothing like the too salty bleached white variety that I used to enjoy as a kid.

Every other Halloween I will take the seeds from the pumpkin I carved and clean them and then bake them up. It's a lot of work so I only do it every other year. If you are a fan of snacking on pumpkin seeds I recommend you give them a try.

Anyone else remember these red packages?
