One of the too many overpriced wine shops in my hood

I smoke a cigar on occasion, usually celebratory moments. And the descriptors are leather, dark chocolate, pepper, wild berries, etc. To me it just smells and tastes like a stinky cigar.

The best part is that wine experts, when blind tested, have difficulty distinguishing between a good $30 bottle and a 200 or $1000 bottle. It turns out the wines label vastly changes their expectations and how they rate it. Given them the same exact wine in a cheap bottle/label and they will say it’s terrible 

 

Imagine how the general public fares? 🤣

 

All good though, great food and wine is at least 1/2 the experience you enjoy ; )

Total Wine & More - the Costco of alcohol.

 

They have great service. You can call to check stock and they’ll hold it at the service counter.

 

I think they’re a good company! And their menu is in English. No translation app needed.

This was questionable parenting, as I’ve told my kids. 🤓

 

She made me stay at home if I drank it. No going out. No driving (I guess that was her ploy, but believe me we made up for that later. For a smart group of kids we were beyond stupid. Esp if girls were around). 
 

Anyway, I drank the entire bottle in my room while playing Iron Butterfly. In a Gadda DaVida, for you less fortunate uneducated young guys snd gals here.   Mom said, you weren’t supposed to drink the whole bottle!  I said, what else was I supposed to do with it, it tasted so bad I might throw up if I had to face it again. 
 

Later that spring I met my eventual high school girlfriend for a date. She wanted Boones Farm Strawberry Hill..

When I was in my shop late at night building an engine I played Iron Butterfly In a Gadda Da Vida WFO blasting via an 8 track. Yes I said 8 track and this was in the 90s. If people including my wife heard me they stayed clear

Speaking of which, "Cigar Aficionado"  announces its #1 Cigar of the Year this Thursday.  Within an hour I'll be ordering it from a little cigar shop in Miami.  One drop shipped to my friend Larry in LA, one drop shipped to my golf buddy Ron here in town and a few sent to me.  I've been doing this for about 10 years, it's a fun ritual / tradition.

I guess you wine experts will know what I am talking about here. In SC some wine is sold in convivence stores and grocery stores. I think it is below a certain Alcohol Percentage and what they call unfortified (what ever that is) Over a certain percentage and I guess fortified it is sold in Red Dot Liquor stores beside of my old friends Jack and Jim

Most of the cigars I smoke are the Acid brand--- I also smoke a cheaper line made by that same company. I have sorta laid off of them for now. Some of the guys in the league like them and some detest them. I want to be they guy that everyone wants to play with and get along with so I quit for a while. A couple of the guys could give a rat's behind if one likes it or not they smoke them anyhow. One of my buds who is hilarious and a NY Italian is in like 3 cigar clubs and smokes all kinds. He will always give me some kind out of his stash when we play together. He likes having me for a partner and tells the other guys he gives me a cigar so I will ride with him

Cigars are to be gauged based on the taste in your mouth the following day. You have the sandy loam, silt, peat, red clay, black clay, chalk, and the rare find - gravel.

Sometimes the #1 cigar is moderately priced. Sometimes it's exorbitantly priced. You never know until it's announced.  Tell ya what, I'll trade you a cigar for a new putter. 😁

I read and it has been a while back and do not remember where this happened. They caught some guy taking good expensive empty bottles and filling them with cheap stuff and selling them for $$$ but cheaper than usual I presume. LOL he got caught when his wife snitched on him because he was fooling around with a younger girl. He went to jail and the courts determined most of the stuff was a product of illegal activities and took them. LOL the wife had to give up her Mercedes her furs and the house.
