Sorry I've been away from the grill, see we're talking putter grips and clothing, two things I have way to many of. I think I've tried almost every superstroke there is but I don't think they have ever lasted over a week consecutively. Always use some kind of pingman variation. Right now I got the old black corded titleist one, it's gone a hair cold lately so I may be due for a switch, I got an orange studio style and a blackout pingman in my car so probably one of those. I'm just weird, I need a slightly different feel and all 3 of those give me that ever so slightly, just know now not to stray too far.

Very dapper SSP. You prove to be a sartorial inspiration for my apparel section today. Basic black. Neat, no pleats. Let me check that......yeah, no pleats.

Jeez Louise, this discussion is drifting towards what I read glance at in the Golf Style forum. We need to return to discussing more important Grille topics like food and booze. And swing things.

How'd you hit'em? Win any cash?

Except as provided in the Rules, during a stipulated round the player must not use any artificial device or unusual equipment, or use any equipment in an abnormal manner:

a. That might assist him in making a stroke or in his play; or

b. For the purpose of gauging or measuring distance or conditions that might affect his play; or

c. That might assist him in gripping the club, except that:

(i) gloves may be worn provided that they are plain gloves;

(ii) resin, powder and drying or moisturizing agents may be used; and

(iii) a towel or handkerchief may be wrapped around the grip.

Grip dilemma solved! Just fashion a towel into any shape you want to form your own personally customized grip size and shape.

Think of it. Golf towel, meet origami.

The Counter weight is interesting. It makes the putter feel more like a lighter stick when you're handling it, but it strokes like a heavy. It's almost like it's built for the timid. It's easy to get carried away and run things by the hole, but when you're dialed-in with it I think you're more likely to actually get the ball to the hole. Drives me crazy to leave it in the gut a rotation or two short.

I just tried a counterweighted putter and to me it makes the head feel like it is almost not there. I no likey.

In other news, I've been ho'ing...

Bon chance, et jouez bien!

I still bag my Anser 4 from the mid 90s..

I don't understand why they call this a 'blade' putter (along with all the Anser-style putters), when there is ample perimeter weighting. The W/S 8802 style and the Acushnet bullseye are the only real blade putters I know of.

Here's my putter, and it's not a blade...Anser 5...........woohoo no watermark :) ...Et maintenant, nous allons jouer au golf

Bon chance, it jouez bien!

Je voudrais pouvoir jouer maintenant, mais je dois être au travail... (de la connerie)

Dammit! I wish you didn't give the answer, cause I got it right! I got up to conversational French in college, where you could not use English during class, and the teacher was a hot young French woman. She actually invited us to her apartment a couple times for an authentic French dinner (pas d'Anglais, bien sûr)

Yes, you got it right.

Wolf is MIA? Hope his golf game or something really positive accounts for his absence.

Still pondering grip "stuff". Would love the "over-size" to be in the width dimension. That flat spot running down the front (12 o'clock) is something I personally would not love giving up. Experiments will occur in time with a reasonable facsimile of the current stick.

Reasy, besides the Super Stroke GT this is the other putter grip I've been seriously thinking about. Quite a few options, I think they have oversized with the flat top AND it's light weight so you won't lose the feel of the clubhead (too much)

http://www.lamkingri...utter-grips.php

TYVM sir!

Will definitely move that grip up high on the list - despite the fact their ad included this pic:

In Judge Reason land they actually have it backward when it comes to the putting grip,- lol

I agree, my hands barely touch when I'm putting. It greatly reduces wrist action.

Same here, I like the shaft, grip, and forearms to all match up in a straight line. What I really like about that particular grip are all the markings to help make placing the hands on the club more consistent. The colors are whacky, but I kinda like it LOL

That's an interesting looking grip.

Reminds me a bit of the perfect putting grip, which has images on so you place yours hands in the same place every time.

Three dumb questions - cause I happen to be the perfect guy for them...

1 On really fast greens - a lighter putter makes it is easier to manage distance control than a heavier one? Which would make the reverse true - where on moderate to slower greens the heavier putter would be a little easier to control distance. Yes? NO? Maybe?

(How light is too light and how heavy is too heavy is in the eye of the beholder....so just in general does the static weight of a putter factor into normal green speed?)

2. Forgetting static weight of the putter completely for the moment... distances in putting are controlled by managing the length of the stroke at the same basic tempo? - OR - It's better to forget the length of the stroke and tempo stuff and just focus on either hitting it hard (or not so hard if need be). Is it one, the other, a little bit of both?

3. Does the term "exclusive furniture" mean only certain people can sit on it?

Kinda what I thought when I looked at the Perfect website. At first glance, thought it was a grip. On the second trip, realized it was a "stick on". What if I install it crooked? That could really screw things up. I'm sometimes all thumbs, so which thumb placement should I use? Good thing it comes with instructions.

Probably why they give you two. Sorta like trying to install a screen saver on a smartphone. Always screw the first one up. Have to pay attention when you're down to your last chance.

But as always, YMMV.

I have not idea how heavy my putter is. It's a circa 96 Anser 4. Anyone know? I'm glad I never caught the putter ho bug. I have used the anser and a mint vintage 8802, and a bullseye before that since forever.

Just curious, what's the opinions here on the bullseye?

Hauled grain last week and will again today Conrad. How do I explain to my wife I get to buy a new golf club for being in the frequent trucker club? :-)

You guys done with winter wheat already?! Or you moving last year's harvest? We don't produce on the level that the Midwest does, so I'm sure the cycles of the business are different - we have 3-4 weeks of heightened activity during the year, first the corn, then beans, and wheat at the end of June. When I hear somebody was hauling grain, I tend to associate it as being right around the harvest. It's 95% semis now, but it was kind of neat to see when the old grain trucks (over-grown box trucks w/stake sides) got dusted off for their annual workload, lol. At the same time, they always worried me - some would be about 30 years old (with <10,000 mi, lol) - who knows what the mice had chewed through since it was used last fall.

Hauling last year's crop CD. Prices finally turned around enough to start emptying the bins! Corn today. Depending on the year we can store 1/2 our corn and a few beans on the farm, so we take a lot to terminals Dec-Feb and then again late May and June. When I was a kid in the 80's and 90's you still saw alfalfa, wheat, even some oats but these days in my area of central IL it's pretty much all corn and beans.

And man I know what you mean about those old straight trucks. Since we got the semi we stopped using ours but we finally got rid of it a couple years ago. Took an intimate knowledge of its quirks to get it started every September. And of course punching the dash a few times to get all the gauges and lights working lol!!

LOL sounds like that old 2003 Mack I just got out of. I was the only one who could work it. You had to move a relay and 2 jumper wires to get the headlights to work and be sure to disconnect after cutting it off for the day or the lights would stay on. Also going down the road you could hit a bump and loose everything in the dash and have to take your fist and hit the dash two times. Other than that it ran strong and drove good. It still is tagged and insured but it is now the yard truck for our North Yard. I am now in a 2014 Mack that is a Cadillac do not have to mess with anything. Only thing that was aggervating was the fact you have to put that DEF stuff in it and we had to get it out of the 55 gallon drum and put in a gallon jug and pour it in. They finally got us a electric pump and nozzle. That thing also regenerates (what ever that is) The first time it done that I was outside doing something at 04;00 in the morning and thought I had a massive air leak. I checked the air pressure was up and the regen light was on> Screw it I thought I went up the road no problem found out that is what it is supposed to do.

Been in it for about 6 weeks now putting miles on it and getting used to it. Read the book on it and figured out how to set the Jake brake to kick by using the adjustment. Different ball game from the 03. I had the rack set tight on the 03 (did it myself) and that Jake would really kick and bellow with the dual exhaust stacks. This new truck you can not hear the Jake kick but it does work

3. Does the term "exclusive furniture" mean only certain people can sit on it?

1. For me, having a putter I'm comfortable with will allow me to putt well no matter the speed of the greens. For some, a lighter putter would help on faster greens maybe, but I'm a believer in playing what I've been practicing with, and keeping it as consistent as possible. If you have a putter you have confidence with you can putt on well regardless of conditions.

2. For controlling length it's controlling length of stroke, tempo basically stays the same. One of the major no no's I avoid at all costs in my stroke is hard acceleration to start the forward stroke. So adjusting the length of stroke with consistent tempo keeps me away from that.

3. Yes?? LOL I have no clue :D

BTW Thug I have no idea how much a 1996 Ping Anser 4 weighs, I'd guess low 300's high 200's, fairly light no??

Yeah it feels pretty light in the hands. The 8802 was more head heavy.

I have and used an Anser 2 for the longest time, the head on that is considerably lighter than all of the modern offerings. I would say your Anser 4 is like 305-320 grams.

STU, do you happen to know how much an older Anser 4 head weighs??

BTW Fella, in my quick little search for the head weight of the Anser 4 I found the head weight for your new 85029 (no circle "R's") , 331 grams..it's supposed to be one of the heavier anser putters form back then. Nice pick up BTW!!

nor do we give a $hit when anyone plays the age card, everyone (potentially) will be old someday... good luck kiddos...

I have been trying to play that age card thing and it ain't working---- After losing weight and making some swing changes the Mafia will not let me on the senior tees any more especially since I hit 2 iron 5 wood on a par 5 the other week. I promised them in 14 months or so I will be cracking 60 and I plan on being in better shape than I am now and hitting it just as far as not further. I still have another 40 lbs to loose plus getting my umbilical hernia fixed!
