No. Scenic Rd is not part of the 17mi drive. But it’s an eaisly accessible road that’s very popular as it follows along the ocean.

Celebrity endorsements.  😒  I'll buy a sandwich from Subway when I see a video of Peyton Manning actually going inside a Subway, ordering a sandwich, and eating for the camera.  Call me skeptical, but I doubt he would actually eat one when he can afford his own personal chef.

Right there w/ya, but it definitely works. I have a friend that works in marketing (currently for Nutrafol which is a natural hair growth supplement). I asked her if these celebrity endorsements really had an impact on sales when everyone knows they are being highly compensated to be told what to say. She responded with an emphatic “absolutely”. They don’t work on us Huskyd, as we are above average intelligence 😉

Most celebrity endorsements are lost on me because I don't know who most of these

people are these days.

 

I see all these Nissan commercials with this woman driving cars like she's a pro driver

or something. I had no idea who she was or cared who she was.

 

One day I saw a nice negative headline about Disney in my news feed and since I like

negative Disney news I clicked on it. It was all about the failure of recent Marvel movies

I have a nephew that was a child actor back in the 80s. He spent several years working

for Disney during that time. They were very strict with kids back then; very strict. You

didn't toe their line you were out. Kinda drove him nuts but did him good in the long run.

 

My sister had a very watchful eye when he was on set on other projects but she didn't

have a worry when he was working for Disney. That was a long time ago now and no

doubt things have changed.

No doubt.  They wouldn't do it if it didn't.  Your favorite pro athlete or actor/actress will imprint a product in your mind far longer than some schlub off the street telling you to buy something.  Even if you're not interested at first, sometime down the line if you decide you'd like or need or would like to try the product one day, you'll think of it.

Advertising changed dramatically about 60 years ago. It used to describe the value, features, durability that appealed to logic and reason until they figured out that most people aren’t logical and have little reasoning ability. They buy from emotional responses.

 

Instead of having a logical reason to buy insurance from Brand X, people decide based on whether they like emus, or geckos, a woman with a ray gun or a jingle.

 

They realized it’s easier to train people than dogs, and they’ll bite shiny things that wouldn’t fool a fish.

The waves actually spray the windows when the seas are big. Kinda has a special place in my heart as I see it regularly on our trips down to Carmel. Very cool, I love the ocean and there’s spectacular beachfront/homes here as well.

 

But I always thought it’s the houses on the “hills”, and the hills and valleys of SoCal that are really cool. In both books and tv/film, off the top of my head like the one on Bosch or, not sure if you’ve seen the Lincoln Lawyer

Hey, we have houses on hills in Pittsburgh too. 😂 In fact mine is on a hill! No views like that though. Even if there was a view like that it’d be socked in by clouds.

I been to Pittsburg twice. Most recently, not the city but we went to a wedding and the brides family lived in the mountains outside the city (not sure how far, but they rabid Steeler fans)

 

Guy had an awesome property, 5 acres or so, in his family few generations, cleared area with house and big barn type building for little tractor, atv, tools, big forrest behind the houses with a stream and path up into it. Guy loved it but said it was getting to be a ton of work to keep up.

I dream of having a gentleman’s spread like that. I want to raise bees and have some dogs and live the life of the country squire, but that is not realistic. There’s no way my body would really allow me to keep up such a property as the years go by, so the gentleman’s estate would end up being worked by the lady, and I know for a fact the lady does not want that!

Thanks!  I only put players on that list I've seen up close.  Couple of them I caddied in the same group, either a pro-am or for another pro in sectional qualifying.  Lyle was the most astounding control of ball-striking / trajectory I've ever seen in person.  I was caddying in a US Open sectional and we were paired with Lyle, I was nervous as hell but his caddie was really cool, put me at ease and got me to relax.  Lyle was great too, he opened up a bit after it became clear that none of the three players in the group were going to qualify.

 

Woosnam, Price, and Vijay I only saw very close at the range.  Nick Price was one of my guys in the 90s.  I saved up and bought a brand new Grace Fat Lady Swings putter after Nick got hot with it and won several times.  I still have that putter -- it's beat up pretty good but I should have someone who knows what they are doing get a couple of the uglies out of it and heck maybe I'll put it in play again.

 

Anyhow this is not about Price's putting, but his ball striking.  I don't know how someone could say his swing was "too fast."  That is just totally absurd.  Watch him strike the ball then tell me your way is the way and he has it all wrong, then show me your claret jug.
