Big Wheels were way past my time as a kid.

Our mode of transportation was a bike.....or a home made skateboard.

We road our 10 speeds *13 miles each way to the beach and back, on a busy boulevard.

No one ever got hurt. No helmets, no riding "outfits". We wore our swim shorts, a t-shirt,

tennis shoes and brought our beach towels. There were no bike lanes yet either.

Amazing when I look back on it now. A different time and world.

Please tell me it was uphill both ways!

Have any of you had a Sumo orange 🍊? Man they are delicious!

IMG_5561.jpeg
*should add I had never heard of ‘em until a guy at the gym Monday asked if I had ever had one. Said I’d never even heard of em. Bought 2 the next day and damn, I’m sold. I typically just buy the Cuties.

About 100-150 ft total elevation change between home and the beach. Downhill going

and uphill coming back. The SoCal basin where we lived is a very flat place for the

most part. It was a pretty straight shot from Artesia down to Seal Beach. We rode down

Norwalk Blvd. which changed to Los Alamitos Blvd. at the Orange County line and then

to Seal Beach Blvd. when you got into Seal Beach city limits.

There, I took it down from the 30,000 ft view to a more granular street level view, lol.

It was NOT uphill both ways and no snow or ice was involved....ever.😃 Oh, and stop

lights were still very far apart back then. Maybe 10-15 stoplights all the way down.

Seeing it’s gonna be 71° in Santa Clara Sunday. That combined w/Deebo playing and no home crowd for the Lions makes me officially say I’m picking the 9ers to win.

LOL, like you weren't going to pick the 9ers, officially or not. BTW, what would picking them

unofficially look like!?😀

The gang and I used to ride bikes everywhere, couple towns over etc. Or we walked, a lot. Only time in front of tv was when it was dark out.

Those are delicious! So sweet and juicy. Never had the Sumo.

I love havin a bag of cuties on hand as it’s a great way to kill a craving for ice cream or some other empty calories.

Up until this week I hadn’t either. Just Googled and found ⬇️

Those Sumos look thick skinned like a Navel orange which should mean they are

much easier to peel than a Cutie.

I just thought back to my first time in Florida in '75 and buying some of the vaunted Florida

oranges. Ya, they taste great but are a PITA to peel, lol. I think they are mostly used for juice.

Funny Conrad. As it was someone peeling a FL orange and saying that was ridiculously difficult to peel and tasted bad, that was the catalyst for the cutie/sumo coming up.

I missed that post, lol. Was it here or somewhere else?

It was here. I didn’t mention the PITA FL orange. Just that someone at the gym asked me if I had tried the Sumos. After you mentioned it it reminded me. Someone had sent a member a box of FL oranges and he donated them to the gym. After peeling one and trying it, the person made the comment, I see why he didn’t want em! 😂

According to Vivid Seats as of yesterday, sales to Lions fans stood at 22% of total attendance.  Up from 18% the day before.  Won't be the home stadium, but not exactly a "no home crowd" environment either.   The "D" will be representing in Santa Clara.

Lol sure. But compare that to what they experience in D. That was my main point. 😁 Their home crowd advantage was fierce the last couple weeks. It’s been fun to watch. Def a dif dynamic this week for ‘em.

*edited original post to say “no home field advantage” for Lions.
