I am exactly the same way. As SOP my whole life I have always left with plenty of time to get where I am going. Pulling Heavy haul you can not go by a set schedule because different states and jurisdictions had different curfews. I remember that was a big problem when Schneider bought International Transport. All the old people with IT in Rochester Minn. quit when they made the move to the bay. There you had a bunch of freight people dealing with customers and trying to dispatch freight. I got tired of dealing with those idiots about 2 years in and pulled my lease.

And yes like you I have a squeaky clean driving record. Of course I only ride around maybe a 5 mile area or so. Sometimes I do not understand my fellow retirees. They have nothing to do and all day to do it in yet they rush like motorized Lemmings to do nothing. Some of them act like they are going to get the last lottery ticket printed or cup of coffee made in the world. Most of the guys at my club in the league are exactly like me. On the 7:30 tee time they are there between 6:30 6:45 ready to go. Yeah I do not rush or get anxious I sit back and laugh

Nice but it is Bassackwards---- Oh my apologizes I forgot you were a lefty. But it is still left handed-- If I ran up on a deal with one that nice I might trade and learn to putt left handed. The way things have been lately putting wise I might do just as well left handed. The kid who plays with us in the Shootouts some is a lefty but putts righty and is a darn good putter and overall player.  Since I played 4 days straight this week after a 3 week layoff and have had no pain or stiffness in the back I may go back to conventual putting and I drug my old rusty Santa Fe out last night.

I am also going to do another experiment next week and see how it works out. I have been having distance control problems with the irons in my signature. I am really hitting the ball solid. I decided next week or at least Tuesday play. I am keeping all the woods in my signature since I am deadly with the 7 and 9 woods. I am adding a little 29* Cobra Hybrid I got a while back and carrying only my 7 thru 11 old Mac FC-4000s. I have been carrying the old 11 iron for a gap wedge anyhow and am deadly with it. I have been loosing strokes around the greens from 120 in. Lot of the problem is I have lost all feel with the graphite CBs. I had been playing the old blades on the Par3 anyhow with success and no pain. Right now I am hitting the driver so good and have missed only 2 fairways in 72 holes this week with it. Where my problem has been besides putting is the 135 range in. I am either blowing it over the green or hitting it short. I may play Monday and see what happens as far as pain and score wise. I have finally I think learned to discipline myself not to hit at it hard and hurt myself.

Golf Canada has been interested enough to offer us the opportunity to have a separate hickory handicap. To the best of our knowledge we are the only country that offers this.

If I were up there I would darn sure tee it up with you guys. I can not get anyone here to play blades and persimmon much less Hickory. Like I said in the last post I am leaning (as long as the back holds up) going back semi modern with my blade irons and conventional putting.

Most of the toys I have seen on here I have played with at one time or the other. The kid whose Dad actually owned the course I grew up at had all that stuff since his Dad was a multi millionaire. I never got into board games myself. Most of my play stuff was model cars and model airplanes. I always had a mechanical aptitude and took old stuff apart. I had an old carburetor off a Dodge truck I took apart and put back together several times along with a mechanical distributor. Now to be honest I never found out if they worked or not. Had a bunch of stuff at Grannie's to take apart in the old converted woodshed. I guess I had a different childhood than most but I was basically happy. One year I ended up with 2 Etch a Sketch things. One from a great aunt and the other from church. Of course I was curious as to how it worked. Could not get it apart with tools so I took a concrete block and busted one wide open. Got what I found out was carbon black all over me and my clothes. Step Mom raised holy hell and took the other one. LOL some 25 years later when the course was closing and I was helping my bud clean out the place I found where she had hidden it behind the furnace in the storage room of the club house. My bud (the millionaire's kid) was like WTH? I explained it to him. I think we left it there

I can remember this kid that was in my grade died from huffing glue the summer between the 7th and 8th grades. I really did not know him that well. He had been missing about a month which we knew nothing about. They found him by accident several months later sitting leaned on a tree behind Metrolina Speedway a tube of glue and a paper bag by his side. 

I need to clarify that I never did "huff" the stuff intentionally, just built a lot of models.  There was not much else to do in the little town I grew up in, that is until I bought my 1st Hodaka dirt bike in a box and that started the motorcycle phase that lasted into adulthood.

I'm the tee time booker for our group.  Since I'm up usually by 4:30am, I get the 1PM tee time every day while drinking the first cuppa.  (Flex club member that can't get on course before then)  We arrive about 11:45-noon and get out on the putting green and driving range to loosen up the old joints and joke around.  As the tee time approaches, we watch the first tee and if no one is going out, we mosey over and head off a bit early.  All are walkers and we move right along.  Life is good and so's the fun.

Show up on the first tee just in time, carry bag on my shoulder, untied golf shoes clicking through the parking lot, Dunkin’ Donuts styrofoam coffee cup, raspberry jelly still on my face, no time to put on a glove, grab a new Titleist ball and the Cleveland Classic persimmon, one lazy practice swing, then bust it.

 

Now, it’s all Ibuprofen, creaking noises and grunting trying to tee up a ball.

A blast from the past @aenemated!  I bought an Apple IIc in the early to mid 80’s and then quickly went with the Mac SE when they came out. Cute little bugger. 

I think it came with 1 MB RAM and couldn’t imagine needing more. Sure you had to do the floppy disc exchange to install and even use applications, but it was a h*ll of a lot better than punch cards with Cobol or Fortran. Or Basic, invented by a guy at college, later the president. Programs got bigger and hungrier and I kept chasing the memory needs. Still am. 
 

We use PC’s at work but I’m back on my Mac or Apple iPad at home. Can’t imagine changing.

Wow DT.  Mighty nice woodworking skills and shop.  Especially like the drift/dory boat.  Do you use it for fishing?  It's a type that is used for fishing the wider rivers here, during the spring and fall steelhead runs.  Beautiful.  Verging on "to nice to muck up" category.

Thanks, I should be ready to walk the course by April. Started swinging the club for the first time this past week. Four of us play in the simulator at the clubhouse once a week.

I’m looking into this too but will slow my roll until March. There are two clubs that fit our needs here and will join one this spring.

 

One seems to allow carrying, push carts are prohibited at all times. This course I am not sure I can realistically walk 18 anyhow. 
 

The other allows carrying except from 8A - 1P weekends and 9A - 1P weekdays.  No carrying allowed during club events.  Pull carts are allowed when carrying is allowed. The document I have is silent on push carts. All is not lost, as the club seems to have these ClubCar Tempo Walk autonomous follow carts, in which case I will gladly use that.
 

So…..buying my own follow cart would be really unwise until I figure out how this season is going to look.

It comes from offsets from a guy out of Flagstaff, originally from Jerry Briggs and Keith Steele in Oregon, where they were used on the McKenzie River.  It is (theoretically) water tight for big water western multi day trips, Green and Colo Rivers in Utah, Salmon in Idaho, and Grand Canyon.  I’ve submerged it several times in big waves and so far so good, but hope to never test it with a flip!  I do fish, but out of a friend’s low sided Clackacraft. My boats would not be good for that.

That is awesome! Would love to hear more about your history in woodworking…..did you have a mentor / parent you learned from, figure it out on your own, etc.?

 

Not intending to get too personal, but color me impressed! I’ll stick to assembling clubs (that one is for @BIG STU) and tinkering around with small home projects. 🙂

The entire USAF command and control for ICBM’s and aircraft for nuclear war operations only stopped using 8” floppy disks four years ago.

 

They only stopped because no one would make them anymore.

 

I wonder if they upgraded to 5-1/4” floppies?
