on the road out that way. I think it was called Rochelle Ranch. You could see most of the holes

from the Interstate. It was a fun course to play. Lots of ups and downs and lots of wind.🙂

Was chatting with a lady today. She was telling me how she recently signed up for ‘Amazon One’. It’s a new way to pay using your palm. Rolling out at some Whole Foods markets in my area. I had never heard of it. Found this video online.

Ho ho ho, any presumption of privacy went entirely away with the Equifax hack. 

 

If I cared enough to put in the largely minimal effort, I could get every bit of info on every single one of yall to the point of finding your great great grandmother.

You remember the Murray brand cookies? They may have been a Southern thing I do not know. They basically did the same thing. My first Fire Chief had a van and did a route for them. He had regular stops and also had a few Mom and Pop owned country stores made a good living. Those molasses cookies were to die for. Another brand I have not heard of for quite a few moons

Back in 1979 my then almost girlfriend's dad was a retired State Trooper and at the time a special investigator for the defense department, when I went to pick her up he sat me down and we had a nice talk. 

He asked my name, the name of the Com. Fishing boat I worked on (in Florida and he was in Rhode Island) and a few other questions seemingly just making conversation, well when I came by the next weekend to pick her up for date #2 he dropped a file in front of me with detailed information about myself, my family and even the boat on worked on and their family. It was incredible to me he got all that in a week by I would guess mostly the old fashioned way of paper trails.

I was relieved we all passed muster and I was allowed to go on the second date, now 45 years later we are still together and I still think of him every now and then. He was not a real big man, but had a presence that you could not ignore and "yes sir, no sir" automatically came out in response to questions.

Well said and I know of the incident you speak of. Yeah we had a few PMs on that subject. In fact I took a hiatus from there for a period of time. I am back there somewhat when I find interest in a subject. Yeah I am one of the old timers on this thread that came here from the old Confessions thread. I will not get into the reasons this split off but I was there. @Conrad1953 and @Reasonability reached out to me via PM and invited me here. I was still working then some 60 hours a week so I was not as active.

Yep me too---- My Great Uncle owned and operated a Sinclair station in the 60s in Greenville NC. I know when I was trucking out West especially in Wyoming Sinclair was still prevalent. @Conrad1953  will remember the Sinclair truck stop at Little America Wyoming

Thanks that was the other one I was thinking of. Yes I also played that course some. Had a long layover on a permit load one holiday weekend. Played that course 3 days straight with the 8 club antique set I carried on the truck. And yes it was windy but fun

I have not changed mine ever since I have been here. I do not know how the guy who set mine up for me is long gone. Lots of ancient history there. At the time I was still playing the local minis and was on a deal for Infiniti golf. LOL the 'Mini Bulldog" Dodge Dakota is gone probably now part of someone's new Tesla. I may change one day just have not thought about it

And according to my buddies in eastern Wyoming, “the 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 windiest golf course in the world”!

 

I think that course only has about a four or five month season. It’s so windy they completely cover the greens pretty early in the fall.

Im good with mine for a while too. Not sure where I would go next. Someone in Tour Talk (maybe @TiScape?) suggested my blank avatar page wasn’t cutting it and gave me the idea.

Well Miami I learned something, and have never heard of him either. I guess my education is incomplete.  At first I thought how could I be a life long country fan and not know. But the next song, with a great voice, is not country. Almost like Elvis but better.

My FiL had a somewhat similar approach but the variance in the delivery as such,

 

We had just started dating but got serious pretty quickly and I was invited to Sunday dinner, antipasto, sauce, espresso, was about 10 close friends and family there 

 

So, we are out back, was a nice summer night, and I’m talking to him, just shooting the breeze. He’s taking about whatever and it turns into a theoretical regarding family safety, and without addressing me in particular, he says,

 

But if it’s a threat to my family, that’s when the contract goes out

The backstory of the Grille would be a long read.  In short summary a good handful of us found each other over time in Wrx.  So we looked for one another in various threads.  We in fact, started threads thanks primarily to Radro.  There was a good measure of success in those days doing so.   But... 

 

Most all threads suffer issues over time.  For one, posters sometimes end up turning on each other when that infamous "smartest man in the room" syndrome kicks-in.  Another problem arises when those involved keep tempting the mods.   Trying to tackle both problems - long term - is a tall order.  

 

Past efforts to avoid run-ins with the Mods weren't confined to politics or religion.  You name it - language, R-rated vids/pics, all of it came into the mix.  We watched many of our buds incinerate.  We also ended up getting booted from Gen Golf Talk to the 19th hole.  

 

The Grille works so long as we don't beat the crap out of each other, the mods are good, and we welcome newcomers.

   

As to one person (OP or otherwise) driving the bus all by himself....  Wouldn't that be the same "smartest-man-in-the-room" issue that sooner or later kills any thread?    People are not cattle.  Mods are not here to hand-out likes. 

BTW I wasn't kidding about me, myself, and I needing the same reminder.  Can't throw the first stone.

And for those not in the know that is truly the name of the community no joke. The software on here will not let me spell the name like it is really spelled. Yeah Blade the guy who owns it and promotes it is an old racing bud and we stay in touch on FB some. LOL he and his brother have banged fenders a few nights with me in the old 4 cylinder wars at Cherokee Speedway. But all in fun and clean racing never any anamosity between us.

I'm pretty sure you can't make the higher octane gas unless some dinosaur remains are in the crude oil.

Yep it is fun and from reading your comments in other sections when I went there you were a welcomed addition to our little world. Me personally I do not try to dictate what anyone posts or make judgements good or bad. If it is something I have no knowledge on (football or golf instruction) I do not get offended I just scroll on. Hope I do not offend and if someone is bored by what I post or has no interest then by all means scroll on it will not offend me

I can tell you this on gas. I do not know what all goes into Octane rating on street car gas. Now I can tell you on racing gas that about 1/4 of a gallon there is gasoline as we know it. The rest is different chemicals. Now days racing gas has different chemicals and markers. The reason is certain promoters and associations want you to buy gas only at their tracks or associations. They also do the same thing on racing tires as in buying a certain spec tire from them. What fuel that is legal at one track on Friday night my be illegal at another track on Saturday night. Same with tires. They also test tires now for certain compounds and illegal ( in their eyes) added traction enhancing chemicals. And we think golf has rules. Glad I am out of racing now. Gone are the days of a true "Outlaw" track where you could run any tire or fuel you could buy or mix up. And yes I will admit I was one of the noted fuel mixers
