Basic,

I'm trampling all over you and I'm sorry.  Got to head out in a min and wanted to fly a couple of old Reason's selfish nonsense out before signing off for the day.

I confess.  I got carried away last evening and wasn't exactly proud of myself this morning when I saw my blatant dive-bomb at overweight people.  Stu is right.  I was wrong.  This is a very public place.  Who among us knows, has close friends, or family that may have made bad choices about their own health, or maybe are predisposed to weight issues and literally can't do much about it short of drastic medical/psychological interventions?

I can be wrong.  I fall on my own sword at times.

Cheers reas 🍻 I don’t think you directed any such posts at my comments.

But I agree 100%, I never poke fun at people who are overweight and just stay away from this mocking behavior of anyone.

Except pro athletes! 🤣 they got stupid money couldn’t care what I say. And even then I stay away from anything that I think would genuinely hurt Simek’s feelings. Thats the opposite of how I try to treat people

I generally subscribe to the Gatsby approach of interacting with other people

“He had one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life. It faced, or seemed to face, the whole external world for an instant and then concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your favor.

It understood you just as far as you wanted to be understood, believed in you as you would like to believe in yourself”

Not all people in that shape are fat and lazy---- A lady from my church is like that because of Thyroid disease-- I was in Kroger the other week and she was there. I heard a Mother chide her kid saying that is what happens when you get fat and lazy. I chided her in front of the kid and told her to put her brain in gear before engaging her mouth that I knew the lady and she had serious medical problems and was not using it by choice. Now I will admit some are just ought right fat and lazy. I blame part of that on the Medical profession. When I was hurt and recovering they stressed for me to walk as much as I could but still gave me a temporary Handicapped placard. I never used it parking or otherwise. I knew I needed to walk and besides there were others in worse shape than I was. I never make judgement of folks using those because one never knows

No doubt a small % have underlying issues. It’s not all lazy and eating 7,500+ calories daily of mostly items that would make a paper bag transparent. If one is staying active and eating mostly healthy and still hanging over both sides of their Rascal, no doubt there could be some underlying medical issues going on there.

*as always, consult your medical professionals

WOW Reason, I musta missed a bunch of ur posts bcs I don’t recall seeing anything near offensive enough to warrant that post. But obv you have your reasons. I take everything in here with a BIG grain of salt. Real life is serious, this place feels to me mostly like a SNL skit.

I'll do the joke tomorrow.

Until then, let's have some cool sciencey stuff.

Where did the gold in your wedding ring or watch come from? Sure, you learned from the ground, but that's not where it came from. And It's been calculated that there isn't near enough pressure in the earth to make gold or platinum. It was delivered here as the planet formed.

One is from the collision of two neutron stars that scattered it across space. Neutrons stars come from collapsed massive stars, not puny ones like our sun. They are massive beasts because all of their protons and electrons have been squished under enormous pressure into neutrons.

One teaspoon of a neutron star has a mass of about 2 billion tons. That's equivalent to about 2 million, fully-loaded supertankers.

The other source is from black holes. Binary neutron stars can merge to a black hole. A black hole ejects gold and platinum and many other things at near light speed perpendicular like this:

image.png.ab85d9c791a342907754cbb606c712d3.png

All these heavy and light elements and other stuff eventually form other stars, galaxies, planets, moons and asteroids.

So the next time you look at your wedding ring, you're looking at something delivered here from supernovas, neutron star collisions and black holes and some from asteroids. Perhaps most of it from the black hole in the center of our galaxy.

The universe is in your hand.

Struggling with the concept that the source of the material of the ring on my left 4th finger is a black hole.

Figures.

Song composed by Joni Mitchell.  Covered by CSN&Y on the Deja Vu album.

I’m a big Joni fan. Not always loved by all, but IMO the best female (and possibly any sex) lyricist. Most know about Blue and Court & Spark, but, if you haven’t, give the Hejira and the live Miles of Aisles albums a study.

Doc, you’re chemistry studies must have far exceeded my HS level lol, but the premise @Soloman1 shared is understandable

The very first elements Helium, Hydrogen served as the building  blocks that, subjected the incomprehensible heat and violent, forces after the Big Bang, underwent processes that created stars that then collapsed, collided, and created the solid elements Carbon, Iron etc and blasted them across the universe

The earths core is 700 mile diameter liquid ball of iron and nickel that condensed  from gas resulting from the “explosions” of post big bang activity and, combined, cooled, and formed earth with all the other elements in our world

And it’s not just gold that’s derived from this. The iron in the blood that runs in our veins also is billions of years old and came from across the cosmos. And somehow life evolved and integrated it into such a key function of our survival

It’s why so many scientists can reconcile the science and religion of a “grand design”. Hard to imagine all this happened without a “blueprint”

Sol, please correct any of my erroneous comments there lol, I tried my best to regurgitate my understanding but may have made some mistakes; )

When it comes to science stuff you can tell me about anything and I'll believe it. I know less than nothing. Now, if you want to talk 60's muscle cars I'm in big time!😁

🤯 No doubt you need to reference your source of this ‘cut n paste’ here bscin. I’m gonna take a couple THC gummies and come back to contemplate the iron coursing thru my veins  being billions of years old and deriving from the cosmos… 🤯

*hopefully they can get some golf ️ in today in Pebble Beach.

Oh wow, the 428CJ Mach 1 over a Boss9 or GT350 or GT500. I like that.
For me it’s a 70 Hemi Cuda (yeah technically not 60s) or 69 COPO or Yenko Camaro. Love me that 427 Chevy!

I liked the GT's but I think roll bars in a street car is dumb. Just a thing with me. A guitar player in our band had a Yenko. Evidently he got a lemon because he couldn't beat another buddies 69 Mach in the quarter. He was not a happy camper. A guy I worked with had a 55 Chevy with a L88 427 in it. That was a nasty fast car.

L88 🤤

Everything is better with an egg and hot sauce on top. I keep telling you guys to smear it on your driver.

You know what, I bet I could put something in a bottle or spray can and say it’ll get you 10 more yards, and golfers would buy it.

How about a dab of mayo on turnip greens ?  Or in pinto beans.  I’ll be honest. If I can’t have mayo in my beans. I don’t want to live. 🤣.    I’d choose pinto beans , cornbread and mayo as my last meal on earth.  No lie.

🤣.  No worries.  I knew the answer , more fun of asking than anything.  A little bit goes A long way. I’m not talking drenched in mayo.  Not like people who put ketchup in beans do it.
