I'll bloviate on one more aspect of golf talk. Lot of chatter on mechanics of swing in I&A but one of least talked about and most consequential is tempo & rhythm of it. The players I've marvelled a round with have established R&T that never waivers. Guys like me, it fluctuates, my best rounds always came when I locked in early and stayed with it. You can be a stuck flipper or OTT basher but if the pace is dialed in right it can still lead you to shooting scores over your pay grade.

 

So true. I play with two guys that come to mind.  One hits off of his back foot and backs up on every shot. He has grooved that move and hits hard and straight and scores way better than his swing. The other is smooth and loose with max wrist c0ck and elbow bend and has a fair amount of early extension with a high hands finish and lots of club shaft rotation around impact. He plays to 5 or better. Both of them have consistent but different tempo.

I actually owned a couple of sets, really a full bag for a while. The new ones look much better than the older ones, I think I had gen 4, it was the most complete fitting I ever had. A retired pro did it and he was very honest and put me in the best stuff for my game at the time.

Sadly I could not stand the screws, had the P then the T model, they are lacking in the shaft selection for stock builds and get pretty pricey when you change from stock.

And I get that. There is no in between with PXG, you either love the looks or hate the looks.

Ha, you are just playing a club hoing, it does not make any sense but at the height of the insanity I had 6 in one year. Scores never changed much, my excuse was I was hunting the right shaft. Then I learned to do my own club work and got fairly happy, of course PX then stopped making the Catalyst shafts for some reason. 

Which now has me vexed, the PX io seem to work just fine but the pain is real even with the stupid foam inserts.

 

Steelfibers swing weight awful, MMT just feels wrong and recoils never seem to work. Pondering the new Dart if I can find a place to hit it in the 105 gr. 

Went down the JDM rabbit hole and tried the MCI and MCI black, now that was an expensive journey. Clubs are fun, it has just gotten out of hand with the cost involved.

what weight? do they seem to play too flex? reading the Dart thred some say it plays stiffer than stated, others not.

Same old problem it is different for everyone and the their swing. I tend to have the OTT wood chopping type move, occassionally I will actual make a proper inside move if the back is not hurting too much and mash the ball. Unfortunately then the natural draw comes in and I miss left, if i play for it and come OTT I miss right. Aim at the flag and come up short....stupid game.

I’m 44 marrried 23 years coming up on 24. .  It’s always relative. But I can say , age doesn’t matter much. Duration does the same either way 🤣.

I have 65 gram Darts in F2 or senior shafts. And you're right, I've had some regular flex graphite's that were softer than these so I think you're right on about playing stiffer than flex.

My driver shaft is ~60 grams lighter than my iron shafts. Is ur driver shaft by any chance 5 grams?!

It'll be 40 years for me in a bit.  I'm still trying to figure out what's going on.  Hunt is over for me also.  I'd have to hunt awful hard to find anything worth hunting.   I don't even want to talk about sex.  I wasn't bringing anything to write home about BITD, but it was adequate.  Now it's like pfffft, okay, take it easy.  And I'm not gonna do the blue pills.
