Man, I grew up on those Hawks teams with Dominique, Kevin Willis and, most importantly, Jon Koncak.

Don’t sleep on Tree Rollins and Antoine Carr and Cliff Levingston. That was a good front court….and that era is the reason I hate the Celtics.

Best frontline ever in 86. Bird, McHale, Parrish, and a healthy Walton off the bench. Walton was such a good passer out of the post.

You may have picked up I’m a bigger Dead fan than NBA fan. Walton….my man….RIP. 😪

You take that back Pete!😂

And why would anyone watch a series on the Lakers!?😄

Bird was just a ferocious competitor. Winning was what mattered to him. He was brutally honest, with himself, his teammates, and his opponents. He didn’t soft soap anything. Pretty blunt and spoke his mind.

And a world class trash talker.

Neither is MJ. 😉

They both had the total psychosis about losing. They HAD to win. Bird destroyed his body, MJ destroyed his teammates.

They were so good. Knicks and Pistons games were stupid good. I hated Rodman until he came to the bulls. 😁

Bad Boys Piston's and Riley's Knick's were my favorites. The Bull's were great, never respected & despised a team more. MJ in my eyes is the greatest competitor of all sports, never seen a guy hate losing more. My son is all about King James and i'm like, ''you just don't know kid, you had to watch it''.

I never despised the Bulls. Sometimes I rooted for them (vs Utah), some against (vs Phoenix), but these years later I am grateful to have gotten to witness that level of excellence.

There are so many basketball greats I love and I’ve gotten to see play, but there is only one 23.

My favorite players of all time as mentioned above are ‘Nique and Magic….but having gotten to see MJ, LeBron, Kareem (not in his prime but still occasionally dominant), Kobe, Shaq, Bird, Barkley, Malone, Zeke, Hakeem, Duncan, Steph, AI, I mean are you kidding me?

Yeah, the talent pool has been deep and today's is fantastic. NBA has been my favorite big time sport for decades, this time of year, pay more attention to hoops than the majors for sure. Honest have love/hate for PGAT, the talent is deeper, they are all better, but somehow they made it all more vanilla. MLB might be a bit that way for me too, but eh, no biggie. Have NBA, NFL, it's enough. Going to watch WC soccer this time around, give that a go.

My golf viewing is minimal. The Masters and the British by a wide margin over the US and the PGA, but I’ll tune in when there is an exciting finish — like Bryson / Rory at Pinehurst. But this year’s PGA….no interest. With golf I’ll have it on while I’m doing something else, but it’s rare that I’m focused on watching.

I’m a Clemson alumnus so I like to watch Clemson football, but that’s it, no other games interest me. No interest in college basketball (weird since I love the NBA so much), NFL, baseball, or hockey.

Soccer is great, I’ll watch Premier League, Champions League, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, World Cup, you name it. NBA is the best, and today’s NBA talent level is mind blowing.

The only things I will DVR / record and watch later are college wrestling, freestyle wrestling, and my son wrestling.

Any and all sports watching gets deprioritized if I can play golf. I’ll do something versus watching someone else do something every day and twice on Sunday, so I miss watching a lot, and that is totally fine!

On the same wavelength, I feel the need to clarify that the PGAT has several great events a year, but it's several. Rory's win at Augusta was perhaps best since 2019. For many years the tour has been zombie like in it's management of product and big cat saved the game one more time. Popular to say the 2020 did that but to me, it was tiger 2019 (once again) who brought interest back. My public has been jammed since and it's awesome, glad it's just not older guys like me out there. The game is okay in that respect and that's where it really matters.

From a 2019 article about Tiger bump II:

"And though GolfTec has no official relationship with Woods, his Masters win clearly inspired golfers of all skill levels to seek out the company’s ability to help them improve. Assell said in the week following the Masters, the company’s web traffic was up 40 percent, swing evaluation bookings grew 16 percent, club fitting bookings increased 27 percent and new customer inquiries spiked 34 percent."

You might like it.  I think the folks who don't like it don't like the lack of scoring.  I don't want to say they miss the nuances because scoring is exciting, but the mundane (that isn't mundane) at all is what keeps me watching.  I don't know if you played, but this is what I watch for.

When I played, and this is going back into the way back machine, for some reason our coach brought out a radar gun and we were told to kick that silly ball as hard as we could.  I don't remember the number I got to, but I want to say it was just under 80 mph (but in my tiny mind I think it may have been just under 90) which was the hardest on the team.  Since then they have re-done the ball construction and added a little over 10% in regards to the speed of the ball.  I would guess the guys you see on TV can get that ball moving 80+ miles per hour (maybe 100 depending on my memory), but you will never know it watching it on TV.

Now think about a ball coming at you at 60-80 miles per hour depending on the length of the pass and having to contort yourself to control it without opposable thumbs to catch it.  For me, recognizing the skill and the possibility of seeing the incredible keeps me tuned in.

Funny enough the Beckham doc on NF peaked interest because they were showing some of his peak play and geez the dude could ball. He's probably not even the greatest but i was impressed with skills. Admire the passion fans bring to it, a bit unique and outsized too. Looks fun, lol.

Just my opinion. But soccer is boring to me. I’m sure I’m just watching it wrong 😑

You are. 😂

See, I don't see the appeal of basketball.  In my mind, any idiot can catch, throw, and run, but people most appreciate the athleticism and because they have played it that's the focus.  I played basketball and my coach would yell out a play and I would stand there and let some idiot run into me, and every once in a while I would get the ball, but it was all rehearsed.  To me that's boring.  But what do I know, different folks like different things.

Yeah, running around a massive field for 90+ minutes w/o even a single point being scored is just not my idea of entertainment.

I will say the highlight of great goal being scored is fun. But you can have the other 89 minutes 😊

But as you eluded to..:

Beckham was a one trick pony, but what a trick.  The ability to kick a ball to a person 50 yards on a string to teammate running is really impressive.  He wasn't even the best player on that team, much less ever, he just happened to be hot, his wife was an international star, and so it was.  But make no mistake, he is incredible, I guess it's those moments watching soccer where I get  impressed.  I am not sure he would have been as celebrated if not being surrounded by an incredible cast of players.  Winning brings the spotlight, and when you're balling with Scholes, Giggs, Rooney, Ronaldo, and Ferdinand, well the wins are going to pile up.

Some little unassuming guy named Messi was in the areas last week to play the ‘quakes.
Masses packed the streets and camped out in front of his hotel just to get a glimpse. Tix that regularly go for $20 we’re going for ~$2k.

I’m as tall as Michael Jordan and Kobe (but unfortunately much skinnier) so people asked me constantly if I played basketball.  I never really liked it to be honest, I guess my mind always sees straight lines instead of lofting the ball higher and letting gravity take over.  So shooting never felt intuitive to me.  I guess you could argue you have to do that in golf, but the loft is already basically preset.

Also, how the NBA handled the Supersonics relocation was gross to me.  Throwing away 41 years of history pressing for a new arena deal when they have David Stern on tape in the stands praising the previous renovations less than a decade prior was awful.
