I agree with that. I am 43 and I grew up in that area, the Orchards was always like the top notch course in the area. Felt lucky to play it. Now It's not nearly as impressive and I've played it probably a 50 times over the years. We played in a Pro Am, so it was a cool event, came down the last few holes. We took second place, shot 13 under in a Gross/Net best ball event. Was a little soggy but I would have been interested to see how those greens rolled without all the rain we got, because they were lighting with all the rain. 

Yeah, I'm 40.  Grew up playing it.  Have played it a ton.  Par 3's always seemed boring.  Now there are a ton of houses around alot of the holes too.

Just doesnt have the allure it did say 15 years ago.

Still enjoyable but doesnt really fire me up to go play.

A little wet yesterday but Greystone was in solid condition. Ended up being great weather after 5pm.

Hi from Manistee National. Courses are in amazing condition! Greens are a little slow for my tastes as they’re recently punched and sanded. Recovering well and the only real trace of it is the sandy surfaces. Nice puffs of dust when the approach shot hits it. 😄

 

Headed out for our fourth and last round on the Revenge this morning. Tight fairways and lots of elevation change, reinforced by water and wild areas. Good times!

 

 

Looking back from the 4th green on the Retreat with the 3rd green in the distance. ~150 yards par 3 from the whites with a swampy area between tee and green for forced carry.

 

 

8th tee on Retreat, a narrowish par 5 with a hard sloped left to right landing area.

 

 

Evidence that tourists haven’t a clue as to how to rake a bunker. 😡🤬

 

 

12th tee backup. We’re the fourth group on a par 4. Group on green, middle of the fairway and two on the tee box. 🙄

 

 

View from our room overlooking the hotel pitch and putt area. A real hoot with some interesting slopes built in. 😂 Had some guys doing a chip off with a pitch shot over the tree in the middle and hold the sanded green.

We paired this with Arcadia a couple years ago.  Revenge is tough.  They have a nice thing going on at MN with the lodging situation and proximity to Arcadia.

We did that last year too. Tried to talk the son into playing Bluffs today with two 8:15 tee slots open and $115 for each.  Even tried bending his arm, but he’s bigger than me. 😂

Played Paint Creek for the first time a bit ago. Interesting layout. I suspect I might play better after a couple times around. Too far to drive, however, so I won’t be making a return trip.
