R15 Forgiving or not ?

I've been playing a 10.5 deg R15 since last summer and find it reasonably forgiving and very long. At first I didn't care for the white but it has grown on me. I've hit the M1 a few times and wasn't that impressed with it over the R15, but I didn't really have it dialed in either.

 

I have the weights on my R15 set 1 notch over neutral and 2 notches over draw.

 

Black is the way to go. I didn't get a 430 because it's only offered in white. Trivial I know but black head looks so much better.

 

I'm itching for an M2 now tho but those prices are firm

Forgiving compared to a SLDR, maybe. Compared to the majority of new top line drivers, not even close.

I'm now hitting the SLDR 430/10.5 set to 12 and carry is better than any driver I've had, and even more roll after landing...my more recent TM drivers: 580xd, r7/425, r5/N...

Bad SLDR hits equal good hits from those other three.

I bought it for a lower ball flight for a trip I taking where strong winds are common and the SLDR fits the bill perfectly....but...

I lucked on to a great priced R15/430/12, so I'm now going to have a nice week of testing....trying both the SLDR shaft and the R15 shaft (both OEM)

Is the SLDR better because my swing is better? That may be the case as I know I have to concentrate to hit the SLDR on center. As for forgiveness, I just take the attitude that I have to hit it with the same attitude as I must with a smaller 3 wood...concentrate, concentrate, concentrate....

I'll take out the r7 along with the R15 and compare to recent results of the SLDR.

I went from an R7 425 10.5* to an R15 460 10.5* and find it long and forgiving. The one thing is that I am hitting it way higher - I keep planning to close the face w the hosel adjustment but haven't done it because of how well I have been getting off the tee.

I decided to go with the Ping G30. At my age and swing speed all drivers are fairly equal. G30 was a safe choice.

If you are looking for a TM driver with both distance AND TRUE FORGIVENESS, try the 2015 SLDR-C Driver! It was actually announced by TM AFTER the R15 and AeroBurner last year, but BEFORE the M-Family heads! NO NEED TO 'LOFT UP' with this redesigned, lower profile, SLDR-C clubhead. in fact, I suggest you try the 9.5* loft first!

 

The SLDR-C (Classic) bonded hosel Driver is as good as it gets with a premium shaft!.. :yes:
