Not surprising. It is THAT good. hit 75 balls with it during the filming of the commercials for it and the sound or lack there of is beautiful. It is LONG.

Not surprising. It is THAT good. hit 75 balls with it during the filming of the commercials for it and the sound or lack there of is beautiful. It is LONG.

If my 915D3 already fits me quite well, should I expect to see much performance gain with the 917 or is it mainly the appearance and sound?

If the 917 drivers sound anywhere near as good as the 910 (in terms of its muted sound), I'm all in. That's enough to get me excited. Good to see Adam Scott making the switch so soon, was hoping he would switch to a D3 model though. I just prefer the smaller head of the D3 and am a fan of the D3.

How does that compare to what he had w the Kuro Kage

 

KK XT follows the whiteboard profile, where the Tensei Pro Blue follows the blueboard profile. The KK XT has a stiffer tip and slightly softer butt section. I could feel more kick in the Pro Blue and it felt like it was a little softer in the midsection.

There is a KK Black, which is mid/mid and there is a KK Silver, which is lower spin and launch than the Black. The KK XT is more tip stiff, and lower launch and spin than those two.

I find the XT to be more mid launch and low spin than low launch. The silver launches quite high with low spin according to the Taylormade shaft chart.

absolutely. Yes you will see a performance gain and the sound makes it with icing on top

absolutely. Yes you will see a performance gain and the sound makes it with icing on top

 

Now that I've made up my mind to purchase this (and turned my LTD Pro back in, thanks Golf Mart 90-day return policy) posts like this make me almost rabid and even more impatient. Can you talk about the tech in the driver, or is that coming? Also, have you hit the fairway woods?

How does the c16 compare to the 917? Did you hi tht d2 or the d3?

 

 

I personally want to see what the D4 looks like

 

I hit the D2 and D3...remember these were not set up for me and were stock shafts so I can't give a true comparison but I can say one thing. The course we were shooting at I have played tons of times and I was hitting the driver ( not set up for me) in places I was kind of surprised. about 10 yards farther than normal on solid shots. For example the first hole is a 392 yards from the back tee and it's uphill usually into a breeze. There is a bunker about 310 off the tee and I usually hit a smooth easy driver just to the front ( at 6500' elevation). I teed up the 917 and hit 5 drives about the same speed I would hit my 915. I hit 3 in the bunker and two just short around normal. The quietness of this driver is what is nicest.

 

As for my C16- IT's hard to compare them but It will take a lot to pull the C16 out of my bag. I have posted on this previously that the Titleist folks explained to me the differences in the two ( 917 and C16) and that there is 3 different metals used in the C16 that they said would be to expensive to mass produce. I think that the C16 is slightly louder than the 917 but not sure. The C16 set's up so nicely in my hands and I feel confident I will hit the fairway every time. The folks who play with me regularly have remarked that I am driving it better than usual and that is already a strength of my game :-)
