.335 Iron Shaft

I received a bent kid's sand wedge to fix today. It has a .335 steel shaft in it. It's ok to replace it with graphite or steel, but I can't find a .335 junior iron shaft anywhere online. Do i have to replace this with a used wood shaft that is soft stepped like 12 times... so use a stiff??? Not sure what to do. I don't have a drill press to drill out the hosel. May be cheaper to just get a new SW? I welcome any and all ideas.

Those are .370 iron and .335 wood.

Flex on a SW is almost irrelevant - use the tip section of an old ladies-flex driver shaft if the child is a lightweight, the tip section of a stouter shaft if the kid is close to adult weight, and plan to replace it with a real club soon. You’ll need to build up slightly under the grip to get decent sizing and adhesion.

Ness has the right idea. Get a Jr graphite shaft from Hireko (just go to graphite shafts and click on JR). They are .370 and you just sand the tip down to match the taper hosel.

This is what I was thinking too. I have a spare .335 i pulled recently in my workshop.

Ness has the right idea. Get a Jr graphite shaft from Hireko (just go to graphite shafts and click on JR). They are .370 and you just sand the tip down to match the taper hosel.

He's saying that the shaft was .335 parallel, not .355 tapered.

To the OP, you said the shaft was .335 - are you sure the hossel is also really .335?

What's the make of the club? Have you tried contacting the manufacturer? They might be able to send you a replacement shaft or point you to a possible replacement.

Also, you would not need a drill press if you wanted to bore out the hossel. A hand reamer would be a much better tool but you probably don't have that either. However, they are generally not too expensive if you wanted to go that route.

Thanks mis-read that. Just can't believe it is .335 either unless they were just taking wood shafts and tipping to whatever they felt like and calling it Jr.

Didn't recognize the brand, but I don't have kids or get much junior stuff. Good shape, 8620 steel, has the loft and bounce stamped on it, serial number, etc. After some more searching online, I found the website and here are a couple of pics of the shaft.

Good thought on validating the hosel size. Thanks! I haven't pulled it yet. I measured the shaft at .335 above the ferrule. I'll pull it and call this US Kids Golf website. If that doesn't work, I'll get a hand reamer.
