Ping says LS is for players with fast SS. Any idea how fast?

let's pass on the old "swing speed" concept and just acknowledge two things the LS head typically requires... a fairly high and consistent smash factor (you hit it very solidly, A LOT) and effecient results in regards to ball speed (meaning you should IMO have minimum 150mph or CARRY it in the air minimum 250yds).

So SS aside, if my Smash Factor is ~1.45/6 and I carry it 265-275 & have a ball speed of 156+ with my current setup (FT-5 tour w/ stiff YS-Q), I shouldn't have any problems?

you should be more than gtg with those kind of credentials.

I hit both, liked both, the G LST "for me" gave me better results at the Gear Trials...the G30 (standard and LS) still a beast though, like suggested above, hit both, get the right shaft and go have fun...good luck

I went from the G25 and found a person selling a used G30 LS on craigslist locally and picked it up. I do not notice much difference in forgiveness between the 2 drivers. I don't know my exact smash factor or anything but my driver swing speed is around 105ish and I carry the ball pretty close to 250 for whatever that helps with. I am using it in the 9* and tour stiff set up. I love the driver. It is a little loud but that is just what goes with a Ping driver. Overall very solid stick.

Just curious if the LS is noticeably less forgiving than it's regular G30 counterpart?

I found it was just as accurate and longer, and I don't have the usual qualifications. I was fit at Ping and the fitter said by the usual book I should be in a G30, but on the nFlight I was making more solid contact with the LS.

Thought it might be because of the tour65 shaft being shorter, but tried that in the regular G30 and results weren't as good.

IMO, if you have trouble getting the ball airborne, the regular G30 will be better, but if not the LS is at least worth a demo.

Earlier this year I had a G30 LS Tec and stupidly got rid of it. A couple months later I bought the G and struggled mightily with it and dumped it.

I just bought a G LS Tec and it's arriving today. Really excited to get it out on the course!

I thought the heads were identical in terms of forgiveness. Aren't they both 460cc? I thought the only difference was about 200 rpm's of spin.

My SS and BS is not that high but I do make good contact with the ball consistently.
