Selling golf clubs and shipping

Hey guys, not really sure if this fits in this forum, but i was wondering if anyone has had experience with shipping golf clubs to a buyer i have never really done it before, just bought clubs. So what is the process you guys go through? I am interested in selling some of my clubs.

 

Do you just find a box they fit in and put them in there? And make sure they are packaged up well?

 

How much does shipping normally cost for a set of irons?

 

Just want to get a good idea of how things go before i start selling some clubs. I dont want to have bad transactions.

Ha- this is a weird thread. Yes just find a box and put them in there. Depending on where you go, a single club is usually $10-15 to ship and a set of irons $15-25

Go to any golf store and ask them for some club boxes. They just throw most of them out anyways. Wrap, wrap, wrap again. Cant be too safe with a product you are shipping across the world. Coming from Hawaii, most of the times it is not in my best interest to sell clubs. Shipping cuts too much into the profit unless the buyer is willing to pay for shipping. I ususally just trade them at the local shop. If I were CONUS, I would sell everything on here or the Bay.

I always keep some club boxes from my purchases, to use if I sell something.

And package well, wrap iron heads so they don't rub against each other and

so nothing moves inside if you shake the box.

I use bubble wrap that can be purchased cheap at Home Depot or Lowes. Get some packing tape, wrap in bubble wrap and place in your box. Then print your label, tape the box and the label on the box and drop it off at your nearest shipping center. Its easy.

I sold a set of irons recently (on the bay not here). I had old boxes that i keep from purchases. I shipped via USPS from TX to NY it was $31. Just so u have an idea of cost.

I think VitaminSteve and I use the same boxes, but I cant get his link to work. I use THESEboxes. You can order them free from USPS. USPS will deliver them to you. I prefer the strength of the triangle boxes to the square ones. I have seen square boxes fold and collapse in half. It's much harder to do with a triangle box (though not impossible). If you are shipping something that is longer than 1 box you can cut a second box to length and tape them together. I make sure to have plenty of overlap between the two boxes. These boxes will not fit a driver though (driver head too big). They are great for putters and iron sets. Wrap the heads well. Another thing you can do is arrange to have USPS come and pick it up during their normal delivery of your mail. I HATE waiting in line at the post office.

 

So you can have them deliver you the boxes, you can print out the shipping label online, and then they will come pick it up from you. You dont even have to leave your house or put on your pants.

 

EDIT: Cost for these is between $12 - 15 for a single club and between $15-25 for a set of irons.
