Old faithful still has the mojo, keep it or stick with new club

I'm sure it's happened to all of us at one point - club X stops behaving so you buy a replacement Y that is killer only for X to start behaving again. Happened to me many times but the most recent episode is my 3w (also not the first time for me). My 3w just stopped performing (yup, IT stopped performing, not me screwing up) so I bought a bunch to test out including a legend from my past, a r7 TP 13° w/ a Blueboard 83. 2 were stand outs - r7 and Cobra Fly-Z+. I was having the r7 refinished to its former glory so I played the Cobra and wouldn't you know it, it was the bomb. Super confident with it and long. I think I've found "the one" so I do the purge of all the also-rans. The r7 comes back looking hot and I decide to take it out on the course for S&Gs only to revel in that old feeling again. Now I'm conflicted. Do I put old faithful back in the bag despite it being a 10 yo club or stick it out with New Hotness? What have you done when this happened to you?

I consider irons and wedges interchangeable since they last a long time and generally don't change all that much. But never get rid of a trustworthy fairway wood or driver, even if you found something new that you like.

I'm generally of the same mind. It certainly helps that the old club is longer than the new one.

Don't forget the corollary: if you have to tinker, do it with a different club. I learned this one the hard way.

Nothing wrong with having two good options. I'd vote stick with whatever one you're more comfortable with, maybe with the odd round of mixing things up just for giggles. Fairway woods at at their best when they're 10 years old and beat up!

I would vote to keep the old one. I keep trying new 3 woods but alway end up back with my old reliable v-steel. It's straight down the fairway everytime.

I'm going to crank the Cobra down to 13° like the r7 and see how it works out. I'm hoping the lefts I sometimes get from it will work their way out with the opening of the face.

Tangential but related... Do you miss the MWT of the r7 line like I do? I love that I could add weight to try it out without it being permanent. Or really make the club fade biased. Or just a hair draw biased. It's one of the reasons I really like the Big Bertha Alphas

I vote for an option you haven't listed: Keep playing the new club and keep the r7 as backup. Obviously the r7 lost its mojo for you in the past sometime, but now she's pretty again and the honeymoon has started all over, but if you lost the magic once, you'll lose it again. The new club might not be better in the final analysis, and then you have the r7 to fall back on!
